A really nice park, really modern. Lots to do, with a bunch a spots to just relax. Has an indoor basketball court, a pool, even tennis courts. And best of all this peace of property has a lot of history. Its amazing what it has become. Its a must go to park here in Houston.

Very nicely kept, beautiful park. Went for the memorial of black lives. Made sure we were safe, masked and distanced from each other and placed elders in the front.

You can feel the ancestors here... it is full of soul and community. As I was walking other brothers and sisters were greeting and acknowledging me. WOW!!! I talked with an elder gentleman that lives across the street from the park for about 40 minutes just hearing his stories.

Nice park with a swimming pool, community center and lush, green lawn. It is a gathering place for the predominantly black neighborhood of Third Ward in Houston. Black churches in mid 19th century had contributed money to buy the land and created the first park for blacks in Houston. You can a lot of history by visiting this park.

I grew up in 3rd ward from 1960 until 1984... it will always be home... I went to the church across the street from the Emancipation Park.Today was the 1st time I actually got out the car and actually walk the grounds... even though everything was closed due to this PANDEMIC we are all experiencing.... I will say just being there 2day gave me such a great sense of peace.. so I would just like to say Thank you for reminding me of HOME 2day...Emancipation Park is Absolutely Beautiful!!

Its a park for kids, my grands were in town & wanted to see this new park. We went on a Hot Day & could not go into the cool gym cause we didnt sign up in February. Kids 13, 4, & 7. We had to hit the heat cause their name wasent on a list 3 months Ago! And the gym Was Not Full. They just wanted to play, not spend the night, not to stay for 4 hours, just play. Sister told us No, So I want be back. Its a Free Park, what was that about? ? ?

Attended peaceful protest on May 30th here in wake of George Floyds murder. This park is really beautiful and there was a really good soul food place up the block (thats actually vegan too, get the fried mushroom po-boy). Even though tensions were high and passions raw, everyone remained peaceful and respectful.

Its a beautiful park. Lots of playground space for the kids, many interesting open areas to gather or picnic. My only issue is with the hours an access to the main buildings which house the restroom and gym and community center. The hours are weird and access somewhat restricted. I believe its stiffling attendance at the park.

What a beautiful historical landmark enriched with so much Black History. The land that housed Emancipation Park was originally purchased and owned by Blacks. After being emancipated from slavery on Juneteenth, blacks wanted a place of their own to celebrate. They came together and purchased this land and Emancipation Park was born. It is now owned and maintained by Houston Parks and Recreation services.

Very small park area, 80% of the park is the parking lot. Very unclean. Food plates left on multiple tables; flooded from previous days of rain.Random buildings with burglar bars in the middle of the park. Broken windshield glass at multiple parking lot spots. Sketchy areas and cars.Other than that, nice plants and trees, thats it really. My dog didnt really like it, since most of the grass was muddy.

I started using the exercise room about 3 months ago and Im very pleased with its cleanliness. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The only concern is the leg press has been out of order for almost 2 months. There are plenty of other ways to work out my legs but I like the press. It certainly doesnt stop me from doing my work out.
