So fun! This was our first Escape Room and we had loads of fun! All of the props and clues are really well thought out and unique. Cant really compare it to other Escape Rooms since this was our first, but I will say that other ones are going to have a lot to live up to! Very cool experience. Definitely recommend!

I’m going to echo what so many other people have said, the room was great; however, one staff member, a blonde haired guy with ear rings, doesn’t have the first clue how to be professional and how to treat customers. He was extremely rude and acted like he had a chip on his shoulder. This staff member is damaging your business. This would have been a 5 star review had it not been for this rude staff member.

Consistently terrible. Both this and the River Market location. Very rude staff who seem annoyed at all times. Room themes are fun in theory but consistently disappoint. Judgment Day in particular is in my bottom five out of almost 300 rooms.Tech regularly breaks and puzzles dont make a lot of sense. Worst company in Kansas City for sure.

The escape room itself was cool. Some of the things you really wouldn’t even have a clue to do unless it’s told to you. Crazy. But it was fun itself. Customer service on the other hand, lady was very rude. She continued to talk back to us and argue over something she could have just apologized for in the beginning. I won’t go back as long as she is there. There was a guy who came in later who was very nice and helped us out. Star for him & the game ONLY.

Anytime I travel I always check out the local escape rooms. Escape Room KC did not disappoint!Staff: The staff here were very curtiouse and welcoming. The employee with the rainbow hart hat was awesome!Location: This has to be one of the coolest Escape room locations Iv ever seen! So much history in the building just makes for an even better experience for a out of town visitor!Room design: We played the DaVinci game. The room was very well built and extremely clean. I love when rooms are very immersive. They did a really good job with this, I was very pleased!Game design: the first 3/4 of the game was great. I’m not a fan of math puzzles in escape rooms. But they didna good job at making it fun and not complicated. The rope maze was very cool! Iv never seen that in an escape room and I felt it worked really well with the theam! Unfortunately we got stuck for a long time on the table game. The game master gave us a few extra minutes but we were just burnt at that point. I would have liked it to have a better clue to help solve it for smaller groups. That being said the over all pacing of the game was great. At no point (before we got to the table) was I ever board or felt just clueless. So very good job to your game designer!I’m hoping to come back to the city soon. This escape room will definitely be on my list of places to come back too! Also the photo booth idea was awesome!!!

A quarter of the items in the Judgement Day room that needed a mechanical element to work did not function. The staff was quick to acknowledge our failures and it felt like they did not want to be there. Not our first escape room and not our first failure, but this left a bitterer taste because we lost precious time to many items not functioning. If youve been to an escape room with a cool premise with a video opening and ambiance, do not expect that there. The preface was the staff telling us that we were trapped in a room and needed to, like, solve the puzzle.

Horrible experience. I booked online. However, certain rooms are at certain locations (even though it said Union Station). I’ve been to a lot of escape room and this one while it wasn’t horrible was definitely not impressive by any means. I think what killed the experience for me was how rude one of the employees there was to my group. The guy that was working Saturday night 2/23 wearing the glasses was extremely rude and unprofessional. I think his managers need to re train him on customer service and hospitality or he should find a job he is happier at where he doesn’t have to interact with people since it seems like an inconvenience for him. The other 2 employees were actually super nice and enjoyable. That employee alone is the reason I’m leaving a 1 star review, if you want a good time without being treated poorly by staff I’d recommend a different escape room.

This was my first time in an escape room and it was awesome and intense! We had a group of 14 and they were able to accommodate. They do take reservations over the phone or online. The staff here at Escape Room KC in Union Station were pretty great! The price wasnt bad, you get an hour in the room to escape and it was worth it! It is located in beautiful Union Station, which is easy to get to and there are both free and pay for parking available, but it is $5 for up to 4 hours. Overall, this was an awesome experience and I highly recommend going and testing your luck! A+ experience!

We’ve gone to their other location and really enjoyed it. The decor of the room at this location was nice but I don’t recommend the Terminator room. There are several components of the room that take way longer than they should and waste too much of your time. There’s also one mechanical component of the puzzle that wouldn’t work properly (and took us several times of trying over and over) and wasted a lot of our time. The game master ended up having to trigger the puzzle to release its clue manually. They were nice enough to give us a bit of extra time to account for the mechanical error. I’ve done several escape rooms and always enjoy the challenging nature of them but the set up of the terminator room needs to be improved. We will be back to try the other rooms though!

I love escape rooms. I love finding clues and racing to the end and the adrenaline of it. My group of 8 participated in the 221B Baker Street room. It was OK. The only reason why we chose this location was for the discount. $30 per person is a tough price for some people, but with the 20% coupon we used it made it easier for everyone else to join in. So that is definitely a plus, that this location had that option! Unfortunately the experience wasnt that great. Even though there are cameras for the GM (game master) to be viewing and help guiding when in need or providing clues, it was like they werent even watching. So when we did ask for a hint, the GM asked questions that if they were watching, would have known were already completed. It was such a large room that several people were trying to solve clues that were already completed. Also there was no direction with the clues. One clue would only lead to another, which then was a dead end. I think the description of this particular escape room would need to include that its not truly a group effort, but that the group needs to stay separated finding their own clue to solve. The GM makes or breaks the escape room experience. My husband and I got this group together to show them how awesome an escape room is, and unfortunately fell short. When we first went in to check in, there was no welcome or acknowledgement until I went to the counter and said hello. Not a total flop, but not an escape room I would recommend.

Upon walking in , me and my brother received a vibe that we weren’t welcome or wanted . They stared at us and their greetings were unenthusiastic . Very bizarre given the field . This is supposed to be an amazing and fun environment not dull and lifeless, just a tip. The guy with the glasses who works the front was very rude to our whole party & acted super unprofessional . His demeanor was very combative. Needs to be fired. A very rude person to have in this type of field. Overall the room was decent. Not really a negative review about the room itself, just the staff and the environment they create for customers given the individuals they choose to hire . Avoid if you want a family friendly environment , they will make it their mission to make sure you have a horrible experience

Went to the Da Vinci escape room, but was VERY disappointed. Only about 5 puzzles in the entire room and was able to escape in 30 mins with 3 people. I have been doing escapes rooms for a while now (and all over the US), about 20 or so, and this one was BY FAR the WORST. There were not enough puzzles and they were very easy. Also the staff were not very friendly. Would not recommend.Disclaimer: This was the first one that I have done at the Union Station location. The escape room was fun however there was a staff memeber that was very rude and not helpful. We booked two rooms anticipating a bigger party and rather than cancel a room we decided to split in to two groups. He immediately said that he didn’t want us to waste our money and that the rooms were hard, insulting our intelligence. After getting into our room, he threatened us by kicking us out for walking around the room. The room also did not make much sense and the theme was lacking overall.

Ive done two rooms at this location and have had a good experience both times. The staff are nice and we always started on time. When I did the Da Vinci room there were 3 adults and 7 middle school girls. Our group size was probably slightly too large for this room. Too many people, too many ideas. This room was probably too difficult for the middle schoolers to do it by themselves. Heck, it was challenging for the adults!Ive also done the Dream room. This time my group was four adults. This room was challenging, but really really fun.I broke out both times and had a blast! Also, the sideways photobooth is clever.

Review №81

This was my 5th escape room and it was the worst escape room experience I have ever had. A 1 star rating is too high for what this place deserves.Upon arrival, the staff did not introduce themselves, but simply escorted my group into a room without giving any of us a chance to prepare for what we were about to do. There was little to no explanation of what we would be doing in the room or what our objective was. I asked the Gamemaster a simple question, Are any of the keys/solutions used multiple times? To which he responded with a blank stare for 15 seconds before walking out of the room simply saying good luck.During the escape room itself the timer / tablet they have mounted on the wall went back to the home screen so we could not see how long we had left for our hour. We had to wait 5-10 minutes for two different staff members to come into the room opening the exit door and ruining the ambiance / experience of being trapped in a room that youre trying to escape. Finally they got it fixed and we proceeded with the room. We are on the final clue with 5 minutes left on the clock to escape and have the correct solution to the only remaining cryptex puzzle (a 5 character spiral combination lock). After passing the puzzle around to three different team members all to no avail, we use a hint to ask how to solve it. The staff member sputters useless information that we were long past leaving us to our own witts. After one final try to open the cryptex lock, the end of it literally broke off revealing what looked like elmers glue holding it together. The metal piece fell to the floor with a clang and we all sat in disbelief as we were now 100% unable to escape the room. The staff member again opens the door, unannounced takes the puzzle out of my hands and walks into the corner without saying a word. Readjusts the combination then hands me a key, again without saying a single word. He leaves the room and we use the key to escape. After leaving the room in disbelief at how unprofessional they were and how adept they were at ruining the mood of an escape room, I asked them, Is ______ the correct combination to that lock? and one of the staff members replied in a snarky tone, Yes, and it would have worked if you didnt break it. Now we cant use that room anymore because you broke the puzzle and we dont have a replacement.I left the building frustrated and unamused. I felt like I wasted $140 on my 4 friends and myself to attempt to have fun... All just to have the unprofessional staff blame me and my friends for ruining their game which was broken from the start. I am highly dissatisfied with the entire experience and wouldnt go back even if they offered us a free round. The whole experience wasnt even boring / neutral, it was negative. Do not go to this escape room.tl;dr: Unprofessional staff literally entered the room and finished the game for us because we broke one of the puzzles. 0/5 star review. Do not go here.

My visiting sister, her fiance and I tried out the Da Vinci escape room at this location. It was well put together, the staff was very welcoming and helpful, and the challenge very fun! However, one of the locks in the room was broken, which caused us to lose significant time during the puzzle. At the end, we suggested that it be replaced. We were told that whoever managed the room decided that the replacement was too expensive, and it was deemed that it didnt need to be replaced. Something like this seriously detracted from the puzzle and seemed very unprofessional. For more than $30 per person, it seems like a very poor choice of funds not to replace a very simple combination lock. We will not be returning to this location.
