This is a small zoo that operates on donations. The majority of their animals are from rescue situations or where other facilities shut down/down sized. They care for the animals and make sure they have a good life. This is not the San Diego zoo. It is small and privately run, but there is a wide variety of animals and the staff is always willing to take time and educate the public. They are very concerned with conservation. Definitely a great place to go.

Some of the animals were in really small areas, and seemed to be stressed. Also the zoo itself could use a little bit of a face lift as a whole. However, overall, it was fantastic for its price! My kids enjoyed themselves, and that was the main goal. And they really loved being able to get so close to a few of the animals, it was really nice. Theres also a great variety. Theres tons of different types of animals, and its a much bigger zoo than I anticipated it being. It was a great surprise! Definitely would go back if I was in the area again and we needed plans.

This zoo is $8 per kid and $10 per adult. The staff is really friendly and welcoming. They offer wildlife talks during the day and they bring some of the smaller critters up so kids can see them up close and personally. Most of the zoo is shaded and it’s relatively stroller accessible, though it can be a bit bumpy/muddy at times. While we enjoy going because there is very limited activities for kids in Jacksonville, especially since Covid-19, I will say this zoo is likely not providing ideal living conditions to all of the critters. While some enclosures look adequate, others look far too small or muddy unfortunately. I hope they’re able to keep improving.

Really cool little zoo! Very laid back, some of the goats roam free which I thought was AWESOME!! The super friendly zoo keepers introduced us, to some awesome animals/reptiles. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience. My son and I had a great time talking with you guys! We really appreciate you doing all that you can during this COVID19 pandemic.

Travelled from Scotland to visit family in NC and went here for a day trip. Was not disappointing one bit, such a variety of animals to be seen, different species that you could hold, touch or feed. Some of the animals was strange to see in a zoo but only because here in Scotland they are so common to us.On my next travel over the pond I will be visiting again but hopefully with my new little cousins in the family and possibly bringing my little sister for her first visit to the USA.The man who owns it was lovely and very help full answering all my questions.

If you haven’t been here yet, GO! This is a hidden gem of Jacksonville, when you pull into the parking lot do NOT be discouraged, I’ve been curious about this place for years and we finally checked it out. 100% worth it, it’s soooo much bigger then you’d expect and a great verity of animals. The staff was SUPER friendly and awesome! Bring water and bug spray and a stroller if you’ve got young kids, we didn’t even make it all the way threw cause my daughter was tired, hot and wanted water.

We decided to visit Jacksonville for the first time, just out of curiosity. We got this extra natural place, since we both love animals it was a good plan to spend the morning. The wonderful surprise we receive is that this place is run by the owner himself, who shows an extreme dedication to the welfare of animals and visitors. I strongly recomend visit this place.

It was heartbreaking seeing all the animals in such confined enclosures with no room to run around. You could see the sadness and loneliness in their eyes as they would sit and stare at you as you walk by. Different species of birds were even grouped together in the same space that they seemed overcrowded. I also noticed that some of the animals water bowls were dirty and empty. The bobcats enclosure could use some TLC. In fact, all of the closures need serious remodeling. The zebra probably had the most room to run around out of all the animals and it would be great if the big cats and monkeys could get bigger enclosures. Overall it was great learning about the wonderful animals but the place really needs to do better by them as the animals do not have any protection against the elements or the space to be themselves and that isnt right.

Seems like a small family-owned zoo on their large property.Cash & check only (no atm available). Small dirt parking lot available. Port-a-potties (no baby changing tables) available near the entrance. Picnic tables inside near the entrance. Recommend bringing STRONG bug repellent & close-toed shoes. Small free dirt parking lot available. Dirt walking path is mildly stroller friendly w a strong push & occasional raised tree trunks to maneuver around. Staff is very friendly! Animals are presented w an educational talks. Very nice experience to see some animals on walking paths (goats, turkeys, etc), that will move out of your way. Depending on staff & availability some animals may be fed. Good for young kids.

I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this zoo experience. We were greeted at the entrance by man who was extremely kind, excited, and you could tell he loved what he did. The zoo itself isnt huge, but we spent about an hour and a half wandering. Definitely great for small kids. There is a good variety of animals, and tons of birds. You can also feed the goats. If youre visiting after it rains, consider rain boots as the paths are a little muddy, but certainly walkable. Amanda was in the park when we visited, and she was very excited to share more animals with us, let us interact with and hold the animals, and share some additional facts and information. Her passion was great and it made the experience extra enjoyable. Definitely a great way to spend an afternoon.

It was a wonderful experience! We took our boys, including our autistic 8 yr old., it was AWESOME! We are big zoo fans, for us Zoo is a verb, we love to visit zoos all over and actively support them. This little zoo was exactly what we hoped for. It was so much fun. The personal, hands on visit was AMAZING! The owners /zookeepers took time with our boys and made them feel like little VIPs. This great little zoo deserves all the support they can get. Well be back, we have a new family tradition.

Wasnt expecting much from this zoo being its located in a somewhat smaller city. But I decided to take my son here on a Sunday to check it out. Its not far from where we live and weve never visited before. As soon as you park you walk right up to the booth where you pay for admission ($10 for adult , $8 for 12yr or younger). You can also purchase feed bags for $2 each to feed some of the animals. The man at the ticket booth is so nice and friendly and very upbeat. I loved it! Happiness like that is rare these days so thank you for the introduction sir. He handed us a map and I purchased two bags of feed and it was honestly more than enough so at the end we gave what was left to the baby goats. Great assortment of animals and nice scenery. My son and I had a blast. There were two young ladies that worked there (we came across them on the trail) and they brought out some fun and exciting animals for my son to pet and hold. The girls were very nice and knowledgeable of the animals around them. Overall a great experience and will absolutely be returning. In case your wondering there was a zebra, monkeys, Bob cats, goats, snakes, turtles, and even an alligator! Thats just to name a few. There was so much more I couldnt even name them all.

This place was AMAZING! It looks tiny and Ill be honest when you go in you may be a little worried because the tickets are handed out from a shack and then you wonder into the woods. But they give you some corn and that makes all the animals want to come out and see you. All the habitats are clean the woods provide shade so they are not too hot. Everyone, from ages 3 to 66, enjoyed our visit to the zoo. The entire zoo was protected from the sun by the tree canopy. We were amazed by the variety of animals there. The enclosures were safe, but intimate, so the kids were able to get close to most of the animals. Zoo staffer Amanda brought lizards, turtles, and snakes out for the little ones to meet and interact with. She was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and excellent with the children. And the zoo is a shelter for rescued birds of prey. This zoo rates 10 stars.

My first thought pulling into the parking lot was that we may be disappointed. I couldn’t be more wrong! The zoo, animals, and property are a hidden gem!! The zoo is located on a nice piece of property that is 10 acres and has over a hundred animals they do not except credit cards cash and check only. They sell bags of corn feed in case you wish to feed some animals. They are well cared for you can see that from the way the park is up kept. You want to eat lunch yet they have picnic tables Plus there is hand sanitizer bottles throughout the park especially at the show and tell area which you can also touch if you wish but only certain animals. The park is also handicap accessible dirt paths. You are welcome bring your own lunch and enjoy a picnic table by the large pond or you can hold the party doing the tour date. I visit the park often as I enjoy spending time with animals. The owner and his volunteers are very friendly and very knowledgeable of animals which they feed every morning and evening besides what they get during the day from the many guest. They have some animals have been injured not releasable. They are open to the public Friday Saturday Sunday Monday. Open for tour groups scheduled on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and some Thursdays. During the springtime the great time to visit as thats when babies are born. One thing I forgot on my first visit but I dont forget since then bring me a camera and some bottled water. oh yes dont forget your suntan lotion cuz you could spend a long time out there and not realize you got burnt till its too late.
