Fun trail. A lot of the paths we took were rock but we liked the extra challenge. We did see a snake so keep an eye out as with any hike. Would definitely recommend. Little disappointed we couldnt go to the Three Caves but it was still nice to see from the gate.

A patchwork of 50-100 year old stands of mixed hardwoods and pines, dissected by trails and streams. Wildflowers, animals, fungi, and fossils abound in this beautiful example of the Cumberland Plateau Escarpment ecoregion. This is a fantastic spot for educational hikes for those interested in ecology and geology. Please enjoy, but don’t forget to pick up your trash! Help us keep these trails clean for all to enjoy

Natural Well Trail is gorgeous. So of the trails are very rocky, so be careful about twisting your ankles or falling. The parking lot is very small, so I sometimes park in the grass across the street. This area is particularly lovely in the fall, but be cautious if it has rained recently, as the rocks get slick and the wet leaves can mask the trail.

Only reason it gets 4 stars instead of five is because the trail is full of jagged sharp rocks and it gets confusing about halfway through and we got lost. Could be because Im an extreme noob when it comes to walking trails. Overall very pleasant and relaxing.

Great place to get out for a hike, or bike ride. Enjoy The Great Outdoors while still being in the backyard of Huntsville. There are many Trail options for both hiking and mountain biking. The trails seem to be cared for and for the most part well-marked. You can take one of the shorter options of less than an hour, or spend the whole day there making connections from Trail to Trail. Get off the couch, and get on out.

We did the Fagan Trail.......its rocky going down at the beginning. We hiked to the springs and took other trails back to the top. Was fun little hike. The land Trust is beautiful. The trails are well maintained. The trails run along a creek that adds so much to the walk. You often can hear owls at dusk, see deer feeding on the trail, and discover the history of Huntsville on the mountain. Its a great place to spend an afternoon. Theres a picnic area near the parking lot.

I have very fond memories of these trails. I have hiked these same trails for the better half of my life. Land Trust is an awesome organization that is so important to our communities in north al. They are preserving and protecting lands and making them available for public use every day. The trails are maintained by volunteers, and have some really beautiful scenic views, waterfalls, bridges, natural features and the Land Trust is even working to fight invasive species and help our forests maintain their native plants and varied fauna! Very grateful.

Expect to be put to work hiking here. Wear boots or proper hiking footwear because there will be muddy spots, even if it hasnt rained in a while, and the trails have large stones throughout. There arent very many steep inclines, I would say its easier than the Monte Sano trails as far as heights go. If its your first time out to the trust, definitely try the Old Railway Bed trail; good introduction to what you should expect from the other trails and its well maintained.

The wind was whipping up the hill to the top, where we were sitting on a bench in the trail. Beautiful flowering trees and shady trails made up for a little breeze, though. We were at a meeting in Asbury and saw the waterfall pics, so we decided to get out there and see what the trail looked like. It is rocky and hard to walk on. Definitely bring hiking boots for this trail! My granddaughter enjoyed 5he playground area at the entrance. We met several nice people, incuding some cute kids who sold cups of lemonade. They gave the income to the local animal rescue center,

Great place to go for a family walk its a beautiful area and well tended. Also a good idea to look at the map on the board in parking area so you know where the trails go. We didnt go far today just wanted to sit for a bit and hear the birds. Some parts are easy going But is really challenging in some parts if you go down the old railroad area and come back up tollgate area it is rocky and will give your legs a workout. Plan on taking some water with you on a hot day. We plan on supporting the land trust and recommend this trail over the state park please help support the land trust if you can they need our support to keep these awesome areas going and also be able to save more land from being taken away by developers. We have enough areas that are now gone for malls and houses these areas are the last treasures we can save for future generations to enjoy.

We very much appreciate the Land Trusts work in preserving much needed green space and maintaining miles of hiking trails. The trails are for the sure-footed (the well-shod?) as theyre in a somewhat natural state with rocks and roots aplenty. The rewards in hiking them are great, however: beauty, quiet, nature. Everyones soul needs reorienting by regular exposure to these things. Highly recommend.Nature is an infinite sphere of which the center is everywhere and the circumference nowhere.--Blaise Pascal

Some of the best nature trails I have ever been to. Being a part of the land trust they are always well maintained. Pride is taken in the clenlynes and clarity of the trails and entrances. I find most joy in the northern Alabama trails because of the mountains giving higher cardio concentrated trails, but also having some of the best views at the same time.

Always a great trail head to both the landtrust and Monte Sano State Park trails. The maps at the trail head are marked to aid in deciding which trail and its difficulty. One side of the road can lead you to Monte Sano and the other side of the road will take you down to the beautiful scenery of the Land Trust. The parking lot on Monte Sano Blvd parking has only a few parking spaces and with the thick gravel might be difficult driving.for a sub compact car. Spacing can make it tough for a full size truck too. You may park on the opposite side of the road to access trails. The trails are easily navigable and maps are available on-line or at the ranger station. There are big cliffs, waterfalls, creeks, and more for the hiking, biking and running enthusiast.
