Go here BEFORE visiting any other wineries in Oregon!! You will learn about the history of wine making in Oregon and how the terroir of the area makes each wine unique. We took a walk to where the wine was made and even got to sample some very young wine right out of the barrel! Before we sampled the wine, John talked us through step by step how to taste the wine. He talked about each wine we tasted and was very interested in what WE tasted with each pour. He really wanted to hear our feedback and what our thoughts were about each wine. We enjoyed Johns personality and presentation. If you want to learn more about wine making and wine tasting, this is the place to go.

Beautiful scenery. Relaxed, low-key, unpretentious vibe with a shaded outdoor tasting area. Dog-friendly. The tasting flight was $15 for five wines—they even included three extra tastes on the afternoon we visited. We joined their club and look forward to visiting often!

This Review is long overdue! I visited the winery in mid July and it was amazing! It was the most informative wine tour Ive ever been apart off. My friend and I came for an impromptu COVID trip and the staff was so very hospitable, the wine was amazing, and the weather was perfect! I am now joining the wine club!.

Sub Par service and similar to cheap convenience store wine. Tasting pour was less than most. Great location but the grounds could be so much more.

I live in Orenco and when I have family and/or friends visiting I bring them to “John’s” Helvetia Winery. This last August my son and his wife bought a case of the varietals they enjoyed. I will be at their home in San Diego for Thanksgiving and they will pour Helvetia wines for our special day. How they weren’t tempted to open and enjoy them until our celebration is a mystery to me. These fine will compliment our feast.

Such a great place to spend an afternoon. The house and surrounding area are full of interesting history that John told us all about while we sipped on some very tasty wine. John is full of knowledge about the process of wine making, and we learned so much while we were here! Thank you for the wonderful afternoon!

So glad we decided to randomly check this place out! The girl who served us was kind and informative and it didnt feel intimidating at all. The owner was incredibly nice, told us some amazing facts about the area and suggested a couple fun places to go eat! I bought some of their very lovely wine and plan to go back soon.

Quite a rustic place, not like the other more upscale wineries we have been to. It seems to be a popular place for dog owners...there were 7 running around, which was fine with me, but when the dogs owners keep calling them, it certainly breaks any peacefulness.

Great setting and a great old farmhouse with personal significance to me. It was built by my great great grandfather in the early 1900s. He raised his family, including my great grandfather there. The fam often have reunions here and the wine is quite good.

Bought the tour and tastings on Groupon. Learned a lot about the area, the soil, the climate and the fermentation process at Helvetia. John is a great tour host. Wish the Salmon and crackers servings advertised in the tour were more substantial.
