Our first time to visit...we attended a reception, followed by a musical in the theater. The facility was excellent. Valet parking was extremely well run, entering and exiting although expensive..,but other parking very close. Security on entering was plentiful and quick. The theater itself was impressive and well presented. Will look forward to the next opportunity.

Very adequate concessions on each floor with plenty of staff to keep the lines reasonable. Large clean restrooms on each level. Plenty of nearby parking. And very professional polite staff!

I visited last night to see the Color Purple. The show was EXCELLENT! The reason I am writing this review is to say thank you to the Amazing manager ( unfortunately Im unable to remember his name, and I tried calling to get his name but no one was able to help) I had a visibly issues, this manager was so kind and helpful and I cant thank him enough. He really helped to make my experience so enjoyable. I am forever grateful. Great staff! GREAT SERVICE!

The theater was absolutely gorgeous. I was pleased with the seating. It seemed that no matter where a person sat, the view was good. To top it off, the food was phenomenal and even though you cannot take food into the theater, it was well worth it. I will definitely visit again.

Too small. Parking is a mess: it can take a half hour to get to your vehicle and then another hour to finally get out to the street. We have attended events here that we have seen elsewhere (e.g., San Francisco), and its always been disappointing because the stage is too small. Even the seats are too small. The expensive seats are horrible and the cheap seats are pathetic. This is in great contrast to Jones Hall. We plan never to go back. But if you can stand the inconvenience of the physical plant, you can hear the performers; theres nothing wrong with the acoustics and sound system.

Beautiful center, nice restrooms. Entry was well organized, however, intermission seemed a bit chaotic. I am hot natured and while I was cool in the lobby, it was too warm for me during the production. Luckily, even on a cool evening event, I wore a sleeveless dress with a sweater that I was able to remove. Our seats were in Central Orchestra, Row U, seats 103 & 104.

Ive wanted to see Phanton of the Opera for over 20 years. What a wonderful performance. The cast was amazing and kept me on the edge of my seat. Parking for the event was $12. There were 3 garages within close walking distance. The center has an elevator and wheelchair entrance. Valet parking is also available. Cocktails and light snacks are available in the lobby for purchase.

I go to the Hobby Center about 12 times a year. It is a great venue to watch shows. The only reason it doesnt get 5 stars is because it takes so long to get out of the garage after a show. Worth it though to see such quality live theater in Houston!

I love going to the Hobby Center. I have been a season ticket holder for about 3 years now. I enjoy a majority of the shows that come through and even find some new favorites along the way.I cannot speak highly enough of some of the ushers/volunteers and the valet service is wonderful (over priced for something I find to be a necessity). Anna, the attendant, is absolutely amazing. It would be 5 stars, but:* My mother, also a season pass holder, is not always offered entry through the handicappable door (faster security check). Most times, when she is, Im not allowed to go through either, even though shes a high fall risk, and Im there to be her support when her cane isnt enough.* At the end of the shows, my mother always walks down the stairs because the wait time for the elevator is incapacitated by able bodied guests. Often, there is no where for her to sit while waiting, so she walks down the stairs instead. Other guests have been very rude about her being slower than most and me walking just ahead of her to catch her should she fall.* Ive been slammed in to by the elevator door because the sensor didnt go off. The steward didnt offer any response or remorse. Just turned her key and kept the elevator moving.* The concessions are WILDLY overpriced compared to some of the other performing arts halls in the area. $4 for a 16.9 ounce bottle of water? $48 for a bottle of $10 wine? $15 for a 6 ounce plate of pasta? I get it, I work for a nonprofit, too, but thats asinine.

This is truly one of the great gems of the Houston area. This iconic venue hosts some of the greatest broadway productions that have ever been created. The staff has been continuously impressive and the parking garage immediately adjacent to the center is very convenient. Thanks so much for making this world a better place through inspirational theater!

Review №33

I love the theatre, and this is such a beautiful one. Every show that Ive been to there has been spectacular. However! Just avoid the upper gallery seating, especially if youre a little larger of a person. The seats up there are noticably smaller than the seats lower down. I caught Cats there at the last minute in the upper gallery and there was so little personal space (the woman next to me was basically laying on me) that I gave up and watched the entire second half from the stair. People just really need more space to breathe than that.

Re
Review №34

I love going to the theatre here and I love the food they serve although it is pricey. However I am totally ok with that, because it is good food and youre at the theatre. I expect that. I expect to pay 4.00 for a can of coke. What I didnt expect and what I am not ok with is paying $8.00 for a thin slice of dried out chocolate cake that taste like it was something that was purchased three weeks ago and cut into the smallest slices for the sake of having chocolate cake on the menu and to last through a two week run. This cake size doesnt even compare to the other cakes there. Seriously Hobby, remove the cake as an option or at least purchase a chocolate cake that is eatable.

Ive noticed allot of changes in recent years. This year is the first year that even after curtain call people were still allowed to get to from there seats and go in and out. Also, the metal detectors took away from the experience of going to see a musical. I know...we live in sad times but there has to be a better way than making patrons feel like they are walking into a place that is presumed to have allot of from. Makes people feel uneasy. At least it for for me.

Sarofim Hall is one of the most beautiful theaters in texas. Seeing Andrew Lloyd Webbers Love Never Dies was the second time ive seen a broadway show here, and the view from mezzanine center was amazing. The acoustics are world-class, and it sounded like they could have gone without microphones if they had to. Parking is easy just like all of the theater district, park underground and walk up, make note of which staircase you used and mark it on your map. IE: parking stairs K, down two flights and to the left of the door

Great faculty, wonderful shows, bad parking.Heres the thing about the parking. Dont use the valet service unless you want to spend a lot or like waiting. I have *heard* that if you pre-tip the valet a $20 you might get a spot up front. Otherwise youre going to be put in with all the rest and it will take a while for them to get your car. A long while. You are much better to park in the underground area. It actually saves cash and youll get out faster. The trick is getting there **early**. Give yourself 30 minutes extra. Slide in easy, take a leisurely stroll through the lobby, use the restroom, and saunter to your seats. Its such a better experience to have time to enjoy yourself. Otherwise, your going to be the people all hot and upset, that everyone else will be staring at and making fun of..
