I cannot abide the decision of the owner, Peter Meijer, to cancel a drag performance because the performers have Down syndrome.He wrote: The involvement of individuals whose ability to act of their own volition is unclear raises serious ethical concerns that I cannot reconcile [...] I cannot know, and neither can the audience, whether the individuals performing for Drag Syndrome are giving, or are in a position to give, their full and informed consent.Meijer is trying to disguise his ableism with good intentions. The members of DisArts Drag Syndrome are adults and are able to give their consent to perform for self-expression, pleasure, monetary gain, etc. as much as Meijer is. To say otherwise is to deny them their humanity.As he has refused to change his mind after multiple appeals, I hope that others will join me in publicly denouncing his decision and in refusing to patronize his business.

Junky-stylish old building. Artists have been here for 27 years. Probably not for much longer: theres a new owner. Fun to wander through. They still make flypaper and wooden coat hangers here too.

The artists here are amazing. I love that so much talent is housed under one roof in an intriguing building.

Venues operated by a discrimatory and ignorant owner, I dont recommend it for anyone interested in truly inclusive environments
