A lot of good food choices down there and on rainy days can keep you high and dry.

It’s very convenient and somewhat makes up for the city’s lack of subway system, but not really since this is only accessible during weekday working hours. After 4 most places are closed for business for the day. It’s great if you work here and if you happen to be in downtown during open hours. You can avoid terrible weather conditions by using the tunnels to get from one point to the next. Lunchtime is the busiest time so try to avoid it or get there sooner in order to avoid the lines.

The Downtown Tunnels are essentially a gigantic convenient food court for those who work in Downtown. For Tourists:If you really want to explore, go around 10am/10:30am (some places start opening up and is more lively than a bunch of locked gates).Get lost for 30min or 1hr before lunch starts at 11am (because the tunnels start closing up after 3pm).Grab lunch at any of the food establishments you are next to.After lunch, get out of the tunnels and go sightseeing on the street level for the various sculptures and art installations. After that, head to Discovery Green Park and relax in the park. Traffic will be crazy around you between 3pm and 7pm. If you stay in downtown for dinner, there are plenty of places on the street level that are open.Have fun in downtown .

Downtown Houston Tunnel System is a 6 miles underground tunnel system with convenient food courts, barber shop, dry cleaners, and beautiful lobbies. But there are no public restrooms here, it is locked and not for public use.

If you are in town as a tourist or if you’re a Houstonian that hasn’t explored downtown then this adventure is for you! It’s an adventure all right with tunnels going from Louisiana all the way to the Gorge R Brown center! You can find shops, food stops and restaurants. Easy access to downtown from several buildings.

People are not friendly when we asked for direction. There is no public rest room!!! All security officers refused to give us the key to open the locked rest rooms. They did not let us take any picture in the tunnel....:(.

This map is completely inadequate. All I can see is one entrance, not the tunnel system.

Went the day before the 4th of July and it was absolutely dead. Very eerie for no one to be there but lots of options (had they been open). Clean and safe. A cool way to get around downtown!!

Very neat place to see an underground tunnel system that spans for 6 miles. I was with some people so I didnt travel far. There isnt public restrooms to my knowledge. Luckily and employee saw us near the restrooms. We ate there and had Chinese dumplings. Lots of food choices that represent a wide array of cuisine from Japanese, Indian, Greek, American, etc.

This is a really interesting place if you want to get to know a part of Houston that you might have not known about before. I had a great time here with my family and we all enjoyed the different stores and shops that were included in this place.

Its an interesting set up to be sure - almost like they hid all of the fast food places in Houston under the city. Stopped in to Sonic to grab a drink THEN I discovered the one accessible public restroom was closed for cleaning ...UGH! Full of cherry limeaide and bladder sloshing I finally found a place to tinkle - this city really needs to address the potty issue for those of us just there for the day to check things out! If youre in downtown and just want to stop for a quick cheap bite to eat find the tunnels because thats where they are hiding the fast food but have somewhere else planned to pee if you get anything to drink.

If youve always wanted to see the buildings from the inside, but never had a reason to actually go in, why not pop in from the bottom? We walked quite a bit and saw many beautiful lobbies and got great pics!

It was a nice experience, but you do kind of feel out of place if you arent dressed up like the rest of the professionals. It feels like an underground city, complete with dry cleaners and a barber shop. You do however have to go back up to the street level to use a restroom. Some business buildings are nice enough to let you use theirs, but most say they arent open to the public.

Was pretty cool. Dont advise going on a bussy weekday around lunch time though. It can get a bit crowded and very very personable. I kinda enjoyed how personal it was because i dont get all paranoid after i smoke marijuana. Enjoy, houston is most definitely the place to be.
