Nice area for fishing, walking, biking, jogging, kayaking or just chilling

Given the significance of this place, I was expecting a monument or a plaque commemorating the historical landing. Hence I was surprised to see how simple the park is. The only things I saw in the park was an old signboard about a paddling trail, and a stone wall with inscriptions of the words “The Town of Houston” and selected extracts of a document written by A.C. Allen. If I didnt read up about the history in my guide book and checked the location of the park in Google Maps, I would have missed the park completely. It would be nice if the authorities put up an information panel in the park to explain the history, and put up maps and directional arrows outside the park to guide visitors to the park.

I went on a hot day! Its better in Fall or Spring.

The fishing was great and they need more restrooms.

Great place to relax downtown

Very historic! You really won’t know where you are at unless someone told you. I think doing a tour of the area would be really cool!

This is where it all started, they were having a boating event. it is a historical mark with wonderful life filled people always trying to better the area.

This place is a good place in town. Right on the buoy.

Buffalo Boat Rides? Yeah! Historical landmarks? Heck yeah! Loved the boat tour. I was scared of the water though. You can see the lights and animals as well.

I recently discovered this place in Houston. Was shooting video and I was able to get some good shots here. Good place to take photos and maybe even have a little picnic here to.

Simple park and very dirty water. When I visit it looked like its been abandoned or like its not used by the city or something. Wasnt impressed at all.

Its literally underneath University of Houston Downtown, and along side the other great places Houston has to offer. It is also a historical Houston figure making it very amusing to see how Houston did its business and how Houston lived in the 1800s. It is a long walk but if you are planning on going on an never ending walk then by all means. Just be prepared to stop for incoming skaters, bikers, and joggers and of course hills because if you arent careful enough you will probably lose or hurt yourself but worth going to!

Interesting historical spot, but area totally dead, no people, on a Saturday. There is nothing else there, at such an important part of Houston history.

Allens Landing is one of my favorite parks on Buffalo Bayou in Houston. It was closed down for renovation few years ago. No one could say when to open.I was so glad to attend the annual Dragon Boat Festival on a beautiful day in May. The location is perfect for such outdoor activity.

The entire Houston riverfront is a dump

Quiet place to enjoy some Houston history. Nice views of the bayou and historical buildings.

Allen’s landing is Will be getting to Houston’s Riverwalk and trail system. From Allen’s Landing you can walk or bike from downtown to Shepherd Avenue without being inconvenienced to by any cars.

Love coming down to the water here. Tons of texas history and great views of downtown. If you want to check it out at night just be sure to bring a friend lots of people wandering through all the time.

This is the historic point where the Allen Bros first set foot in the place that would become htown.

Everyone should know and visit Allens Landing. Its the birthplace place of Houston and my favorite spot in town. Its worth making a stop but Id read up on the history beforehand or it will be absolutley meaningless. The newly restored Sunset Coffee Building and Willow Street Pump Station (former crematorium) are there as well. The University of Houston owns and rents out the station for events. Theres a small room to the left when you enter with a few photos and historical write ups. I stopped to take a look around but was kicked out by the assistant to the head of the university. Apparently its not open to the public and only for rent. Nonetheless, my son and I walk around this area from time to time so its a cool and FREE activity for kids.

We come here to eat tacos late night and take a walk. They have bike rentals as well in this area by the parking.
