While staying in Hilo, this park was close and gave good views on city and mountains to east. Nice Japanese style park (not as formal). Lots of people and local are nice. There are feral mongoose in park so wild life is limited. Always wet. Last tsunami was in 1960.

These gardens were lovely to walk around in in the early evening. Watch out for snails and frogs! One star down because there were people sleeping in the park, and it wasnt well lit enough for me to feel safe walking here alone.

This park is a classic place in town to eat, stroll, relax, fish, etc. Its typically pretty busy, and for good reason, there are benches and bathrooms and big banyan trees. People rest in the cool shady spots and inhale the warm breeze, its a nice spot to rest and do as they please.

Its beautiful. I got to see some little birds NOT native to the north, where Im from, and super old trees. Were it emptier, Id have rolled through the grass like a dog - which I dont think are permitted there.

Great place for a walk next to bay, nice Japanese garden, although high tide is flooding out the bridges and other structures, that even adds to the parks interest.

It is a spacious Japanese style park with ponds that you can fish from,,bridges ,benches scattered throughout. A great place to take nice pictures, perfect for picnics, nice walks.., there are bathrooms on the topside of the park, however, keep in mind they are public restrooms, so they may not be clean.

My favorite place to clear my mind, walk, and run. Great views of the bay. Chances to see paddlers, sailboats, and occasional kiteboarders on the bay. The park host several plaques of history associated with this space. Four arched enterances, several Japanese lanterns, tea house, many park benches, and bridges. You can often find a wedding taking place, a photo shoot, dog walking (on leash), and people getting their exercise on. A place I keep coming back to.

Liliuokalani Gardens is a Japanese style garden that is a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery around you. There are many paths to walk around and view the various features in the park, a lovely tea house that was built by the Urusenke Tea Society in Kyoto and is host to an annual celebration with Hula, cultural activities and food for the family. Liliuokalani Gardens is also very close to Suisans Fish Market so I would recommend picking up some Poke and sitting by the ocean side or in one of the many pavilions.

Liliuokalani Japanese Gardens celebrating 100 years this year represents the balance of nature..beautifully landscaped in a sunken cove in Hilo bay the garden flows outward in an ergonamic detour of pathways..rock river bottoms..pagoda..bamboo thatches..shady ironwood trees, mango, pine, monkey pod, banyan, palm kiawe and kukui with each twist and narrow lava rock pathway the fish rise up like birds chirping in a languid idyllic scene in.real 3D from Aunt Tillies vintage Hawaii postcard to popping out in the NOW moment..small bridges to climb more turns on the path ahead ah haa ..a microcosm of life..a natural metaphor..
