It is a beautifully designed garden that is perfect for families with small children. It has a vegetable garden for kids surrounded by vegetable benches for kids. This has been designed with kids in mind. It also has a little amphitheater for kids. It is a place that can enhance the creative spirit within all of us. The park will be extended even further in the future, and I look forward to it.The visitor center is a fantastic LEED certified building. It is encouraging to see buildings designed with the environment in mind. However, when my kids tried to run around in the beautiful grassy area near the fountain we found geese droppings spread consistently over the entire area. It seemed to me that it was used as organic fertilizer. There was also a strong smell as you neared the fountain. Probably had something to do with LEED. That was the only downside to our experience today. But the rest of the park was great so, it didnt bother us too much. No pets are allowed in the kids areas.Im grateful to the Greensboro Beautiful organization and the City of Greensboro for giving us this wonderful space.

Cute little park. But very small. Looks like they are going to expand. Im sure it will be nice when its completely done.

Our enjoyment of this garden was sadly marred by a maintenance worker who followed our exact route right around the garden blasting his leaf blower which seemed comparable in volume to a Boeing 747 taking off. We appreciate that gardens require maintenance but really. Just as well it was free to get in. We drove for an hour to get there too. Otherwise, it was rather cute although smaller than expected.

Very nice park with lots to do. We enjoyed the maze garden and abundance of flowers throught the park. They are also expanding, which will allow the park to grow over time.

The park is always lovely. The staff, rude and inconsiderate. Me and a friend met up yesterday with our dogs to have a play date. We arrived shortly after 4:15PM. On the website, it states that the park is open till 8:00PM so we were in no rush. Not 30 minutes after we arrived, an older gentleman walked by, did not say “hello” or state who he was; our dogs attempted to greet him but he did not even acknowledge their greeting. He then stated that, “The gates close at 5:00. We close at 5:00” and walked away. My friend and I checked the time and realized that we only had a limited amount of time until we were being forced to leave. We both frantically were looking up on our phones a different park that we could go to since we had just arrived here. At this point it was 5:00PM and the same gentlemen started yelling at us “WE ARE CLOSED!” From across the field. We of course responded, and told him we were trying to leave. He then persisted to yell at us 3 MORE TIMES as were scrambling to gather our things, and our dogs to leave the park. He then insisted on staring us down until we finally left the park. Needless to say, we were taken aback by how rude this gentleman was to us, especially after checking that the park does not close till 8:00PM. We are infuriated. We will not be returning any time soon, if ever after this in counter. I would suggest to change your hours online as well as recommend a hospitality class for your staff.

As has been said, the Gateway Gardens is a lovely park. The one negative mentioned was the side of town it is on. There is nothing wrong with where it is placed and it makes a lovely entry into or exit our of Greensboro. It across from the brand new Hayes-Taylor YMCA and a block from Barber Park were so many outdoor concerts, and other activities, are held.

I love this place, have walked the trails numerous times. I would give it 5stars, but the visitor center is always under construction. The last few visits (June-September) there hasnt been any access to the building. Before there was a couple of vending machines and some bathrooms, but now theres no machines and if you need to use the bathroom, youll have to go to the porta potty..
