We went to the Holiday Reflections walk thru village search for Christmas activities. This really was a activity to do as a family and worked out well for a video on our YouTube channel. While not only getting to see all the holiday displays we also were able to learn some of the history. We will definitely have to go back to explore more of what Union Station has to offer!

We LOVE Union Station, and we just had our wedding at Jarvis Hunt Room! It was perfect for our small wedding of 50 people. Definitely could accommodate more for just the ceremony but I don’t know that I’d put many more in there for a reception. There was plenty of space for social distancing, and the room is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The marble and high ceilings make it a little echo-y and loud, which was great for just using a Bluetooth speaker for music and not needing a mic for the officiant. However, it was a little loud during the reception with everyone talking, you definitely couldn’t hear the music I was playing. That was no big deal as I’m not even sure anyone noticed there was supposed to be music playing. We didn’t have a real dance floor or DJ, and I’m not sure the room would be good for either, but we didn’t feel it was needed and from what we heard, it wasn’t missed. It made for a wonderful wedding and small reception!

Had a great day of just wondering around Union Station. They have done such a great job of documenting the history of this building. It’s like a giant time capsule. And we stumbled upon an outdoor craft fair too! There is plenty to do for free. I love walking the 2nd and third floor concourse. Highly recommend a Saturday afternoon here with zero plans: you will find plenty to keep you busy

There was a lot to do! Well ventilated which is important during Covid times. Free and paid options for activities. My kids loved the model trains (free), streetcar to the market (free), and the planetarium (paid). It was all easy to navigate on foot with affordable parking which was great for us since we came in from out of town with no particular plans.

Cool historic place really. All I did was go to the post office thats also housed in the Union Station building on the first floor. As far post offices go this one is excellent so far. The lady who took care of my postal needs is very nice and she handled what was needed quickly. I was in and out in 5 minutes. Good job...good job...good job. So sad no free decorations to look at. We used to take the kids there every year to look at the beautiful decorations. We went Friday after thanksgiving and found out that they are charging people to see the grand hall decorations. Kids Santa station of writing letters and mailing them is part of the paid part now. So we had to mail our letters at the regular post office. Thank you crown center for still having free decorations and fun things for the kids to do.

Union Station is a money-maker. When they had the Dinosaurs Revealed exhibit, the door in the Cretaceous room had a big Gift Shop sign so the kids would see it and whine about going to the Gift Shop immediately instead of spending time in the Cretaceous room. Im pretty sure the Gift Shop sign was put there to move people through quickly, which is tacky. Also, remember that you do not have to get to Science City through their gift shop. Theres a side door that will lead you directly into Science City.

We missed the end of the outdoor light show on the water, but we caught the one inside the main hall and it was absolutely entertaining. The rooms are really great, although a bit small. I was very excited to visit the station. I knew from someone else’s review gave a couple of the stores were closed on Mondays; However, according to the website there were still several things to do. We were in two vehicles, so I paid for 4 hr parking thinking that we would be spending at least two or three hours inside. We wanted to go to the planetarium first. We asked the lady at the info desk how to get tickets, and she sent us upstairs. By the way, the up escalator was turned off, and I am over 7 months pregnant. We got upstairs and couldn’t find anywhere to get tickets. There wasn’t any notifications posted, etc. We asked someone working where to go. He sent us around a corner where we didn’t find anything. So, we went downstairs to the info desk again. Then, she tells us that the planetarium is actually closed on Mondays. So, we asked about getting tickets to go to the Dino exhibit. She sent us back upstairs with some directions on where we could buy tickets. We go back up the stairs to where she said. The man there said that we can’t buy tickets right there, and gave us directions of somewhere else to go upstairs. We walk to where he said and can’t find anyone. By this time, we are tired and frustrated. We asked an employee of the museum what we were missing and where to go. She said she wasn’t sure because she didn’t work for the station. Another guy comes out, who has already given us directions at a different time. He was pretty rude, because we were obviously annoyed. He basically told us to go to all the places we had already been. My husband was about ten feet away from him and had pulled down his mask so the man could understand him. The man informed him that if he was going to talk to them that he better pull his mask up. He also informed us that there never know anything about the station or what’s going on there. So, we gave up on the Dino trip as well. We then decided to at least go to see the model trains, which was shown to be a free activity. We walked down to it, and it was also closed. In the end, we wasted our time and spent $20 (parking) to do absolutely nothing. I understand that things maybe closed due to COVID, etc; However, I don’t understand how the people working there have absolutely no idea of what’s going on. It was a very beautiful building, but one could see it in about five minutes. It was very disappointing to say the least. Hopefully, this review will help other people from out of town not waste their time or money parking.
