A wonderful museum with a unique setup where part of the home is a more traditional museum space and the remainder is a historic house museum. The history of the family is very interesting and the architecture of the home is stunning. We had a young high school student as our guide on Connecticut Open House day and he was wonderful! The garden in the back is very peaceful and worth a moment of quiet. You cant even tell that you are downtown Hartford.
Outdoor seating available a bit loud, food is good enjoy
Beautiful gardens, wonderful history & great staff.
This is a fascinating place to delve into Hartford history through the lens of a family who stayed in their house over many generations while Hartford downtown grew up around them. Four siblings last lived in the house until their deaths, and the story of their lives captured the interest of our whole family.
A really nice museum to learn about the days gone by. Went there with a friend and it was definitely not a disappointment. Leaned a lot and plus its well managed.
This was my first visit to the Butler McCook House. The garden is beautiful. I was surprised at the amount of Chinese artifacts that were there in addition to the New England treasures!
Truly an Oasis in the middle of a City Desert(Concrete Jungle), with a beautiful assortment of flowers, bushes, and trees, it is another world inside the city of busy businessmen, we need to slow down and smell the roses
Tour guides were informative
