This is a beautiful trail with great views and a flat, paved pathway. It is by no means a true hike, but it makes for a lovely nature walk and I imagine a superb biking/running trail as well. There is quite a bit of direct sunlight, and it is quiet despite being relatively popular for the area! The dog park is large and also seems quite nice, although my experience was from a distance and, perhaps more importantly, without a dog of my own.

Usually love taking my large dog here since it’s fenced and there are size specific areas (large dog/small dog). However, it would be nice if dog owners would be more mindful to the small and large dog specific signs. Your dog might be fine playing with every dog, but not everyone’s dogs will be fine playing with your dog. I have a 90 lb Akita that does not get along with smaller dogs and there were 4-5 dogs under 30 lbs in the large dog area last night, forcing us to use the small dog area (which was completely empty) to get her some exercise and play time. Just be more considerate of others, there are signs for a reason!

Good bike trail, pretty much flat , straight and surrounded by trees.Best for evening rides and morning rides.I would recommend this trail. Not the best in town but worth trying once. Will take about 1-2hr max for round trip at normal pace.Scenic drive through the Ohio country side along cornfields.Dog park at trailhead.

This a great easy trail for beginners and if you want a short ride after work. The trail is only about 6.1 miles long and mostly straight an flat. Other than a few minor bumps here and there from the seems in the asphalt. There is also ample parking at either the Heritage dog park area or at Homestead park near the beginning of the trail.

Lots of space for the dogs to run. Both a small dog and large dog section. However, its a bit too hot to not have the water available for the dogs to be in. We drove 40 minutes specifically for the water feature, and its not on.

This is my favorite dog park in the Columbus area. It is usually well populated but not crowded, and the people and dogs are generally courteous and well-behaved. The park is well maintained, and they do a good job of fencing off trouble spots, but then again, dogs will be dogs. We visited today (5/30/18) and there was a nest of baby bunnies next to the wooden jump on the big side. They are covered by a plastic net, but if your dog has any hunting instinct, you may want to avoid that area until the bunnies move out.

From the perspective of an online skater:Lots of busy roads to cross with rough brick and at stop lights. Also pale samon colored strips that are at cross walks are quite rough unless have some speed but being that you have to stop first, its just not possible. Many parts of the path are rough, slow, and many tree trucks sticking up in path.

Nice, needs shade. Fencing limits dogs freedom. Lack of shade eliminates hot sunny day use. My dog enjoyed the water feature. Still does not compare to Whetstone and Park of Roses

Its a great dog park but nothing else. Dont come expecting to find things to do with kids. Homestead park is just down the bike path which is a great park for families. This park is also good if you want to park a car and then go West up the trail to avoid the foot traffic that build up on the bike path east of here.

Great dog park! Nice trail, too. Theres a section for small dogs and a section for bigger dogs. The dog park is on Hayden Run Road, west of Giant Eagle. In the park is a community water bowl, a few upward sprinklers that some dogs drink out of, and a little mound with two tunnels for the dogs to run in and out of. Theres also a little park shelter in the center of the park to get settled in. Sooo much space!! This place is great to spend an evening. Even if there arent any dogs there, your dog can run around and explore the park. I take my Henry there (see the profile picture) and he always gets excited! I love this park, highly recommend.

Visited the dog park located at the heritage trail park.the dog park is nice being divided into two halves one for small and one for larger dogs. Only thing to note is on the side where the small dogportion of the park is there is some high decorative grass that I can see a corgi or a dachshund getting lost in and maybe harder to retrieve.other than that the park is actually relatively clean given that its a dog parkand the facilities overall for the dogs and area to sit for dog handlers is quite nice.

I grew up in Hilliard and still run/walk this trail. Its been pretty well maintained and the areas between roads have been redone by the city. The head of the trail near the Makoy center to Cemetery Pike is a total of 6.1 miles. You start out in Old Hilliard and will eventually encounter Homestead Metro Park, and then the dog park just north of Hayden Run Rd. They have an area for little dogs and an area for super sized giant k9s.

This is my favorite trail near Columbus. I roller blade and this is the only trail that is fairly clear from leaves, twigs and other fall- producing debris year round. It has 5 road crossings for the entire length, but only 3 usually have traffic. The views are classic Ohio corn fields in summer, although houses are springing up in what used to be farm land. Due to its lack of tree cover, it can be really hot in summer. Love this trail!!

Me and my shihtzus love this park and hv been visiting almost 3 years... really no complaints except maybe we can start a fund for new pools for both sides and a better supply of poop bags. I donate a large pool for the big dog side every year, bcuz Thts where I see most dogs playing in the pools, and a new one only lasts around 3-5wks. I wouldn’t mind pitching in on the fund or maybe start a fund for these needed things. Though I hv small dogs, we only play on the big dog side bcuz of the large amount of extremely nice and well behaved bigger dogs. Thanks to all the pup parents I’ve come across since I’ve been visiting, a nice group of people. Also thanks for keeping it very clean and beautiful !

This is a really nice place to take your furkids. It has a fenced in area that separates large and small dogs. You can turn your dogs loose and let them run without any worries. Theres underground water sprinklers that spray for the dogs to run through and cool off. Theres 4-5 metal dog bowls to put water in. Theres tunnels and other things for the dogs to enjoy themselves with. And theres also benches and a Shelter house on each side. So if youd like to turn your dogs loose and let them run without any worries this is the park. Make sure you bring mosquitos spray with you the mosquitos get really bad in the summer evenings. If your in too biking theres also a nice long bike path to ride on beside the dog park. This park has a port a potty.

I think overall this is a great trail, but at times it gets way too crowed and people seem to be rude on this trail. For instance I had biker whiz right beside me as I was walking on the trail. That is not proper etiquette. Also in general I get a mixed response from people on the trail some seem friendly others seem like they are stuck up. So I dont get it. Ive been on other trails in general area and people seem to be way nicer, so it has to be something with the immediate area.

This is a beautiful park and its a shame how dog owners are letting their dogs poop on the paths. They provide dog poop bags use them !I clean up all my dogs poop and its not my job to keep picking up your dogs crap !! Its being irresponsible as a dog owner period. Excellent place to train for half marathon. The length is roughly 6.5 miles from downtown Hilliard to Plain City. Its an old rail-road track turned trail. Wish there were caution lights for pedestrians to activate when the trail crosses the streets. Cars on Cosgray and Leppert Road can be going pretty fast sometimes.

Nice trail that I have used regularly for years. Over the last couple of years, maintenance people have become careless when trimming grass and brush, almost hitting me and others on multiple occasions. In addition, they do not sweep path following brush trimming resulting in me falling and dislocating shoulder in February 2017 ( +$7k ER bill).

My husband and I recently discovered this park and love it. We have a very small yard and our dogs have to be on a leash at all times. Letting them off leash to run like crazy makes them so happy. And us very happy too. By the time they get home they are wiped out for the rest of the day. The fountains are great for both dogs and people especially when its very hot out! Only one draw back, the last time we were there they were out of poop baggies. So its a good idea to bring your own just in case.
