Great equipment, beautiful facilities, newby clientele (totally understandable as its mostly teens). Cleanliness is too notch as well. Amenities exceed most gyms outside of something like a lifetime fitness. Prices for non-students pretty much make it not worth it for anyone unless you work on campus though.

The university gym has a great upstairs lifting area that looks over 3 basketball courts and an indoor soccer arena. You can also use the rockwall climbing area at the entrance as well as run around on the running path upstairs. There is a pool inside and outside with a rugby pitch behind the pool.

UH recreation center is one of the best among the recreation center provided by the university. Its cool with gym, swimming pool, multiple basketball/badminton courts, multipurpose rooms for yoga, sword fighting, martial arts etc. Another attraction is the rock climbing section. I saw this building and heard of it as a student at UH. I always past it by, which is across from Lot C parking lot. And I finally checked it out, and man is the building huge inside.Aside from having a workout area on the second floor inside, I never knew there was much more as rock climbing, gym play basketball and tennis and more, aquatic, sauna room, dance hall, and more I have probably didnt touch upon. This is great, for it is free for us students, and one of my favorite things about UH.

I was told to get out of the gym because of wearing tanks that we’re supposedly below my chest. That is completely fine but I’d worn the EXACT SAME tanks MANY times throughout the summer. Still, I told them that I will take care NOT to wear it next time. But I was stopped between my workout and told to go out of the gym. They suggeted that I “buy” a tshirt that they sell for like $20.I don’t think it’s right to treat a customer especially a student of the same university like this. Again, I’m fine with the rule. But it was unfortunate that I was treated like this.Rules are great but not if they are inconsistently and unfairly enforced with giving considerations to specific situations.Great facility though.

Totally mismanaged. It has been terrible for years and nobody is responsive to any inquiries regarding membership issues and other matters. It has only gotten worse over the years. But why would anyone care. Student numbers go up and membership is mandatory, so there is no incentive to make things better. Every second locker not working (but they are not marked so it takes a good while to find a working locker every time). Conflicting information from website and front desk. Terrible bathroom conditions.

For the size of the facility and the UH population, the Rec is ran like a small Mom & Pop operation. As equipment fails, someone will get to it eventually, which could be as many as several months or semesters. The management also closes the facility during its posted hours with no notice quite regularly: no email, no post on their website, no nothing. Every once and a while someone may tape a piece of paper on the door with a notice, but thats not very common. If youre serious about fitness, do NOT rely on the rec, its a joke.

My experience with intramurals has been terrible this year. We pay more and more every semester and the quality in workers just goes down. It was my last year of enjoying IMs, but it has been an unpleasant experience. One thing that this department lacks is leadership, and it starts with the coordinator Claudia Cooper. She is very unprofessional towards other students, and she seems to not care about her job. There is a lack of passion and organization and it shows with a lot of the intramural staff has no idea what going on. There have been many instances where shes blown up on students and failed to do her by not communicating to students on whats happening. Many students come to games and find out that they are not playing. I honestly miss how good intramurals was last year with the leadership of Trent and how organized it was. I really took last year for granted. Sad that this is my last experience with intramurals.

Below average campus gym that is a little bit short on weightlifting equipment and space. Doesnt help that theres only one gym on campus. Membership is included in tuition but I almost feel like its better to get people to pay for it separately it because of how inconvenient this gym is.

It really is a good place with Outdoor pool/volleyball and inside has many activities and sports to play. The 2nd floor weight is good. Be warned though. PARKING IS A NIGHTMARE and it get crowded bad during school semesters. Im knocking a star simply because of the schools Rent a Cops parking police. These idiots want you to park in Economy. ..walk to the rec..get a parking day permit for $1.50..walk back to car place it inside (if they havent written a ticket already on your journey back and forth. I would give them zero stars if it were possible. Like most of my experience at UH, the rec center was no exception in their lack of understanding and service. I had a terrible experience visiting here. I paid full price to get myself and my two kids in to the pool despite having been a student there for over a year and already paid through next semester. After waiting in line for over an hour to pay and having my kids change for the pool, the lifeguards decided to inform me that my kids arent allowed in the pool unless I get in with them and stay an arms distance away at all times. I didnt bring any swimwear and so we were turned away as soon as I had gotten in the door. I requested a refund to come back at a later day and the woman in charge was extremely rude and told me that under no circumstances would I be receiving a refund. Unreal. I paid for a service, was denied that service, and denied a refund.

Well one thing is if you loses your car keys at the rec and 15 minutes after it closes. All the employees are gone, so literally I feel like they dont conduct an end of the night report or help clean up. But when one employee does come out to help you, they tell you they cant help you or contact the manager to open the safe for lost in found to find a car key so you can go home. The mess up part is that she didnt even try to contact the manager or try to help me out in this situation. So their service is pretty awful when it comes to helping a student out in need.
