So I came in to get a custom frame Created. Sarah in the frame department helped me through the entire process. She was polite, friendly and knowledgeable. We had some issues on the order fulfillment on the third party side. But Amy and Jacob the store manager helped through the mess up. They were very committed to making things right even though it was not their fault. This type of customer service is hard to find in this world. I’m glad it exists right here in Hickory. The final product came out flawless. As it’s a wedding gift to my wife to be. I’m really happy and highly recommend the custom framing department. Make sure to ask for Sarah!

The man-eating plants were funny looking and I loved it. A little pricey at $49.99 a pop, but still cool. I like the deals Michaels has, but I would love to see more things cross-stitching things. Its hard to find cross- stitching patterns anywhere anymore. Still a good place to shop.

This place is a home decor dream. I had no idea that it would be as awesome as it was. The store was well stocked, clean, easy to navigate and find what you need and the staff was very friendly. I needed cotton stems to complete a project and Michaels was the only place I could find them in stock. I got to the store and went to the aisle listed on the site (nice touch) and couldnt find them. An employee went straight to the back and brought them out to me.

Very helpful staff. We didnt get what we aimed to find but the alternative proved to work surprisingly effective. Happy with our purchase. Will visit next time.

Michaels is a great store but the staff lie. they say online that they will take coupons from competitors. well I asked for that and she said yes at first and when I was going to give it to her then she changed her mind to no. that they just stopped doing that which I thought was very rude and also I had a coupon code it didnt have the barcode but it had the letter code and she would not accept that even though it was an acceptable coupon. I was very disappointed in that I probably will not ever go back I will go to Hobby Lobby

They didnt have a lot of the things I was looking for. They didnt have craft acorns or pine cones. The embellishment section didnt have a good selection. The prices were high compared to other craft stores.

I have to STRONGLY recommended Amy in their Custom Framing Dept in Hickory, NC. We are avid art collectors and she is the ONLY person I want handling our valuable treasures. She takes such an extra special approach to designing and implementing ideas that give it a personal touch often lacking at chain stores like this. This is value framing, discount implies its cheap. And with Amy looking after your piece, its more than a value. Thanks so much and after the couple thousand dollars worth of framing youve already done we look forward to getting much much more done by her. True professional, 5 stars all day long.

Newer store, bright and filled to the brim with great ideas on every aisle.

Its more of a general craft store rather than having any of the harder to find elements of whatever art you want to make. Having said that, it does have the largest selection of candle scents in town l.

It has lots to offer but didnt particularly have what I needed when I went shopping recently. But I really like what theyve done with the place! Its gotten a lot more organized, fancy and much more cozy than way back when I used to visit for the occasional supplies. Definitely recommend it for a quick art and crafts run.

Well Michaels is not what it used to be I just dont care for the store anymore their prices are exactly well not even exactly theyre higher than Walmart Id rather go Hobby Lobby Walmart but I give this a to I just dont care for Michaels I will not be going back

I went into Michaels to buy recloseable bags. I asked the lady that works there where they were located in the store. She told me. So I went the front of the store where the bins are and there is a sign clear as day buy 2 get 1 free on the recloseable bags which I assumed were all the bags in the bin by the register where the sign was located. I grab 3 and processed to the register. The cashier rings me up and proceeds to tell me the ones I got were not on sale. So I told her I grab the ones that were in the bin with the sign on it. She was very rude did not offer to show me which ones were on sale so I told her just to ring one of them up. I will never go back to Michaels and give them any of my business. They should honor it or go through the bin and separate the ones on sale from the ones not on sale. That is false advertisement.

Michaels has good quality products at reasonable prices and a lot of specials buys or clearance items. This happens especially just after a holiday or the end of a season when many items are drastically reduced.Staff is very helpful. At peak shopping times it can be a challenge to find a staff person who isnt already helping a customer. If you can be a little patient someone will help as soon as is humanly possible.Michaels also has an excellent website.Enjoy your first trip there.

The framing department is fantastic. We have had several things framed at this store and they always look amazing. I have even taken framed items here that were framed somewhere else just to be brought up to the same quality.

I love Michael and there is cashier who works in the daytime shes a young black girl who super nice every time my mom and I go in!! My mom loves creating stuff with the help of things they sell! They shockingly have tons of things for kids so check your Christmas list off using their coupons ans competitors coupons. We shop here all the time.

Great arts & crafts store

I am the bulletin board decorator for my work and came to Michaels looking for inspiration for the boards. What a great store for ideas! I love how the store had all their materials sectionalized according to season. I would definitely recommend Michaels for their quality crafting materials and unique ideas. I made these tissue paper flowers for the Spring birthday board and got so many compliments!

I placed an order online for pick-up. The pick-up was at the framing counter at the very back of the store. I ordered 3 multi-packs of different sized canvases and about 25 lbs of paint. There were no carts at the back, so Valerie graciously helped me to the front. Michaels, please plan better for pick-up AND take good care of Valerie. She went above and beyond to help!

Will not visit this store again. Manager was rude like it was my problem I ordered online and the pickup wasnt ready an hour after I received email confirmation it was. The front staff was very nice and helpful however.

We found everything we wanted

Everything you needed and way more than you wanted. Youll spend more than you planned, but thats a good thing. Its not about prices--theirs are excellent--but about selection. Youll find things here you never knew existed. And once you see them, youll decide you cant live without them.

Rain to order online for pickup is convenience. Rather than having pickup at front of store you have to go to the very back to pick up. Many order online too help avoid mobility barriers and I hope they rethink this.

A brunette short hair manager and older lady at the register really came through. I wasn’t having a gray day and my coupons didn’t come up. I was pretty grumpy and the ladies both made it better. I really appreciate that. Great staff.

Yarn selection was dismal. Stock was not neatly kept, many skeins did not have their dye lot labels and there are insufficient dye lot amounts for even a basic project requiring 4 skeins.

Michaels is a great store to shop if you are a customer, they do however treat their employees very poorly, they dont even turn the air conditioning on until the store opens, causing all of the employees in the morning to sweat profusely, especially the replenishers, the pay scale also is insulting, the average starting pay scale in hickory is now around $11 an hour, Michael starts most people out at 8 dollars an hour, and then they work them to death, very seriously, its also funny that they have a very low level of trust in their employees, so much that they have to check them before they throw away any trash, so they can make sure there is no stealing going on, even though they do an extreme background check which includes driving records and credit rating etc, this company needs to change its ways for sure, or their competition hobby lobby, will put them out of business, hobby lobby pays their employees fairly, and they honor God by being closed on Sunday, thank you very much for your consideration !

The customer service were very professional and greeting as soon as I stepped into the door. They were so very helpful, even when they were busy they still helped with an amazing attitude. I give five stars only because the store in warner robins GA really ruin me from shopping at Michaels but this store here helped me gain more confidence that not all michaels representatives are as bad. Prices on flower arrangements are somewhat reasonable

I went in for two specific things at fifteen minutes till closing. A lady came out on the floor to assist me in finding the second item. I am a handmade online seller so the local craft stores are sometimes very important to me. I got to the register and had a horrible experience with the cashier. Now if I am spending 180.00 anywhere else Im not met with such a rude employee hardly ever! Was a real disappointment that makes me not want to go back.

Great place to get creative.

Coming from a small town without a Michaels, this place is an oasis. In terms of art supplies, theres plenty of pens, markers and pencils you can buy individually so you can test them out before committing to a whole pack. Handy pads of paper to test colors on are provided. Its a small thing, but I appreciate that because its 30 miles away and I like to reduce buyers remorse as much as possible.The yarn section isnt what it used to be unless you like acrylics, but the knitting boom has died down so I get it. Lots of beads and jewelry making tools. Definitely worth the visit if you have the urge to make something.
