The experience is great. I would love to see more variety in their residence artist. It is always metal and clay. Once in a while they may have a fiber artist. Where is the glass? There a wonderful glass artist in Houston and I know some have applied

We love this little museum, which currently has an impressive exhibit on the material culture/memory of natural disaster loss. Before this was an exhibit the kiddos loved on Mexican food. We sent my stepson here for summer camp and he loved it (his artwork featured in one of the photos). They have lots of free art days that we attend and make art at.

Objects Redux. Crafts from 1969 show versus contemporary crafts. Also fiber art from Houston hurricanes. A great show worth seeing, and meet current resident artists. And its all free admission.

I love visiting here. Although the Center is on the small size, they have the most amazing exhibits. Every time I go they have something new and wonderful. In addition to the exhibits, they have workshops you can participate in and artists on hand that you can watch at their craft. It is well worth the visit time and time again.

I just missed the annual bowl event - I dont know why I never hear about it until its too late - and so when I went they were packing up and a whole large room was out of commission. That meant what was there was pretty limited. A couple of artists had their studios open but otherwise the main display was jewelry, which was fun, but our visit probably only lasted around 20 min. However, Ill go back; Im sure there will be something new to like soon!

Im new to Houston so I was very impressed when I walked into this Village of the small Museum building and noticed that it had artist-in-residence it has large displays from a couple of different artist some of which kind of pushed racial boundaries there was hyper realistic artwork there was a lot of artwork that evoked Decay a lot of experimental pieces that showed a lot of talent using Ceramics I just really enjoyed my time there and the curators are very friendly oh and also theres sort of an attached to garden and I definitely enjoyed walking through the green space and getting a show my boyfriend some of the different plants

The exhibits and center were nice. We liked the residency program. The 3 or 4 exhibits were interesting. However, I felt that it was sparse and adding more crafts with layers of complexity would appeal to a larger audience.

This is my favorite art museum in Houston. It may be small, but the exhibits are top notch. You never know what you will see! Some of my recent favorites were basketry, neon signs, and my all time favorite was sign painting. It is free to go. They have an amazing gift shop with local artists wares to purchase. If you venture away from the main gallery you even get to peak inside the artists in residence’s studios. So fun!

The Center for Contemporary Craft is always one of my favorite places to go. Its always fun to look in the gift shop and see what pieces the artists have been working on. Its totally free to enter, which makes it a great spot for any art lover or someone on a budget looking for a hidden gem in the city. Right now, theyre in between exhibits, but they always have pop-up shows that can include pottery or other forms of craft. But dont be dissatisfied if theres no exhibit- you can always go to the back of the building and watch the resident artists work, or chit chat with them! The student Bai Lai made the works in my pictures- all out of paper! Unfortunately, they were not in when I went but I was very moved. Dont forget to stop by the bathrooms for pamphlets on whats going on in the art scene, theatre scene and exhibits around the city!

This center is a premier location for seeing unusual art. Unusual yes but real, great and true art. Craft is the key word here, all you see is based on craft. Always enjoy seeing the shows, sometimes twice like we did last year for the neon lights. Not your typical beer lights but innovative expressions created in neon lights.

Enjoyed interacting with the artists and their pieces.Abis large embroidery piece pleasently haunts me. A dream fort of whispers, a portal into a mystical web of threads pulled from the mind, I could lose myself in this space, feeling safe, harbored amongst these wings of light and air. It is like a veil, a thin veil that invites exploration of what may be caught in the changing pattern.Thank you for the re-membering.

Displays were few, but interesting if you dont look to close. More than a passing glance enlightens your senses to the fact that this place has a very one sided political agenda. I had pictures of displays until I realized the theme of the approximately 5 different displays. Reserve donations until you finish the short tour, They displayed their opinions and I now displayed mine. I felt cheated.
