Jacob’s Beach is a great place for a family. We went on a weekday and it was not crowded at all. Everyone is social distancing. Very clean area, friendly people, plenty of parking and good facilities for bathrooms/rinsing off. A relatively small beach with calm water. There were 2 lifeguards on duty which was nice. Make sure to bring sandals or water shoes...beach sand is a little rough, however they do have a nice walkway laid over the sand leading to the facilities. Really a wonderful beach. There’s a small grassy area between the parking and the sand where there are a few benches and Adirondack chairs for relaxing. If you’re looking for a calm serene beautiful beach this is it. Absolute opposite from Ocean Beach. I can’t say enough good things about this beach.

First visited in mid-August 2020: Fantastic beach, especially for social distancing. Crowds are small and well spaced, even on weekends. Great family beach if youre looking for one, as the jetty keeps the warm waters calm, especially around low tide times. The beach and facilities are clean and well maintained, the only negative I could say is that I noticed a small wasp nest developing in one of the changing areas. I highly recommend hitting up the LemoNates tent for a birthday lemonade and keeping an eye out for the old school ice cream truck that makes the rounds around midday.

Great spot for families with a playground. Not very crowded. Personally, too much seaweed and rocks for me, but theres not much you can do for that. It is nice and calm for kids to swim in, play, and watch the boats go by. There are pavilions for people to rent, a volleyball court, basketball, and racks for residents to rent and store kayaks or something similar. Also, bathrooms are available and were clean.

I grew up in Guilford. I live in Branford now. Of course, Im a little biased, but I still think Guilford is one of the most beautiful places there is, and Ive lived all over the world. I literally hadnt been to Jacobs Beach since the early 90s. I lived on the West coast for years, and only returned about 3 years ago. Guilford has done an amazing job in upgrading this beach. Its gorgeous. It was a bit more rough around the edges when I was a kid. Guilford Park and Rec have managed to make it really really nice, without destroying the charm and character it always had. The actual beach area is so much nicer now because they groom the beach, so the sand is beautiful, but you can still collect shells with the kids. Theres good bathrooms. Fresh water outside showers for cleaning off the salt and sand. Plenty of grassy areas, nice playground equipment, good parking, they sell fresh juice and lemonade, the Good Humour ice cream truck still makes stops there, and they rent kayaks now. Theres also covered areas to get out of the sun, and a mini boardwalk area. Its really nice.

Super clean and friendly, I couldnt have asked for a better location to see family I havent seen in many years and just talk. it was too cold to go in the water at the time but Ill be back to Summer to go swimming definitely.

Its very close to Rio de Janeiro although somewhat smaller however the waves at Jacobs are comparable to the surf on Oahus north shore. The clarity and color of long island sound water reminds me of the Caribbean in the area of the cayman islands, bring your mask find and snorkel.so stay here in the US. No need to travel

Very nice public beach. I brought my dog with the intention of walking along the beach without getting into the sand where dogs are not permitted. I thought we could find a way to the marina until we encountered private property. So we headed back to the parking area. A couple groups of children wanted to pet the dog (Milo the 77 lb 11 year old apricot labradoodle) who thinks hes still a puppy. He and the children enjoyed the time together. It was a bit hot for Milo so I thought it was best to head back to the air conditioning. Although not a great place for a dog, I found the area to be very clean and appealing. But not very big.

Nice little beach on the coast of Long Island Sound, in CT. This location is the terminus of The New England Trail, a 215 mile long hiking trail that has one end in NH and travels the length of MA and CT to come to the other end here next to Jacobs Beach. How cool is that? Ive hiked parts of this trail but didnt know until now that this was one end.

Granted I have a higher standard for beaches having lived in FL, but of ALL the beaches Ive visited in CT so far, Jacobs Beach was the absolute worst! The water was murky & slimy. My daughters feet got all sliced up - to the extent of bleeding & needing first aid supplies from the lifeguard stand. Will never be back! Especially when there are so many other beach options in CT. Id even go to one of the lake/pond beaches before Id go back to Jacobs!

Jacobs Beach recently got some well deserved and needed renovations. A more organized parking lot, a new boardwalk, new changing rooms, and a shell collector which cleans and grooves to beach (every Friday morning). Camp Menunkatuck is here every summer. Its a beautiful little town beach. There is a place for crabbing(by hand), a place for kayaks, and swimming.
