This is a great little spot to take a walk. Theyve made an effort recently to really spruce the place up. The large wildflower prairie that the path surrounds attracts a good amount of butterflies. My favorite part of the walk is the old Evergreen Manor cemetery filled with sunken unmarked graves of former residents of the poor farm. It overlooks the Wabash river and is very peaceful. If you live nearby, its worth checking out.

Evergreen Park offers a tranquil walking area just outside the city of Huntington. The walkways are well cared for and it is not unheard of to spot several species of birds and wildlife. Ive included a photo of a cute little snail crossing my path on a warm summer morning.

Great trail. I see theyre doing some concrete work around the benches along the trail. The concrete still had forms around them and still looked wet. Some of the concrete pads had foot prints and initials carved into them already also. Smh. Im curious what theyre adding to the bench areas. Im not sure if its going to be an empty pad for wheelchair, stroller, or bicycle parking while resting; or if theyre going to put trash cans on the pads. Either way its nice to improvements being done. I would like to see an X path paved thru the middle of the loop, and maybe an addition of a gazebo in the middle. The addition of paved cross paths thru the middle of the loop would create additional options for exercise and/or a shortcut to getting to the river overlook decks. It also looks like more trails are being cut thru the surrounding woods for the frisbee golf course, or as a wilderness trail. Kudos to the work being done, presumably by the city parks dept. Another great addition would be a major upgrade to the childrens playground equipment. Currently there is just a slide, climbing wall, and some swings, prior to entering the paved path/trail.
