The Big Easy is a fantastic live music dive bar that focuses on Blues music and has some of the best fun in town! They also have Zydeco on most Sundays. There is a good dance floor and patrons are known to get down and boogie. They do not have a wait staff but the bartenders are excellent, the drinkd are reasonably priced, and this is a well-run establishment. Tom is the owner and hes the bearded philosopher taking a $5 cover charge at the door on Friday and Saturday nights. The parking here is a bit challenging (but well worth it!). You can park in the Firestone lot (when they are closed), on the side streets, or behind the bank. If you get there by 9 p.m. you can usually find a parking spot. Bands go on at 9:30 p.m. (earlier on Sundays).Attire is anything you want but mostly causal. This place close to Rice Village and attracts an eclectic clientele so you may see Rice students, couples, 40+ year old singles, etc. Everyone having a good time! The music is outstanding so check the calendar on their website. And the Houston Blues Society meets here on the last Thursday of every month for their monthly Blues Jam, which is always a blast!

After 26 years, The Big Easy has established itself as one of the premier Blues Clubs in the world! With stellar local talent combined with touring musicians, an ample dance floor, and great libations, The Big Easy Social and Pleasure Club offers up live Blues six nights a week (Monday-Saturday), and live Zydeco on the seventh day (Sunday). Centrally located on the edge of the Rice Village at 5731 Kirby Drive, offers something for everyone!

The Big Easy is a great blues bar. A Houston tradition for at least 25 years. The clientele is a crazy mix. Rice students, River Oaks folks, and everyone in between. Tom is the owner and works the door. Drinks and beer are good and not too pricey. Sunday nights are zydeco.

If you want to hear authentic Houston Blues Music come right on in. The owner Thom runs a fine establishment. Strong drinks, eclectic crowd, world class artists, open dance floor, 2 pool tables, outdoor patio, grill masters on select weekends, this is a hidden gem.

This is a great place have a good craft beer or even the regular stuff, they make one hell of a drink and always good live music. The blues is their game and the Big Easy is their name. Bartenders are always nice and the owner is typically there on nights when they have music hes one cool cat. They make you feel right at home and the dance floor is typically hoppin. Go pay them a visit, you wont regret it.

Hardly ever disappointed when we go their to hear classic blues, dance and hang out. You can show up in jeans and a t-shirt or a tux and formal dress after a fancy party....and the guy who hits the dance floor on his roller skates, who seems to work there, is a hoot!

Great venue. Loved the mix of blues and Sunday night zydeco. The place is a dive bar but that is essential for the feel of the music! I highly recommend the place.Cons. There is no table service. The bartender is pleasant but can be hard to get his attention. There is no food on premises. Come early and dine out at one of the many local restaurants.

Pretty good. The music by Monkey Beat was more rock than bluesy, but they were definitely talented. The drunken dancing by audience members was quite amusing! I made a friend who said the Houston Blues Association does a free jam session there every last Thursday of the month. So Ill be back.

The Big Easy Social and Pleasure Club has served up the best blues in Houston for so long the best blues venue award was retired for a few years. There is live blues at The Big Easy every night of the week free!!! except Friday and Saturday. It was only a few years ago that a whopping $5 cover was initiated. The club owner provides the venue and staff for many benefit concerts and many of the top blues musicians in Houston volunteer their talents to raise funds for their fellow musicians in need. And The Big Easy calendars are awesome.

Been there many times and really like it. An intimate dive bar with a variety of blues bands. All age groups. Im 70 and feel like I fit in. Always feel safe as owner is at door and monitors rest of place from there. The bands are local sometimes, another texas city or even out of state sometimes. Cover is $5.00.The ONLY negative is parking can be difficult. But, Ive been to around 10 dive bars in Houston area and I cant think of one that has ample parking.

Music lovers rejoice! The hallowed home of Houston Blues. Featuring the best of local and national/international acts. A great mix-up of college student to seniors in the crowd, the one thing they all have in common is their love of the genre. The patio up front is like a playground for adults. Nice bartenders. The proprietor can come across as curmudgeonly but dont be fooled - hes actually a great guy. Just go and have fun. Satisfaction guaranteed!

Big Easy is a dark, old, bar with an unimpressive exterior. On the inside you find a lovely, lively and intimate place full of blues enthusiasts. I have never been disappointed with one of their musicians. Now, I am no blues aficianado, but as someone who can appreciate the art I have been very impressed. Dont expect a place to sit because the seats fill fast, but I found myself on the dance floor more often than in a seat.

On a random, chilly night, we were on the quest to find live music and a hopping bar that was anywhere but midtown. Somehow we stumbled upon The Big Easy and could not be happier. This dive-y bar is tucked away on Kirby and looks like it has been abandoned for years. We walked inside with low expectations. We are two very down to earth girls and up for anything so knew we were in for an adventure. After our initial hesitations we discovered we were in for a treat. We got there around 8:30pm which apparently is very early. The local band, Luther and the Healers, actually goes on stage at 9:30pm unbeknownst to us. Luckily, we stuck around long around to see them play and the crowd file in. The place was soon packed and filled with regulars. I enjoyed watching the amazing couples dance and whirl. If you are looking for a good authentic place with friendly people and phenomenal music, you have found it. I will definitely will be back for weeks to come!

Give it 5 minutes, the ambiance alone will have you hooked
