This place is amazing;I had the honor of being able to do some work inside so of course I took advantage of the photo opp!

This was my first time in Alamo Drafthouse I remember back in the day it was another name. I enjoyed the movie THE JOKER it was FANTASTIC. the set up is cool to. You place your order by writing it on a slip of paper and your sever cones by and picks it up. Prices were reasonable and the drinks were OK.... it is a NO PHONE THEATHER...they tell you you will be escorted out if caught on your phone or talking they want everyone to enjoy the experience. They have different theaters with different film types which was cool as well. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. They do offer a military discount as well.

Love the movie experience here. You can order food and drinks here during the movie, including alcoholic beverages. The food is good and seasoned well from the dishes I have tried. The feel of Alamo is of an old styled movie theatre. They play classic cartoons and movie clips before the movie starts. Somenof them are in black and white and bring back memories. Definitely a place to visit while you are in Kansas City if you are looking for a good movie experience

Very nice nostalgic atmosphere. There is so much history in this place. Beautiful venue and very good food, and drink service.

I love this place. Great place to see movies currently out but also theyre constantly having events like movie parties and cult classics. Most all the food is 10-15 per entree, pretty good but it can add up. Probably the biggest hurdle to enjoyment is parking since it is in Power and Light, but you can park at H&R Blocks lot at night and get validated. If you live in KC you have to go here at least once.

The single greatest movie theater experience I have ever had the chance to attend. Atmosphere and food are great.

Good tasting food and decent cocktail offerings but theaters getting a bit run down. Floors are stained and sticky, seats could be more comfortable and some tables need replaced at seats. Also, it took about 40 min. to get the burger and salad we ordered. Server was prompt but kitchen was very slow.

Excellent service every time I go there. The food selection is great, especially the movie-specific specials. They have a good variety of older, newer, indie and blockbuster movies. Their app is very practical for getting a ticket and quickly getting to your seat. Their special events are a fun way to meet new people with similar events.

I always love to come here to the Alamo. The Chesterfield Bar is right next to it inside the main hall. The workers are always really professional and friendly. They are patient and willing to answer any question. They dont discriminate here at the Alamo. It is one of the very few places in the city that I feel safe. And the menu is expensive, however, the food is amazing! You will love it here

I love Alamo. I thoroughly enjoy being able to buy your seat and then food/snacks right from your seat. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I enjoy the creative theres drinks and food for special movie events. My definite go to place movie enjoyment.

We dont have an Alamo Drafthouse near my house, but Ive been to the one in Austin and now KC. I like being able to eat a full meal with drinks delivered to the table during the movie. The wait staff all took great measures to be low and quiet when going back and forth with orders, so they were not as distracting as you would think. I didnt even notice them if not coming to and from our table.The only thing I would change is I wish they had reclining seats. I didnt think this was enough to reduce my rating for the place.

I love this theater. Its all about the experience. Its an absolutely no talking kind of deal and thats perfect for me. They offer a full bar and full menu, with a surprising amount of vegetarian options.

Saw Parasite tonight, first visit to this theater. The seats were comfy if a little cramped. Picture was great and the sound quality was exceptional. Its nice that they have full food and drink service throughout the movie, and the server did a great job of being discrete. Why cant every theater be like this?

We went to the National Lampoons Christmas Movie Party. It was really fun! This was my first time at an Alamo theater. It definitely felt more quaint than typical theaters but in a really nice way. I enjoyed the extra effects and activities for our movie. I will say, to me the seats are much more squished together than a regular movie theater. You share your arm rest with your neighbor so hopefully you like them lol. We didnt get any food but our neighbors did and it looked great. I did get a margarita and I tried the boozy eggnog milkshake, both were really good choices. The bathrooms were neat looking and very clean, most stalls even have their own sink. Overall my group had a really good time and were planning to come again for another movie party.

I love this place it has such an old Hollywood feel. I also love the words in the ground. Famous movie quotes! I saw this when I saw The final film in the Star Wars saga!

My wife and I recently went here on a date night. Very fun atmosphere and setting. The staff was friendly and attentive. Dinner service was accurate and timely. The beyond meat burger, fries and mozzarella sticks were all tasty at a decent price. No complaints at all, we will be back.

Its the only way to see movies. NO ADS! NO military commercials, no coke commercials, no insurance commercials, before the show. Honestly that is the biggest selling point to me because I hate how modern theaters have become a slew of annoying ads. Cleverly themed clips running while waiting for previews and show to start. Comfortable seats. Eat and drink (both alcoholic and non) while you watch. Service staff is nice but food takes a while sometimes. I like to get there early to get food out of the way. I wont ever go to another theater again! For best results, reserve your seat ahead of time of you can. They also show old classic movies at times, they have fun events. They have movie memorabilia you can buy for premieres (like mugs or posters).

Purchased tickets to watch movie on Christmas Day for my wife and daughter. Two days before showing I received email saying showing was cancelled and to contact them for refund. I got my refund but Im no longer able to view any showings for Christmas. Sucks, was looking forward to nice movie experience for Christmas with the family and now nothing is available.Gave an extra star due to previous good experiences had here.

Different. You can watch movies anywhere so pick a place that serves good food with service as a priority. Clean thats a difference. You can enjoy main stream movies or a party movie. The family and I saw Big Trouble in Little China. Cap guns and magic glowing rings made the party movie a real hoot.

Vintage theater with a modern twist!You go to the movie for an experience and that’s what you will get at Alamo Drafthouse. The food and bar are great and just add to the whole experience. Even if you are not in the mood for a movie it is worth stopping by to have a drink or get a quick bite to eat. You may also stumble upon some other activities taking place in the bar area like dance lessons or live music. Bottom line if you are looking for a good time then this is a place to check out.

Be sure to read the fine print on your online ticket purchases! We arrived 20 min after our show start time to bypass previews ( and see kids off to concert at Sprint). They would not allow us to enter bc they said we would be a distraction. Manager acknowledged that using the restroom during the duration of the movie is the same thing, but would not grant us access to our show for the exact same reason. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Its a fun, adults only atmosphere where you can enjoy dinner and a show, all at once. Themed cocktails, unique plates, and a better value than a lot of places in the Power & Light area. Would def recommend the special events (sing-alongs, movie parties, etc), they always have fun with them.

I really like this theater. This was the first time Ive been and I enjoyed my experience. Its located in a beautiful old building with a lot of history. We ordered a burger with a gluten free bun, French toast and a BBQ chicken pizza. I am so happy that my son could find gluten free options here! All of the food was tasty, but it was a bit hard to see to eat once the movie started. I wish there was a tiny light on the table so I could see my food. We might try the bottomless popcorn next time. I was concerned about making noice while eating and laughing during the movie due to other reviews. However, we had no issues. Everyone laughed and seemed fine. The seats were comfortable. The bathrooms were clean with the exception that the Dyson hand dryers could use a wipe down inside. We all agree that we will be back.

I go at least 3 times a week. Its always amazing. I love staff, their service is nice. The micro theater is cool and even the large ones as well.

I just left the Drafthouse after seeing Tremors. It was a special party event for the 30th anniversary of the film. The Alamo Drafthouse is for people who love movies. And I mean love movies. This is the kind of place that keeps the magic of the good old days of cinema alive.

The Alamo is an amazing theater! The seating is comfortable and the sound is awesome. The food and drinks are great as well! I also love the location. It makes for a wonderful outing!

Great theater for adults to escape to for an evening. Overpriced food and drinks, as expected, but its very nicely set up. We did not eat but we each had a cocktail. Dont worry about the food prices. The theater is located in the heart of food city on this block in Kansas City. You heard that right, ALCOHOL endorced theater. Dont forget to grab a pair of socks from the gift shop on your way out. I love my Elvira socks.

Great food. The system for ordering works very well. You stay at your table and write your order on paper, stand it up, and a server comes to place it. No getting up, no having trouble hearing. The theater is very clean. The bathrooms are literally red carpet events. I only wish the tables were a little bigger. But otherwise this is an amazing execution of a dine in theater.

The screen is huge and great! If thats your focus, you will be satisfied. Parking was easy to find and per their site, they will validate garage parking.Other issues- while the counter in front of the seats is very handy, the chairs themselves are basic - vinyl, thinly cushioned, non-heated, and non-reclining. The more contemporary theater seating has set a new standard that Alamos seats cannot meet.The food is nothing special, but the pricing is fair, especially for a movie theatre.Lastly, be prepared to be rushed out while final credits are still rolling.

The best theatre chain there is. Perfect sound and picture, no talking or texting allowed. They also show older movies all the time. The food is good too.

Love this place! I always go here for date night. Getting a season pass is worth it since price of food and tickets (not to mention parking) can add up quick. My biggest complaint is the restrooms. Theyre absolutely gnarly.

Great establishment! Ive been coming here regularly for two years and cant get enough of the food, special menu items, service and recommendations for excellent movies.Any issues Ive had have been addressed immediately and thoroughly to the point where Ive seen disruptive customers be ejected from the theater and those bothered to be given rain checks for those who have been bothered. I would recommend Alamo Drafthouse to anyone and will be back again soon.

I worked for a company that helped renovated the old building. I had not been in the building since its renovation. The contractor did an excellent job of renovation.I went with my daughter and her boyfriend to see mr. Rogers welcome to my neighborhood. The flick was excellent, and had a great meal.

Great place to meet friends for drinks, see a great movie and enjoy some pretty good food. Love the atmosphere and the service and the ticket prices are also very reasonable. Not hectic or over crowded. Cool and relaxed with a touch of class. Great Experience!

I love Alamo drafthouse. I don’t go to movies often, but when I do, this is the place I prefer to go. I get so annoyed by talking during movies and they do not tolerate it here. Plus, the prices are pretty reasonable compared to AMC, I would say they are almost the same. Then on top of all of this, you can order food. My friends and I usually split the bottomless popcorn for 7.50 or I get the buffalo cauliflower, it’s amazing.

This theater is awesome. Dinner and a show? This isnt plastic cheese nachos and hot dogs. They have a fantastic menu which changes regularly. The theater is clean, the servers are great, and its especially nice to be able to stretch out and relax while watching a movie. I dont mean that the seats are just wider, the rows of seating do not touch. No one will uncomfotably climb over you to get to their seat in this theater.Skeptical of ordering a cocktail in a movie theater because you assume it will be an all sugar drink that lands you with a headache? Do not worry. I enjoy Bombay with a splash of Sprite. Quite often even at a dedicated bar, they fill the drink with way too much Sprite and void the point of ordering top shelf gin to begin with. I was almost shocked tonight when my movie theater server brought me one of the most perfectly poured drinks Ive been served in a while. Dear Alamo, pay your bartender more so you can keep them. Whoever it was they are fantastic.

Lovely setting and services. The beer can block your view when laying back while its placed on the table in front of you. Fortunately, the seats have drink holders.

Absolutely amazing! I find the employees are very respectful and sweet , yet they make sure to enforce there rules about cell phones and children under 5. Even the aesthetic of the movie theater gives me such joyous nostalgia with a myriad of movie quotes. I think there only real downside is the small amount of theaters themselves. But even that isn’t enough to dock stars, as they usually have a wide variety of Indies, blockbusters, and old classics! The food is also very good (my favorite is the chicken Cesar salad!) In summary, a grand movie theater for every type of taste!

Honestly one of the best movie experiences I’ve ever had. Halle was our server and she was incredibly kind. One of the best I’ve ever had. Will return solely based on the experience I had.

Cool cinema with fun concept of ordering food at your seats and having it delivered. It can take quite awhile to get food and drinks at times. The bottomless popcorn is totally amazing tho!

This place is amazing! They have a strict no talking/no cellphone policy while the movie is playing. I love this because you are not distracted by the bright light of a cellphone during the movie. Also, with the age policy restrictions, that reduces the level of disruption while trying to enjoy the movie. Another great feature is that they serve a full menu with appetizers, entrees, & desserts. They have the typical popcorn and candy, too. But it is pretty great to have the option to have a burger if you want. Also, they serve alcohol, both cocktails and beer. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will go back when I am in Kansas City again.

This Vintage Theatre is a great place to watch a movie. I like it that you are able to reserve your seat. I dont like it that you have to climb over people in a narrow space to get to your seat. One time there was an odor combined with a smell of chemical cleaner. I have had popcorn. I like that you can get your popcorn with clarified butter. Their boozey milk shakes are delicious! The atmosphere is enjoyable and we plan to be back.

Beautiful and cozy theatre...comfortable seating as well. Reasonable menu prices....full service in theatre...full bar...gift/souvenir shop as well. Terror Tuesday was a blast !

Went and saw a movie a few weeks ago. The concept is cool and noninvasive. However the quality of food this latest time was unimpressive compared to visits in the past.

Always great, but Tony took care of us tonight and was above and beyond perfect. Love the food, the atmosphere and how no nonsense they are about keeping it a great grown up movie experience.

This place has unrealistic policies that are very inconvenient and stressful for potential or returning customers. I came from the northland to see a movie for date night and it took us 15 minutes to find parking. Once we paid for parking ($8), we walked across the street to the theater and because we were 2 minutes later than their grace period (per policy), we were not able to purchase tickets and see the movie we wanted to. The first thing I would like to point out is that previews are typically 15 minutes (which is common knowledge) which makes this policy irrelevant. Furthermore, if a viewer is late to a movie it should only be a natural consequence that they miss 2 minutes of the movie. Customers are spending their money, why would you penalize a potential customer because of life circumstances ESPECIALLY because of the way the environment surrounding this business plays a part in these challenges. This policy should not be in place or should be adjusted so what actually makes sense, 30 minute grace period (so 15 minutes after previews would be more logical). Was excited to try the food and experience this theater, now I’m not interested in returning.To customers: whatever you do, don’t let life make you 2 minutes late to the movie showing

This place is amazing! The food was surprisingly good and the seats were comfy! The only downside was that the bathrooms smelled like pee and seemed a little dirty which was unfortunate. Otherwise great!

Dinner and a movie night? While there are other theaters that are doing the concept of dining at the movie, Alamo seems to do it better than any others I have come across so far. It is obvious that they wanted to create a dining experience that makes it worth skipping going to a separate restaurant. The food and alcohol selection is decent, everything is about on par price wise with just about any decent sit down restaurant. Beyond that, there is definitely attention to having the A/V equipment tuned and working top notch for a great viewing experience. All in all, this is by far my favorite movie theater in the KC metro area and worth the drive, even though there are decent cinema choices in my suburb much closer to my house.

Great place to enjoy a movie and eat some good food while watching. Make sure to try the chips and queso. Bottomless popcorn is always a great eat as well.

This is my favorite place to watch movies, because audiences WANT to WATCH movies.I like kids, but dislike watching movies with children too young to understand. I like my phone, but hate sharing screen time with every other tiny screen in the theater. The food is pricey, but good. Its no more pricey than any other theater in town but tastes better and the server ninjas do not interfere with viewing.Most importantly, dont talk, dont text, and dont show up late. These are good rules for any theater, but they are enforced, here. And Im so happy about that.

Asked for a refill on my bottomless drink 3 times. All they brought me was the check to pay for the only drink I received. Spent 2 hours thirsty. Asked three separate times for a refill. Bottomless indeed. Theater was not full either. This was at a 3:30 pm showing on a wed.

The aggregation of relevant movie star interviews and other related content that is played before the movies here is reason enough to go. On top of that, the food is great, and the seating is well thought out and great viewing from every chair.

Its a nice place to catch a movie plus have drinks and dinner. There are a few things that could be better. But its definitely better than any AMC or B&B theater.

Nice staff, nice theatre, reasonable prices. Unfortunately I got the beyond burger and it was a mushy, sad burger. I know beyond burgers are better than that. :/

Popcorn absolutely ROCKS. People do not talk during the show and everyone is super friendly! We drive 30 miles to go to the movie at the Alamo...our local movie house is 12 miles away.

When I think movie viewing experience, this is exactly what comes to mind. Fantastic food and cocktails served directly to you while watching the newest blockbuster hit. Certainly does not get better that this!I ordered the fish and chips along a with a couple a couple cocktails with no complaints. The servers were extremely helpful and polite if I needed something, and their process for ordering while a movie is playing is super efficient. I highly recommend coming here for your next movie.

My husband and I have seen every MCU film here since weve been together and we love this place! They open the theater 30 minutes before and we do get our orders in early. That makes a big difference. The staff is always friendly and joking with us but also very quick and efficient. Food is pub quality with good portioning, excellent bottomless popcorn, I feel like drink portions could be more generous (I drink wine and have the tasty yet small specialty drinks) The craft beer pours would be the exception to that, I feel. My husband likes that he can get a nice whiskey. Love the snarky videos they play before the movie! Love that they enforce no talking and no phone checking!! Nice surround sound. Intimate theaters with stadium seating style.

First visit. Even though we had to sit in the front row it was a fun experience for my entire family. The chairs are comfortable and the service is excellent. I thought the servers would be distracting but they know what theyre doing.

Not sure if I was supposed to get my own refill of bottomless popcorn or maybe I didn’t read the fine print. You will counseled if you dare bring your own snacks. I won’t make any special trips here again. Everything else seemed above par.

Best show in town if you are looking for a big night out. Accessible by the free tram too so you can be downtown at another location easily before hand. Food is great! The price can get crazy but if that doesnt bother you then there is nothing better.

Very cool aesthetic and a place for avid movie watchers and geeks. I’m more of a recliner guy tho.

At a company event tonight. After asking for drinks in the last 30 minutes of the movie, the manager came to discuss the events. She said that they attempted to deliver drinks multiple times, however, that was the first time I was out of my seat. I wouldnt have left a negative review, except when the event manager over the company event was settling the bill, we were in our seats waiting for our bill when I overheard her say well, this couple CLAIMS they never got their drinks, but thats what this charge is for... The movie was completely over and house lights were up by the time we got our second round Id drinks. Thats unacceptable when we were told we HAD to spend the gift cards that night, so drink up. Finally, the bathroom sanitary hand driers were coated in slimmey mold.

A dedication to movie lovers is absolutely profound and clear. The theatre was quiet, the picture and sound quality was excellent, and the drinks were well-made. I love the negroni, a great apertief before diving into dinner and a movie. Love this place. Did I mention they have a beyond meat burger?!?

Im from Texas, and this is the most beautiful Alamo Drafthouse Ive been too. Parking is a little tricky since it is downtown. The theater is a huge! Two stories. Wonderful bathrooms too. All the womens stall have sinks and vanities in the them. Love the drafthouse. The menu is wonderful. My go to favorite is the pretzel. Though, the milkshakes are also a great choice!

My brother and I were watching a movie. During the movie, a manager came up to our table. He asked me, is their water in my cup, and is it alcohol. I told him its water, not alcohol. I dont bring alcohol to a theater. No manager or worker at the cinema has ever asked me these questions. I felt disrespected. I have been going to the Cinema for a year and a half now.

I love the Alamo Drafthouse. Unfortunately this one didnt live up to my experiences at other locations.To start the pre-show wasnt working, just a theatre full of people waiting. When I asked to pre-swipe my card the server agreed, but then closed the bill and brought the receipt with the first food item ordered. Why not wait until the end of the movie in case we offer more? When we inevitably ordered more, it was nullified and a new one with all the stuff on it was made which is the best way to handle it, but it was extra distraction to figure out what was going on during the movie.The food was not good - I think the order sat out for a while before being brought to us. The pizza was completely cold and the milkshake entirely liquid. Ive ordered milkshakes and pizza at other locations in Dallas and New York and theyve been absolutely fine, it was just this location.Finally, when going around to distribute checks, they passed by 3 times and were very slow each time, carefully reading each check while standing in front of the seats. Right at the climax of the movie. No attempt was made to be discreet or fast about it.I go to the Alamo Drafthouse for the nice food/drinks and distraction free movie watching experience. The audience was not distracting at all. I cant say the same about the service unfortunately.

My go to for movies, mainly due to the no talking and no screens policies.They have a decent menu and the special menus are great when theyre around, but I wish the food was just a bit better for the price. As in, I would never make a trip here just for the food, theres a half dozen places nearby that are just better for the same price (or less). The special menu offerings tend to be better but those are sporadic.But, food isnt the main point of a theater. Overall definitely the best just experience the movie venue in KC that Ive found.

This place is very nice. The waitress was prompt and courteous. The service totally exceeded my expectations.

Great theater.I tried a jerk chicken sandwich. Had the spice, with decent flavor, but the guacamole was a different touch. Not preferred, but it was a healthy option. The fries were great.I think the drinks could use a bit more kick, but theyre definitely good.

This is a movie lovers theater. The unique building sits in the Power and Light district, right on the streetcar route. The lobby and theaters are classic, but up to date.Seating is comfortable, although not recliners.In seat service worked very well for us. Just be sure to arrive 20 minutes early so you can check the menu and fill out your order cards. The parmesan popcorn and a bottomless coke are all you really need, and are very affordable for a theater!I also recommend the milkshakes and my wife enjoyed an adult version.The sound was perfect when we saw El Camino, although others have said it can be too loud.The vintage public service clips that run before the movie are fun, and the announcement about phone and talking rules was very well done. (They played a voicemail that was purportedly left by a patron who was kicked out after violating the phone policy.)The only suggestion I have for the theater is to have the metal plates around the table supports secured so they dont make clanging noises every time someone kicks them.Also, be aware that if you expect to use a Power and Light gift card here, it wont work in their point of sale system.

If you want to feel like youre actually going out for dinner and a show this is the place. I have been going here for years and most recently went for the premiere of the joker with my girlfriend. We had a great time and enjoyed some adult beverages while watching a dark wonderful flick. Also, love their no talking, texting, cellphone policy!! AMCI hope youre taking notes......

This is basically the only theater I like going to. They are unabashed about no talking/no texting in theater, Ive never had a movie with technical issues, and with it being a movie you can order food in Ive had more responsive waiters than many restaurants.This is a theater made by people who love movies, including even special menus for movies, like the tiny menus with a magnifying glass for Ant-Man. This is my favorite theater.
