Love this place!! A bit of a walk to the beach but well worth it. Showers bathrooms and bike paths. Beach has lot of shells and drift wood just do not take any of it because it is patrolled and they will fine you if you are found shelling.

Im from Florida but, moved away. I was just there for a visit and my best friend and I went to Big Talbot. Still as beautiful as I remember. It was raining but, we took advantage of the beautiful surroundings and had fun.

One of the top beach parks in the northeast coast. A wonderful beach full on really cool drift wood. The beach access requires a short to moderate walk or bike ride. Access to the major bike trail along A1A. Entrance fee is $3 per car. Lots of birds watching in the area.

We love to go walking here! Its a beautiful place to go and enjoy nature. You can see a lot of cool things on the beach including the driftwood, as well as crabs and birds, etc. There are nice paths too to run on our bike as well. Its not the best beach for swimming though as there can be some sharp shells on the bottom, but on the flip side it is nice in that its really calm.

So many beautiful places to walk, the beach isnt a sunbathing beach but its isolation is stunning. A great place to just get lost driving around, hiking, or biking. Just a short drive from civilization, its worth it.

Review №14

Beautiful park, highly recommend. Never crowded and filled with nature lovers and bird watchers. Just a short trail to get down to the beach and the boneyard - where trees have fallen into the beach due to erosion and are left there until the waters finally take them away. Great area for photographs. Cant swim, too many rocks an trees in water make it dangerous. But ideal for a peaceful walk or a nice quiet day laying in the sun.

Totally different then Little Talbott but interesting. Long path to walk to the beach so keep this in mind but more like an inlet than a beach when you get to the beach. Rocks line the shore line for a little part of the beach. Great walk if nothing else.

Absolutely amazing! Never seen something like this before. My fiancé and I love nature and the world and what she has to offer so we take in the fun things around the places we live. We drove from Daytona to Big Talbot and just enjoyed the Driftwood beach and took some cool photos. The we headed down to Little Talbot and laid out on the beach for a bit. Enjoying the weather and got to picnic there as well.

Wow!! I’ve been living in Jacksonville for almost 8 years and no one ever told me about this place!! This is awesome!! If you’ve never been here, I HIGHLY recommend you make the trip!! I came out here to take photos for the Florida State Park Photography contest, but I’m bringing my family out here next week! There is a pay fee, it’s $3 so bring cash. There is no swimming at this beach! We are too close to the shipyards and the ocean industries. But it doesn’t matter! There’s so much to see and explore at this beach!! I can’t wait to come back.

Beautiful place to hike or ride a bicycle! Lovely and well maintained pic-nic facilities in the parking area as well. The famous driftwood forest along shore is one the one the most unique shorelines in the area. The bicycle trail is paved with several small hikes along its length. Beautiful place to visit!

Ti
Review №21

This park is great for nature lovers. There are plenty of bike trails to ride. The beach is littered with driftwood and you can find a plethora of hermit crabs, fiddler crabs, and blue crabs. The trails are intense in some areas though so bring a walking stick or at least a long skinny one to clear any spiders from your path. Im not a huge fan of this beach for swimming because of all the mud and muck but otherwise, its a beautiful scenic area.

This is a really cool beach with a ton of driftwood and excellent sand-castle sand! We werent able to swim while we were there which is a bummer, but it was a great opportunity to get my kids to focus on something other than the water during a beach trip. Well worth the little 1/2 mile hike to get to it as well. If youre nearby, I wouldnt miss it!

Absolutely beautiful place. Park ranger wasnt so nice when me and my bf got lost, not being able to find the one exit/entry off the beach at 9 at night, instead of him helping us find our way out he got mad that he had to come looking for us and had to stay late for his job. His actuall words btw! We ended up having to climb a dune and jump 2 fenced or we would have slept on the beach that night!! Maybe nicer ranger would have given us a hint where the exit was!! Thx dude!!

Ranger was INCREDIBLY rude on the phone. Told me off for calling to see if there were open campsites and was extremely sarcastic and condescending. Acted like I was a complete idiot just for accidentally calling the same number multiple times. Go to a Georgia state park instead — rangers there are friendly and helpful to visitors. Won’t be coming back.

This place is beautiful. I am a photographer and frequent this space often with clients. However, I have noticed over the last few years access to the beach has been restricted. A fence has been erected to the main entrance. I just went in September 2017 and now you must hike through a 15-20 minute trail to access an entrance to the beach. The mosquitoes are unbearable in the evening hours heading back to the car. Many people seeking to see the beach with the driftwood get lost and frustrated ( there is no signage) you just kinda have to explore and find an entrance..... many trails will lead to an entrance that only after arriving you learn it has been closed off by park staff.Im not complaining about the access restriction - I am just stating facts for informational purposes.I suppose by making it harder to access they are saving the space for future generations --- as its not uncommon to see people standing touching and laying on the driftwood--- I presume after years of this it has its impacts.FYI its appearance has changed ( not as much driftwood) slightly since hurricane Irma.

Review №77

I quickly looked it up online and mistakenly thought it was dog friendly what I didnt catch from the summarized result which says at the top that its dog friendly is that your dog can only be on the trails and not on the beach. The reason for this which is very understandable is the nesting birds. This review is targeted toward going to the driftwood beach portion of the park but the no dogs on the beach goes for the entire Big Talbot Island as I understand it.

Sa

We went at sunrise to see the huge amount of birds bathing in the fresh water pool at the far north end of the park just south of the A1A bridge. There were egrets, herons galore, many water birds and gorgeous rosetta spoonbills. Its about a 1/2 mile on the boardwalk from the parking lot so wear your good walking shoes and bring bug spray and water along.
