This art experience is like nothing else in houston, and everyone should stop in for a long drink of soul inspiration. franny koelsch-jeffries is the owner and curator of the long-running koelsch gallery (1994). the gallery, also offered as koelsch haus, has been responsible for connecting locals with art and inspired designs that are thought-provoking, unexpected, and masterfully crafted.the gallery now features a line of clothing, ears of buddha, designed by franny, inspired by her father, and produced locally. expect to see wearable pieces in crisp fabrics that will set you apart.i have attended one recent event, the re-launch in late May 2019, and had a chance to interact with the artists themselves, like the talented claire cusack. my favorite pieces, which speak to societal norms and gender roles, were from donna rosenthal. jen blazinas voice is articulated with her found objects, representing both the past and present. many other artists are featured, too many to describe in this review.the best part of koelsch haus is the authenticity and genuine passion for art; Houstonians and visitors alike can expect the opportunity to quietly observe or openly discuss the pieces with no pretense or pressure. additionally, private consultations are offered, should you prefer to discuss more personal needs and intentions for your space.my favorite motto was presented on a poster at the re-launch: art saves- it truly does!
