This was our second time there and it was a great time. The staff was friendly. Got a little raunchy about midnight when the hip hop started. That is when most respectable people left.

Very disappointed at the humiliating we were put through tonight. My uncle recommended this place to us so we make plans with family in Houston to come down from Dallas to have a good time. But was rejected because my sisters husband tattoo on his face. The funny part is that hes never been to jail or hurt anyone and because of a bad decision of getting a tattoo on his face when he was a kid this place was quick to stereo type. Please know that him and his wife are property managers for a corporation and deal with customer service on the daily basis and this was by far horrible customer service! That’s 9 of us they just lost business too

Really cool place! Personally I think it’s better than Wild West because of how spacious it is! All of the staff is very friendly. They play good music. Food is excellent. They have like four inside bars and an outside bar as well. Also have a mechanical bull!!!

My girl and I used to go there religiously every Thursday for our weekly date night.. But ever since the got rid of steak night, we havent gone back. Dont get me wrong, Im not talking bad about WR, Its a good place to chill, good music, and cool waitresses..just no more steaks!!

For dancing this isn’t it. People are way more active at Wild West. Most people just sit and drink. Talk about others. Have a patio we’re people also don’t dance often, just drink and hang out.

I feel their dress code is controversial on certain shirts. Is it me or is their dress code changing often? I had to visit Ross for a better shirt they said...what when were V necks not allowed man?? I wore a V neck for years here. No doorman kicked me out! The v neck was not that a problem before...you are kidding me. I am starting to dislike this nonsense.

The guy at the door was absolutely rude last night. He basically told us he didn’t believe we were the people on our drivers license he even asked my brother for his address. When we tried to contact the rest of our party inside he asked us to leave the building.Half of our group had to leave and the other half had to finish their drinks they ordered and met us at another establishment. There’s clearly a race issue I was excited about going but never will I ever step foot in this place.

I have been coming to whiskey river since 2008. For the first time EVER....I partied harder in the restroom with NeNe than I did on the patio and dance floor combined. That girl was so much fun in the friggin restroom.

This establishment is not for the colored! The staff and manager are racist. Please keep count of your drinks and check your tab before signing the ticket. An upset customer was escorted out of the facility by 3 officers because he didnt want to pay for 18 (drinks served in 30 minutes) RIDICULOUS right???? The way they handled this was completely wrong and has lost my business as a loyal customer.

We asked for a bucket and the guy at the back didn’t understand gave us a single beer and we had to reorder. They were very rude about it.

This is my favorite dance hall in and around Houston ..... Enjoyable atmosphere people are % friendly servers are on top of there game .... Atmosphere is very mixed younger and older crowds .... One of the best places I have ever been, and I cant wait to go back. Staff is amazing, always smilling and very friendly. Got there at 9pm and left only by the time the cops came saying the place was closed, I didnt want to leave, and I will sure go back. If you want to experience the real Houston country club this is the place.

On 1960, there are tons of businesses and quite a few bars or clubs to visit. Whiskey River is definitely one of the most popular if not the most popular club on it. This place is pretty big and has two dance floors. Beer and liquor prices are average and there is often food being smoked in front of the place. In all honesty, the place would be perfect if I wasn’t a man and getting charged to go there at prime time. It definitely helps build a female crowd and finances but according to demographics, Houston has a larger population of women than men, women live about 20 years longer, and women die a lot less. Ladies should be paying $10-20 a night to see us!!! Holla if ya hear me.Never forget you are also gems fellow men.#feminism #equality

We’ve been coming here for years, but tonight was awful. We normally have a great time but the dj was playing so many slow songs we couldn’t enjoy ourselves and when we asked him to play something he was so completely rude, in fact he was a straight up a$$hole. Sorry to interrupt your flirting. We watched him start a song and run off with a girl all night. What a shame it’s gone so downhill here when it used to be so fun. Too bad the dj didn’t want to do his job and was too worried about who’s bed he would be visiting tonight.

I was skeptical about coming here due to all the claims of racism, especially being I drove from Missouri City. Id never dismiss how someone feels but, I have to say. I had an awesome time. From the door men the bar tenders and the patrons. Everyone was nice and the mens bathroom was clean which is important to me. Ill definitely be back. FYI Ive never gave 5 stars to anywhere Ive been. But, I cant think of one bad thing there.

I really enjoyed going on Thursday night. It was packed. I just did not understand why they were charging 15.00 to get in. This was the place to dance. Even though it was packed you could still dance. I enjoy dancing. I will be back next Thursday. It had a mix crowd and loved the mix of music. Bartenders were friendly also. My experience was a great one. There was a mixed crowd and plenty of people to dance with.

I have had a good time here this past weekend.

Came here from out of state and didn’t know what to expect. For the first hour or so there was country music, of course, then afterwards they played regular hiphop music. Bartender was friendly. The main attraction for our group was the bull ride! It was a lot of fun. And free! The guy operating it was very friendly. Only 4 stars because it wasn’t really my type of place.

I love Thursday nights at Whiskeys, they are fun packed and overall super great music. The bar near the entrance is where they make the best drinks! There option of two dance halls is always fun especially when one side gets over crowded or just want a difference in music. Recomend it for birthdays and or girls night.

Would like to say Thank you to your staff from Security at the door, the young lady as you walk in, my bartender, and my waitress Tyfanie. I was made to feel very welcome at your place with warm smiles and conversation. Its not often outsiders are treated this way. See yall next chance I get.

Me and my friends when there for the first time the place was OK, I think the dj was pretty cool and the people seems to be calm I like it cool place to hang out!!!

The outside food they have is pretty good. Atmosphere cool they play all kinds of music from country- to hip hop, even Latin. They have an outside patio dancing area as well. With a whole another DJ & bar. You can also smoke at there. The drinks are good and they have great deals all the time.

This place is so much fun! Even if youre not there to drink, dancing will keep you busy! Love the music and the atmosphere. I even got to learn a new line dance. Cant wait to go back again soon!

Absolutely the worst bar and experience. I understand that you can not bring outside alcohol into a bar but you can throw it away before entering. We had an empty glass and because of that they would not let us in. We threw the empty glass away. We left and went next door and came back an hour later and they would still not let us in. We came for a going away party. I am beyond floored that they treat people like this that want to come to their bar. I have heard from several other people that they too have experienced the same sort of situation. There are lots of great bars and restaurants to spend your time and money and THIS IS NOT IT!!!! They are not gentleman and beyond an example of what Texas is about. Don’t waste your time or money!! The GM and anyone else who owns that bar is an embarrassment and should be ashamed in how they treat people.

This place is great! I went on a Saturday night and was able to get in for free before 10. Theyve got a phrase on their FB page that lets you get in for free.Good crowd and nice facility. Theyve got 2 dance areas! One main one, and one outside [patio area]. Theyre both awesome. Theyve got a great bull riding station set up in the back. It was pretty fun!

Maybe I should have gone a little tipsy and my time wouldnt have been as bad.. but for my first experience .. it was awful. It took me 20+ minutes to find parking.. I didnt want to illegally park across the street and get towed.. so I spent $20 to do the valet parking which they just left my car parked in the road for a good amount of time and several cars almost hit it... not a single staff member was kind or helpful...kind of acted entitled.. infact I had the door guy raise a finger at me... thats number one no no in customer service bro...a female employee yelled at me to move out of the way of the door going to the patio.... reality check these drunk fools are paying your bills.. so maybe be nice to your customers(especially the sober ones)....?? the cops were hell bent on busting people as if it were a game.. (kind of entertaining) it was beyond crowded with not enough space. The concept of the stage outside was cool and the lighting was lit literally .. and the music selection was really good... so props to that.. but most likely wont be going back.

Me and a friend came to Houston for a 2 day vacation, another friend took us here, and I did have a blast.. I like country but where Im from people dont listen much to that, besides there is no country music club in Chicago.. so this was amazing.. the staff , the drink prices etc.. and the people here knows how to dance... wish I knew.

I’ve been going to WR for the past 5 years! And never had an issue. It was my first going on a Saturday since my friends and I do Thursday nights. Anyways my friend and I got there at 1:15 and the lady said we don’t charge after 1:15 but there was 2 cops on the side and one of the cop said “charge them” seriously! I looked at him and he had a smirk on his face! That’s when I should’ve told my friend for to leave, but I didn’t! And I regret it! I should’ve told him something. It was uncalled for and obviously he was a racist cop!

DO NOT - I repeat DO NOT reserve a table for a party here. You pay money to have people stand all in the space you paid for. They sit their drinks down on YOUR reserved spot. Club security is no help - they say nothing they can do - I paid for the spot - it is mine for the night for MY friends and family - not a bunch of idiots in the bar that think they can do whatever. Big waste of time and money - will never recommend to anyone - cant give zero stars

They offered a table, free champagne, and free entry for 10 guests at my birthday celebration. Finally got the champagne after asking 4 times. Our table was a piece of wood about 12 across, held up by 2 whiskey barrels. Had stools for 4 people, very small label on the wood that said Reserved, which drinks covered up, so no one in the general population knew that the piece of wood was reserved. We asked to be moved to a real table, and were told nothing was available. Had several real tables open most of the night. Sign on them said reserved as well, but the people either never arrived, or arrived very late. Be careful of their specials because, in this case, they are not what they advertise. We could have stood at the bar and done as well as what they reserved for us. WR, dont offer a table and give patrons a 12 wide piece of wood to make do with!

I would actually rate it a 3 and a half, because while the music and dance floor inside are fantastic, they have no pool tables, and the outside music and dance floor leave a bit to be desired.

I didn’t even make it in. I got out of my Uber and had a water bottle mixed with Mountain Dew and yes the bottle previously had alcohol but not then and i wasn’t trying to take it in and he came and wouldn’t let anyone in. I understand if he would’ve said loose the bottle or no entry or told me no and let my friends in. There’s no reason why he should’ve kept them from going without me. Lost about 15 people’s business. Been there 4 times over past few months. I dont write reviews, but this place is local and I support them. Great place with a good music mix. Fun and friendly crowd. The bartenders are attentive. Some reviews said the bouncers are strict. My experience is that we can cut loose, drink more than our share, talk with the staff, and since we never give staff a hard time - we always have a good time.

Overall a good place for drinks and dancing. The drink specials are very good if you make them on time and the regular price is similar to the bars around. Love the indoor and outside options for the place since both DJs play different music. The music that they play is great and the dance floor is just big enough

Nice bar to go to with family and friends, was there with a group recently and although we supposedly had a waitress that was taking care of our group, we found it easier and more convenient to just go to the bar to get our drinks... also, the outside was more fun than the inside.I prefer heavy metal bars over country bars but this one was OK and that was a little shocking to me too lol

Went here with friends and had a great time. They had the Rockets game on a projected screen out on the patio...the drinks werent watered down. The people were friendly. Hey, what more can you ask for. The music was diverse and the dance floors (there are 2) were both jumping; it was pretty hype.

I haven’t stepped a foot in this place. Got an invitation on POF and although the reviews are fairly fair, Man!!! Your bad reviews are so distrubing I had to leave one myself. But let’s be real to everyone you exclaimed racism. Almost any town outside of Houston are full of Red Necks that thinks it’s still the 1960s. Lol FM 1960??? Anyway but yeah.

Do not come here unless you are willing to risk being assaulted. Never in my life have I ever been kicked out of an establishment. To make matters worse. Out of 25 people, none of us can figure out what would cause them to do this. Last Saturday was my birthday and it was me and 8 other friends, including another group of 15 friends. After reading past reviews, I should have seen that this place has a knack for kicking people out without cause or justification. Me and this wonderful lady I met that night were by the bar buying drinks when an employee and police officer decided to walk up and tell both of us we had to leave. I complied without hesitation. As we were walking I turned my head just to ask if they will tell me why when we get out. The employee said yes. The clear discrimination was apparent when we walked by the ladys friends and they pulled her to their group. After a brief discussion the police officer allowed her to stay, but said I still have to leave. When I was outside, the employee said something to the door man and left. I asked the doorman why they didnt tell me why I was kicked out. Then 3 police officers decide to assault me behind my back. They also did not tell me why they were doing this. They simply asked for my phone and proceeded to dial my friends at which point they let me go. I still have the scars on my wrist. Whiskey river you have a lot of nerve, when everyone including both groups of my friends saw no reason for us being kicked out. No one should visit here. It is more of a mafia than anything. Unneeded assaults on a paying customer is liable to have legal ramifications if you do this to someone more financially well-off in the future.

Country themed bar. I few of my friends love this place for the dance floor. Parking is the only complaint. So popular that parking goes to mall and other shopping/restaurants parking areas.

Disappointed bc I had fun the first time I went but the second time was not allowed in because I upset 40 customers last time I came in with short shorts. So instead of being accepting the manager decided that it was best not to allow me in. I understand customers are important but like I said Im sure Wild West has gotten some complaints from customers for my shorts as well but instead of denying me entry they decided to continue to allow me in and not allow their customers to discriminate against me or what I choose to wear. Unlike the staff here at Whiskey River and for that reason I no longer visit WR.

My cousin and I attended this bar on July 20, 2018. And we both walked away very impressed. And we plan on returning very soon to see if we have a similar or even better experience than our first time.Ive read through a few reviews on here and I cant speak for everyone else but me and my cousin both have experienced racism in the past at so call diverse clubs. Weve been profiled for having baggy jeans, shirts to long, no shorts, no tennis shoes, hell even by not being cleanly shaved. Only to see caucasians and Hispanics get in with the same clothing and appearance we were just denied from getting in. Even been harrassed by security officers or told by bouncers if we want to get in we can pay extra to get in. All of these reasons played a part in me not attending bars/clubs for years unless it was a family occasion or party. So Ill be lying if I said I wasnt a bit nervous approaching the front door to present my ID to the doorman thinking to myself here we go again. Only to walk up greet the door man (which he aknowledged and greeting me back) and present my ID and walk in with no issues at all. There were also 2 police officers next to the entrance who were engaged in conversation and didnt interfere with the door man at all. My cousin and I entered the establishment and immediately was impressed with the many beautiful women of ALL races attending. And just how diverse the club was. We didnt get any ugly stares or get the feeling of being unwanted or out of place. The bar staff was nice and we wasnt harassed by any bouncer/security about dress code or anything. We even noticed a few biracial couples that appeared to be enjoying themselves even african american couples appearing to be enjoying themselvs having fun. We showed up at around 12:00am and stayed until 1:40am. I also like how the DJ played a bit of hiphop after a long stint of country songs. Wasnt expecting this because hey its a country bar/club. I decided to try out Whiskey River after a friend of my uncle spoke highly of it and recommend we try it out after his nephew and family enjoyed themselves there. And not that its worth mentioning. But with the few reviews I read crying wolf about the establishment being racist. My cousin and I both enjoyed ourselves even though we were only there a under 2 hours. I cant speak for everyone or even say that those reviewers were lying about their experience here. My cousin and myself are both African Americans and we had a blast. Every staff member we came into contact with greeted us and had great customer service. I hope when I return soon that Ill have the same experience or even a better one. Because I sure planning on learning how to 2 step and boot scoop boogying while meeting beautiful women. great place based on my first experience.

I have never felt DISCRIMINATED against, FOLLOWED, and WATCHED than I did at this establishment on Friday November 1st. I per-purchased 20 beers and two bottles and a large table. Why? Because we didnt go on the BLACK FOLKS night (Thursday). It was So bad that we all decided to go outside and 5 min. later the Ex-Meth Head Owner ran outside looking to see where my group of seven Educated Professional Women and two men were at. As soon as we were spotted The person that was watching us inside came outside along with 4 Police Offices... They stood there and watch us the entire night! And I forgot to mention that my husband and his two friends had to leave because his friend were SAGGING. What 64 300lb man do you know wheres there pants above there large stomach? SO UNLESS YOU ARE OF THE CAUCASIAN PERSUASION dont go and if you do make it aTHURSDAY NIGHT. Thats when they dont mind people of COLOR!

The place is going down hill fast, it is not much of a country and western bar anymore. They seem to lacking on enforcing a dress code, looks way over crowded.They dont seem to care about keeping employes much, I have seen the way people are treated over there, Manager is only profit motivated and worried about his bonus check. I still have not received my last pay check yet. That good ole phrase the check is in the mail.
