The staff and bartenders were awesome. The pizza was actually very good. Smoking was allowed on the patio and there were heaters outside. We had a fun time even though most of the games were closed.

Nice place. HUGE gaming area and plenty of space to walk around. Excellent service. Pizza truck outside for ordering food. Huge outside porch with tables and chairs. Lots of video games with Skeet Ball and Air Hockey. Hard to find free parking but there is an adjacent paid parking lot across the tracks, $4 a space (cash only machine, no change).

An absolutely amazing place. Hours of fun to be had and there are games for all ages and skill levels. The staff were wonderful and service was fast. The games are affordable so a little money lasts a long time, especially if you play the classic games. There is great food and plenty of drink options. A perfect place to hang with friends and/or family have a really good time.

Very cool atmosphere and drink menu. I’ve been a few times. Once, they wouldn’t let me in due to my license expiring the week before... I’m visibly over 21 and I was with 6 other 35+ adults at the time. Felt like it was a little ridiculous. It’s mainly college kids weekend nights. Haven’t been back since.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Beautiful deck out front overlooking parts of downtown and over the old train rails. Enough variety and fun inside to keep you entertained for hours. I love the idea and the place. Great job!

They are back open during covid. Right now they still have their $1 Mimosa specials on Sundays and $3 Fireball on Friday. DASSIT NO GAMES. I still love boxcar.

Boxcar is an absolute treasure. If you enjoy playing retro arcade games as much as I do, then youre in for a real treat. They have an amazing collection of pinball machines, arcade classics (equipped with drink holders!), air hockey tables, live music, outdoor patio, free popcorn, drinks and so much more.The space is impressively large, has a full service bar with a wide selection of craft beers and daily specials. Typically, games cost only a single token (quarter) to play, so the value here is unparalleled compared to todays modern arcades.

I really wish they had better arcade games. You may have fun for like 3 minutes then quit mid game and hop to the next one. Rinse and repeat for 10 games then realize you spent 20 bucks on tokens and begrudgingly use them. The pizza there though is actually really good. Im very picky when it comes to pizza. 1 Im from NYC and 2 that nasty processed tomato sauce makes me throw up. I cant eat pizza from most places. Pace yourself... if youre expecting to go in and play games non stop you will be sorely disappointed. The atmosphere is good, decent drinks, good pizza. Try to enjoy the experience as a whole. I still have maybe 16 dollars worth of tokens in a cup... I suggest starting at 10 at most.

Amazing way to ring in my 23rd birthday!!! No cover charge, no lines, got there after 11 and partied/ danced the night away. Daniel was SO responsive, lovely, met us out front and even though I was stressed about it being weird to go without a table, it ended up being a lit dance floor by 11 exactly as he described. Cant believe my luck! All my friends had a blast too. THANK YOU!

What a blast! Its so much fun having the old school competitive gaming with friends! Air-hockey, pinball, and the super exciting Jurassic Park shooter will really consume some time! Also, the staff does alot around there to take care of the facility and the guests. The bartenders are always hustling to get to everyone and with a good attitude. The drinks are always good and they have great daily specials. Would reccomend anytime just to take a load off and have a little fun!

My wife and I went there for the first time we had alot of fun. The games, drinks and pizza was very good. The staff was very outstanding and seem to live what they do. Were definitely coming back.

I would give them more stars this place is great but right now dont waste your time. its june 25th 2020 and they have the place closed and boarded up. Google says theyre open from 4pm to 2 am on week days. **They need to update google and the phone recording.** Called beforehand and it says open 365 days a year and seven days a week-if you dont hear a recording at the beginning regarding closures or inclement weather then theyre open...smh...

Enjoyed myself. Its grown up child at its best. Had fun , place was great ,drinks came fast but not my personal idea of a night out. Give it a four star to be fare at a diffrent point in my life I would have loved this place. Im just a bit more refined at this stage of my life. 21 to 30s crowd recommended for setting. Something different to do. Enjoyed the variety of games. Love free popcorn. Lots of drink choices and some food options. Decor was very throwback to the era of arcades. They have an Atm machine and change machines to get tokens. Games take 1-4 tokens. Possible I may return. Parking options not great but it is downtown Greensboro. Better to go earlier than later.

We loved Boxcar, we came for a double date! Perfect experience for a date night, the bar offers a variety of drinks and the arcade allows you to feel like a kid again! We will definitely be back!

This was the first bar that I ever went to in Glendale and has remained my favorite bar since. The bar staff is fun, energetic, and knowledgable. The atmosphere is lively but the music never reaches the point of earth shattering loud. Id recommend to anyone looking for something new to try out in downtown Glendale!!

Fun concept. Crowd is typically younger adults. Children are present sometimes, but usually are asked to leave around 9pm. Bar service is ample and prompt. Free popcorn is a plus while gaming. Pinball, air hockey, tons of arcade games.

Its not bad however I wish there were more pinball machines. Get there early to enjoy everything without the crowds. Games are reasonably priced per play

What more could you ask for? Theres even a very well-lit, nice, and safe parking area adjacent to the building!

Boxcar Bar and Arcade is a really nice place to enjoy some fun games, excellent beer selections and great pizza. The atmosphere is laid back, casual and fun. They have some great pinball machines, air hockey and some cool retro video games. You wont go wrong visiting here when in Greensboro!!!

Amount of arcade games in insane. Must be 21+ with ID to enter and you have to buy tokens to play. $20 goes fast... but it was still really fun. Some games are very old, worn off case graphics and buttons. Some are brand new. A few dont work like they should, most do though. The pinball machines were my favorite. Most are made so hard that its easy to fail (thus use more tokens...) but thats how all arcades go.

Super cool barcade with a huge variety of games!! More than Ive ever seen at a barcade. Theyve got everything from pinball machines, DDR, guitar hero, Nintendo games (those are free!), even air hockey and skeeball (they have free tournaments every week for these).Awesome space with lots of murals on the walls. Its doggie friendly too! They have a ton of taps including lots of local beer and ciders. Spirits from the distillery across the street. You can get woodfired pizza from the pizza truck parked outside, normal prices range from $9-11. They even have vegan cheese!There are some great nightly deals, especially Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday you can get 2 drafts, a pizza, and 20 tokens for $20. All the daily deals, events, and games are listed on their website. Love this spot!!!

Fun! Lots of classic arcade games, many for only a quarter. Good draft beer selection! We visited on a Satruday afternoon and it was very kid friendly.

The staff at this establishment are not only rude, but completely worthless.The games are beyond worn out and probably see very little maintenance. Majority of the pinball machines have functionality issues from dead flippers to flat bumpers.Also, let’s not deny the fact there’s complete copy right infringement with their art and decor. Pretty sure Nintendo didn’t license it to them.

Its a busy place on most days. Great crowd and fun arcade games. The drinks are great and good. Its always fun when we are here. Its pet friendly as well.

Definitely a different “gaming” experience for my 8 year old iPad baby. I won’t bring him back though since I didn’t realize that it was as much “bar” as it was arcade.But, I’m sure this is a great spot for the young adult crowd just looking to hangout & chill. A good addition to the Downtown Greensboro activities.

I take my out of town friends and family here all the time. Its always a great atmosphere and plenty of drink options to choose from. I love the mix of old and newer games. Although they only sell pizza there its REAL good especially after youve had a few.

Cool retro arcade with alcohol. I would have given 5 stars, but Im just disappointed it cost $1 (4 tokens) to play pinball! The staff was super nice & friendly. Nice beer selection. Prices $$ but not insane and they do have good drink specials. They also host lots of interesting events. Evening crowd definitely for adults, which is added bonus! Sorry kiddos, lol! Definitely recommend, and will be back!

There is a game for everyone. Very spacious with a large bar. The outdoor porch/patio has decent seating when the weather is nice.

Is an alright spot.. just feel like the vibe it hard to describe. They have a full bar and beer menu but not the best place to go unless you had a group with you!!

Better to go during the week than the weekends if you want to really enjoy the experience. Its just too busy on a weekend night for my liking.

Great place that could be a lot of fun. The staff were great, the beer selection was wonderful. The $1 charge for 4 tokens to play the retro games was a bit much. I have been in a similar place in Nashville Tennessee and the games were free. So maybe 8 tokens for a $1 would be fair.

Boxcar as per usual is amazing, pretty helpful and super friendly staff. Dogs are allowed which is great, and the game selection is always great. One of my favorite places to go in greensboro.

Yoga on Sundays is really fun. And you can get a bottle of champagne and OJ for $10 to celebrate completing a class.

LOVED LOVED LOVED this arcade before they put the age limit on it. So many arcade games here that are nowhere else in Greensboro, hence one of the reasons it’s so dope. Now you can’t even go in with someone who is of age. I’m 18 and loved going In this arcade with family and then all of a sudden they decided to change it to you can’t even go unless your 21 at all times of the day. Hate to break it to you guys but some people genuinely just want to play video games. Please please please change this!!!

Best barcade Ive ever been too

My wife and I visited to celebrate my birthday. We were worried it would be cheesy, but we were amazed by how much fun we had!The drinks were great, they make a MEAN mimosa. And really reasonably priced too!Then pizza oven outside made a quick and easy snack, we had a margarita pizza (as seen in the picture), and it was really good!Lastly, the games. We had a ton of our favorite games to choose from, even guitar hero and dig dug. The Jurassic Park game got jammed, but an awesome employee explained why it happened, fixed it, and gave us our coins back to try again.Well absolutely be coming back soon, and we highly recommend everyone else tries it too!

Our first time here was to take our son here for his birthday. We had a blast! We love that you can get free bags of popcorn! Will be visiting here again soon!!

We had a great date afternoon! The atmosphere is fun and relaxed, the beer is reasonably priced, and the games are both current and old school. A great time for both couples and families, and dog friendly if you want to bring your 4 legged family members! (The only caveat is they used to give you 4 tokens for game play when you purchased a beer and they stopped this about 2 weeks ago apparently ️).

This place was great! Chill spot with awesome olds school arcade games. And puppy friendly!! I spent more time petting puppies than playing games!

We had a good time. Rented a private room for a party. Had its own bartender. Very spacious room and they let us bring food and have our own DJ. The drinks are a bit pricey, though they have some options that are reasonable. Decent selection of games to play. The kids really liked the pizza, hand tossed and fire baked in a food truck outside.

What is cooler than an Arcade Bar? Probably the art that they created on every wall in the establishment. This place is so cool with specials happening everyday. On top of that they have weekly competitions and special events monthly. It is a very interactive environment that everyone will love. Oh yeah, FREE POPCORN!

This place is awesome. Tons of old arcade games. Got bar. Its just a great place if youre looking for an arcade in Greensboro. The round one I think its called, the other arcade in town , is good, but its sort of a spectacle. This one has the old school games u want. The location is great. My daughter enjoyed the games , but then iceing on the cake was the cat cafe around the corner. Really cant praise this place enough. Will definitely be back.

Im close friends with all of the staff, and this place is amazing! Great beer specials that let me try a huge variety of local favorites, as well as craft brews from across the country. Their house cocktails are pretty dang good too. If you love old school arcades and good craft beer, this is pretty much the only stop you need to make

Loved this place. Used to go there every weekend. But. They got rid of our favorite pinball game, Addams family. Ok. No more tokens for free before 7 pm. Prices were raised everywhere on all the games. It’s different down there then it was in 2018. Popcorn machine wasn’t going today, etc. It was 1 of my fave bar/hangout places.

We attended a company Christmas party here and had a great time. They provided a private room for that. The staff was super friendly and the assortment of games in the arcade is impressive. There are several full service bars and a huge front porch with tons of seating. There was a food truck attached to the porch but we didnt order since our event was catered. Great night and will definitely be going back again!

Lots of old-school cabinet games from the 80s and early 90s (pac-man, centipede, digdug, mortal combat, etc.) and some newer models as well (Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution, etc.). They also had a good selection of pinball games. Staff is friendly and helpful. Drinks were delicious and reasonably priced.

This place is like Celebration Station for adults (minus the go carts) but with better arcade games. Bar is nice too. Looking forward to checking out an open mic night they have Wednesday nights.

This place was unbelievable! Classic style coin-operated arcades (25 cents per coin, differing values for games), free N64, SNES and NES, as well as Sega! There was so much to choose from! Friendly staff and inexpensive drinks with a friendly and fun atmosphere. I will *definitely* come back again.

Between the awesome arcade games and the drink specials, this is a hard place to stay away from! Its so much fun. I could see myself going there by myself early in the day. The one small issue I had was people bringing their pets on the patio. Dont bring your pets to a bar, keep them at home.

Great place. Can be super busy and loud. But if you dont mind that, easily one of the best places to hang out with friends in the area.

Its great! ....if you can get in. Or actually afford multiple drinks. The selection is pretty limited and all the drinks are pretty overpriced. This is a pretty nice spot if it isnt busy. If its busy? Well first and foremost theres a good chance you might not even get in, even after wasting a 30 minute drive out on your birthday. And if you did get in? Well good luck getting served. The bartenders know who their regulars are and pay poor attention to proper queues. All around their bartenders arent rude, but theyre pretty poor at serving and paying attention to queues. Like I said, they know who their regulars are, clearly, and dont care about anyone else.. Ive been here several times and Ive never been as disappointed as last night. If you want to come here, dont come on a Friday or Saturday night. Come some time theyre slow. You might get to enjoy the scenery on a busy night, but thats all youll get to enjoy.

Really fun place! Arcade games as far as the eye can see! Outdoor seating is spacious. Bar staff are very helpful and many choices of poison. They even have delicious non-alcoholic options for us sober folk. Do recommend!

Service was good. The only thing I didnt like was at a certain time they remove the chairs from the bar. Did not care too much about that when I was having a great time sitting at the bar. It is a great place to hang out that was the only flaw that I had with this place. Had a lot to choose from but they need to get Yuengling in on draft. I think this was the only thing that I did not find while I was there. Everything else must come out and try for yourself. They also have great food there their pizza was wonderful. And the kids loved it as well playing the games that they offer. We will definitely be back even though there is no chair after a certain hour to set in.

This place is absolutely amazing as well as Carey the bartender. I will definitely be going back time and time again for games with my boys and a great time in general.

This place has the best arcade games, pizza and free popcorn in town, I play skee-ball few times a day and I had a good time and I might come again soon.

This place has a great atmosphere. They have everything from old school game cabinets to new shooters. Look out for their free skee-ball tournaments on Thursday and their 1 dollar mimosas Sundays. Good outdoor seating and you will usually see a few families with dogs here. They also have a Nintendo 64 and Super Nintendo with a wide selection of games. Definitely check this place out if you are in town.

PERFECT SERVICE AND DELICIOUS FOOD. We took my niece and her boyfriend here for her birthday and everything was perfect. The cocktails were amazing and some were 5.00 and not weak which was even more amazing! When i called to make our reservation, I spoke to the most polite and service oriented young man. ILL BE BACK!
