I scheduled a party for my twin boys that will be turning 18 on 11/28. Though I was a bit taken back by the fact that I would be charged gratuity for $124.82 which brought my total reservation for a 2 hour skate party to $818.24, I decided to move forward. Unfortunately, due to the current mandate that the state of Michigan is under, we are not allowed to have our party. I called to ask how we go about getting our deposit back and was met with the most rude and obnoxious women that I have ever dealt with. She immediately tried to convince me to potentially expose my guest to Covid 19 by saying Oh, we are still hosting private parties, just not public. I let her know that the current order states that we are not allowed to host a gathering of 10 or more individuals. I was told that they have a committee and would be meeting last week and that someone would be calling me on that Friday (11/20). Of course, no one called. I called today and was dealt with by the same lady. I was told that I should have received an email and that there would be no refund under any circumstances. In my disappointment, I told her that the decision was completely unfair and that they are literally stealing peoples money. I informed her that I would be reaching out to any and every news outlet in order to expose this facility. TERRIBLE PLACE!!!!!!!!11/29/20--So your response is even worse! You hung up on me and refused to answer the phone as I called back 20 timess in a row. That sounds like a far cry from offering to reschedule. The only people that you guys are hurting are the innocent people such as myself trying to support local businesses! I did not cancel my reservation, the order which closed your facility cancelled! Again shame on you for stealing money from people under the blanket of Covid 19. Id slow down on the pat on back that youre giving yourself. Theres a reason you only have a 3.8 rating on Google.

Well i use to go there as a kid everyday of the wk. And wknd. When john and patsy owned it. Now the new owner hasnt done anything to the skating rink. It should be redone when COVID hit. Because by the d.j. booth theres hills and along the wall by the d.j. booth theres a big chunck of floor missing. And if you hit it just right your going to hurt yourself. And the bathrooms needed upgraded a long time ago. They over flood all the time and the stall doors dont lock. And the doors are to low that people can still see you going to the bathroom. And the water fountin leaks water unto the floor and then into the bathrooms. The rink does not carry half sizes in skates. There to over priced for birthday parties and special events and basically you get nothing. After the owner reads this Im going to be kicked out of this skating rink like i was byron center skating rink bc. The owner owns both of them. And thats the way they do it if they know you and you write poorly about the skating rink. That is the truth. Just go there and youll see what i mean.

DO NOT HAVE YOUR KIDS BIRTHDAY PART HERE! We paid for the Neon Glow room for 2 hours. The room was cute and I enjoyed the small party favors likes bracelets and glow sticks for the kids. However, I was completely embarrassed to have our party there. First of all, you get a full pat down and they use a metal detector. I found that extremely overkill for a Sunday afternoon but whatever, I get they are trying to be safe. Then all of my guests had to stand in line with the general admission individuals, so my guests didnt even get in the door until 2:30, even though my party started at 2. Then we paid a gratuity so a party host at the rink that I saw maybe 3 times the entire 2 hours we were there. We had to walk up to the counter to get drink refills, to ask someone to put our ice cream in the freezer, and then to get a knife and spatula for our cake. We did more than our host did! Then there was no soap in the bathroom! Kids under 18 had to have skates on at all times. I had a few small children who didnt know how to skate that well so they kept falling and I was scared one would be seriously injured. Oh AND, one adult gets to re-enter for free. Otherwise, they would have to pay a fee if they needed to run outside for a moment. We will NEVER come back here.

Favorite skating rink! Great atmosphere and great music. Staff keeps it fun with adding games to engage everyone! Definitely recommend this place!

Great skating rink! AWESOME STAFF!!! However, the menu online states that there is vegan food on the menu, but when we got there, the cafe states that they no longer have it. The main reason we chose to have our party here is that there were vegan options at the cafe for all the vegan guests we had invited. It would be an awesome support to all the customers to continue to offer these options. Please add them back to the cafe menu.

I’m super bummed that they removed the vegan options at the cafe. It was sooooo good and they had such a great selection to choose from, but now they don’t offer it anymore. I loved that they used to have gluten free options and dairy free options for my friends too. I understand if they have to modify the vegan menu to fit their business needs better, maybe not have as many options as before, but they just removed it altogether. This was my favorite place to go to when I wanted an actual variety of foods I could have. If they add vegan options back I will be happy to change my review.

Always have a great time here! Thursday is the best deal, $5 for rental, soda, cookie, and choice of hot dog or pizza.

Fist time there with my family. It wasnt very busy and it was nice. The music was a little loud for my young kids tho.

Lots of fun. My only problem is the rental of the triangles to help a child learn to skate. I believe these should be included in rental of skates and admission.

What a great Sunday we had! I love how involved the DJ was with the kids, I also loved that he played a few games with them! Even when there wasnt a game being played he was still friendly with the kids and playing with them! My son also enjoyed watching him skate! The staff was super friendly!The only things I did like was... #1) that the floor was super dirty, my red wheels where gray when I left! #2) music was a bit loud at times (I feel thats because the DJ is in a closed in area and cant quite judge the levels at times) #3) I didnt care for the staff being in street clothes, if you will, it was hard to determine who was a staff member and who was a guest! Other than those 3 things I LOVED MY VISIT! I wouldnt mind taking the trip from the flint area again!!

Kentwood Fun Spot tries their best! I love it that there is a place like this to skate with kids. They often have Groupons and such, which makes it more affordable. We had a birthday party there today and had a blast. Skated, played video games, had pizza and such. Its not super clean, but very fun and loud.

My family loves this roller rink! The pizza was yummy. A bit pricey for a 3h activity.

I had mi daughter’s birthday party on 2/21/20 the minute we arrived there was a disaster. Employees are so unorganized. When we went to reserve it they said you are better of booking it online so we did . We did not get what we where supposed to get like goodie bags, a party coach that weren’t told that there would be a $31 fee when we booked it online only saw her when we arrived and when she brought the pizza out , I’m very upset that someone ( coach maybe) came to the table when we weren’t there and through the left over pizzas out with out even bothering to ask us if we were done eating. We were never told that every body under the age of 18 had to wear skates. When we did the reservation it said that the room had 3 tables when I got there it was two tables together and a very small table big enough to fit a cake and maybe a couple gifts. I will never make any party here ever again and I’m sure that my guest won’t either since they weren’t impressed with the service we got. Please keep in mind if you decide to make a party there to not invite kids with sprain ankle because they will make them wear skates or they get kicked out. That was my experience hope other people have a better one with this place.

I was thinking the price seemed to be more than I liked but my kids had a lot of fun. The parking lot has lots of potholes. Gigantic ones. But my daughter is having her birthday party here and its the best skating floor Ive skated on. The floor itself.

Could use a facelift but it has a nice home grown skate rink feel. A decent spot for birthdays too.

Grandkids were there. They enjoy going there. The prices are good. The food is good. Enjoy the pizza.

Boys went straight to skating. the pizza was good! Loved the photo booth! Boys enjoyed the games! Kentwood Fun Spot is an amazingly joyful place to take yourself, family and friends, the employees are very nice and helpful. The workers at the counter are very nice and funny and will give you candy.

Im one of the parents at a birthday two kids trying to get gifts to car and will not let you back in without reentry fee will not be coming back here again. Would not recommend if your doing a birthday.

Out of the two Fun Spot locations, this one is the best of the two. The floor is flat (no bows or dips), the building is in better shape with efficient A/C, the light effects are fun, and the sound system is great. I will make the extra miles to attend this facility again.

Use to be fun music: Hokie pokie, birthday song, nysyc, backstreet boys etcProbably an ideal spot for open general public skate, but not a ideal place for birthday parties for young children. Music: beware of gangsta rap only as a former dj you need to adapt to the guests In Attendance and gangsta rap is not child friendly. The food seem good no gut issues haha. The arcades dont work. Management seems young but every business has a learning curve they need to get use too to accomandate different guests especially ones with special needs. The older lady at front desk seems unfriendly to other guests i witnessed I know I wont be returning to Kentwood or Byron center fun spots since there both a joint business. I will try Terry hall for now on or go to a night club if i want to listen to hard core gangsta music. The girl at snack bar was nice and security guard was nice. If anyone has questions feel free to ask, I am available to give my opinion on this rink.

I love this place. Its small, cozy, cheap and the staff is wonderful.

Groupon keeps this kids activity nice and cheap. Needs a good deep clean and exterminator. Biggest improvement would be bathroom remodeling. Very hard to use with skates on and they take your shoes.

We enjoyed the Byron Center Fun Spot, but wanted to find something closer to home. Our experience here was terrible. The music was insanely, painfully loud. The skates were dangerous - halfway unlaced when we got them, wheels covered in gunk that made me keep tripping. They wouldnt let us have water on the benches near the rink. There were actual children working there. The floor was in better condition than the BC location, but we will definitely choose Byron Center next time we bring our son skating.

This place used to be a great place for youth and family entertainment. It has deteriorated severely even in the last few years. Even worse with whomever the new management is. We used to have our birthday parties there, our childrens birthday parties there was going to have my grandson and granddaughters birthday party there. We used to attend weekend open skate. Mind you I have attended since John and Patsy owned it when I was a kid. The new management is downright aweful. No people skills. Presuming everyone young is there to cause trouble. This place has been a family entertainment staple in the community for as long as I can remember. The new staff should probably take a few lessons in customer service and appreciation. I would go as far as to say lessons in racial equality could help.

Drive my school bus full of elementary children got a fun couple of hours at the rink. What a great way to have some fun and exercise.

Very nice staff. New to the area and google has the wrong hours. They were closing in a half an hour for a private party. They were nice enough that I didnt have to pay.

This place is total chaos. People walking on the rink, skating the wrong way. Not to mention twice the price as other rinks in the area.

Awesome service for Friday night glow night. Friendly staff all around from the front lady at the desk to the service and teamwork at the concession stand to the upbeat and helpful staff at the skates area.We will be back and want to make it a regular occasional exercise.Thank you for the quality service, fair prices and clean and improved rink atmosphere.The only downside is they dont take song requests anymore. I mean that was half the fun right?

This rink is decent but management is unorganized & inconsiderate at times.

Very accommodating staff. It was nice to watch the kids and familys all skating and enjoying themselves. I only have it a 4 star because the rental skates are not very well maintained and the sound system could definitely use some major upgrading. Overall was a great workout for everyone.

Alberto was very nice and kind. He gave me lots of candy when my school came to the fun spot. He managed the candy and all the kids very well. It was very fun and was cool to see him jump over all the stuff in the skating rink.

Came here for a school function of my Sons. Rentals all in good shape. Staff super friendly! Great prices! My son had never skated before and they had these Walker like things for kids learning to hold onto to help them. Additional cost to rent but so worth it! Normal roller rink food but got a hot dog and a grape slush all good! Kids had fun with the music! We will be back!

04/06/19 Very unprofessional today we didnt even stay longer than an hour. Staff rude charged us for rental skates & we bought our own then when we asked for our money back because she over charged us she had an attitude. We brought a backpack with our skates in it they took the back pack from us for security reasons which is understandable. She then said I’ll have to go outside to get the backpack back which my children shoes were in it. Been coming here 23 years & I will never return. They have a bunch of young staff working here that don’t know what they are doing.

They didn’t have my kids size skates. It’s a skating rink and we came when they opened. They gave them sizes 1.5 too big and small, and handed one of my kids a pair of in-line skates where the front wheel was nearly falling off it was so loose.The lunch we were promised? They are OUT of hot dogs. They’ve been open for 60 minutes today. How are you out? They’ll cook us a pizza, but it will take 20 minutes. Meanwhile, the 12 kids are waiting at the table for their lunch. What can be done? Absolutely nothing. Could we buy some nachos for them while they wait? Oh, sure! However, the nacho cheese sauce isn’t hot enough yet. Huh. So there’s nothing to appease the 12 hungry children? They can skate. But not eat any of the food we paid for. We will not return. I would never recommend coming here. We were given the owners phone number, but no one offered to get them on the phone or to fix this in any way.

Ive been coming to the fun spot every yr for the last 7 yrs and have never been so disappointed arrived at 4:45 had to pay the whole bill upon arrival even tho I told them I would probably be adding a few things on but that wasnt a big problem paid as they requested finally got seated about 5:05pm about 6:00 never have got even introduced to our host so tracked down a worker to see if maybe we can get our pizza and pop started at that time they notified me that the dough was frozen and it would be alittle while longer so I kept my cool and said ok about 6:30 she brought out my pizza kids ate about 6:50 we had to find her again to ask if we could get out icecream finally as Im serving the kids the cake and icecream the Security comes to the table and tell us we have to go the host came by throwing the rest of our pizza away never asking me did I want it or anything so basically the kids had to stuff the cake or either throw it away at that time because it was 7 they made the kids take off their skates while I was trying to pack up the table I just never been so disappointed at the staff u have now just too many parties at once the staff was so overwhelmed that they couldnt help the one table they where the host of I was told when I booked the party that at 7 we could still stay just had to move from the party table different story once 7pm came around staff was so rude when trying to explain that we just got our pizza at this time just having cake and nobody cared told me to call the office on Monday and take it up with the manager Scott and I probably wouldnt get very far because the person that took my order was his sister and they would say they never told me these things so thats why I give this 1 stars my baby was crying at the end of her party straight disappointment

Kentwood Fun Spot is a lot of fun! I enjoyed the music and my time skating. The owner and staff are very friendly and kind. Bonus they offer VEGAN options for their omnivore guest. I plan to go again and again.

Fun place to go, and so cheap! Not very busy either. Love the wood rink. Unfortunately, they occasionally play explicit music containing profanity. Owner responded and said music is radio edit. Good to know. Will upgrade to 5 stars.

Kentwood Fun Spot has done some much needed updates! Place looks great and Im no longer afraid to go in the bathroom!! The concessions takes quite a bit of time, even on the slower days. The music is usually kid friendly but not so much that the older kids cant still enjoy the skate.

I ordered a 2 for 13 dollar package it immediately came out of my account no confirmation number or anything. So I get there and there is a fat white lady about 60 at the desk I explain to her what’s going on. Well without that code I can’t do anything. I show her the charge it’s still pending so it didn’t go through is what she says. She was rude and no help at all finally someone helped her and pulled it up with my email address. So the older lady prints out 2 receipts with codes on them no explanation on what to do with them so I asked and she sarcastically answered me. I then come back and ask what it would be to add someone else on. She says 10 dollars and tells me they have to be gone by 7. I let her know then she is the reason I will never bring my kids here again. There’s more but I’m just too disgusted with this place to give it more attention she should not be in a position to greet customers at all!!!!! Side note I am nit an ex employee I came here happy to celebrate my daughters birthday if it didn’t mean so much to her I would have demanded a refund. Word of advise nobody wants to spend money and be told there’s nothing I can do when a problem comes up she made me feel like without that code she could not assist me and would have been fine if I accepted that and left. After reading the owners responses on here WOW I guess that’s why she was that way I’m sure nothing will be done. Keeps getting better we got 1 slice of pizza and a drink it was supposed to come with 2 each and a drink each they took the ticket from my daughter so no proof. I won’t be back

This place is alright. Its nice to take kids to get them out of the house and active, especially when the weather is bad. Its close to our home and some of my daughters friends go here, that is why we go.However, most the staff are young and could careless about their customer service. The guys are more worried about flirting with the girls, and the girls spend their time eating up the attention.There have been a few times we have been here and the music has not been appropriate at all for the fact there were children here and parents have had to ask the staff to change the music.Also, they charge $5 for the helper rails for kids. If its a birthday party they charge $10 and will give you $5 back when you return it.

I would give The fun spot a 3 and 1/2,out of 5 I would recommend this roller skating rink to people that know how to skate because 1.It has no walk or anything to hold on to and 2. It’s really big compared to other roller skating ranks .I would also recommend bring your own skates because the ones I got were really beat up but can’t be really complaing for the price ($5) per person and the music was okay I didn’t hear any cussing but I think bringing in your own skates are better but I think there roller blades looked good.I don’t know if it was just me but most of the people could really skate so I think for a beginner this is not the place for you .(Just being honest .This is just how I feel so other beginners might enjoy this but I really didn’t.)

I havent skated in years and my daughter wanted to give it a try. We were looking for a place we could go to that had open skating most of the week and we found The Fun Spot. Tarry Hall only has limited open skate. Needless to say, we had a great time! Its nice that they offer earlier times on certain days for the little ones and beginner skaters, and later times for the more advanced skaters. We have been to this place 3 times this week, and plan on making this a new addition to our family schedule! The staff is great, helpful, and very friendly, and they have a great food court with tons of great things on the menu! Definitely try the pizza, that is totally worth the visit alone! Thank you for providing a place where I can take my family for lots of fun at a great price!

I had a fun time there for adult skate night, but I wish they wouldnt play only rap music.

Lori was working at the front desk today, and every time she works the entrance, she always gives me trouble and is very rude and disrespectful towards me. I am a paying customer and I am respectful to the staff, yet she is still snotty to me. I honestly do not appreciate her attitude. All of the other staff are nice and friendly.

A little pricey on a Saturday.The staff was excellent and very friendly and helpful.The bathrooms smelled like weed very badly. They had to come up over the intercom 4-5 times telling kids to stop fighting and just skate.I had a younger boy try taking my daughters skate buddy thing you can rent. Saying it was his number. I told him no I have the ticket for it and he kept making comments about white people just a disrespectful little snob. I think he wanted to get the deposit back.All of the skates were nice and the beverages were fairly priced. The music was current.Next time Ill try the Byron center one due to the crowd that was there.My family did have a good time though.

Nostalgic and still fun for the whole family

Lovely place. Good music and large skating rink. Very good food and everyone was super nice. The only thing I would suggest changing would be to invest in better roller skates, walkers for older skaters, and an air freshener because it had smelled like feet when my friends and I had walked in. Otherwise, very good place :)

The dude that was doing all then trips and stuff was real respectful and nice me and my friends enjoy our self with all the entertainment he gave us.

Staff did nothing to stop or get rid of problem people. Place was unsafe with kids skating in both directions, teens throwing skates at one another, floor was slippery. Staff chatted with friends instead of making this a safe place for all. People were skating while using their phones.

Nothing went the way it was supposed to, and management wouldnt do anything to compensate their own errors. Machines took money without letting us play the game, the food was not available when it was supposed to be, and no one working was helpful with anything. They charge money for the helper rails for young kids to help them skate without falling.

Its best place the only problem Friday is bad day to go if your adult unless u have kids but Thursday might be better I have not been there yet on Thursday prices little bit higher than Friday but not too much so and $6 I would prefer if they did for adult one for $5 instead of $6 change around but its all good

I came here yesterday (02/22/18) to see it after my friend told me about it being really nice, and was in awe at how beautiful and clean this roller rink is. I have been to many a roller rinks in my days, and have never seen one like this. The size is larger than any Ive ever been to. After skating for a couple of hours, we got hungry and decided to just order food from the food area. We got a pepperoni pizza, and couldnt believe it was roller rink pizza. It was better than most pizza you can buy from an actual pizza parlor. I spoke with Carrie (sorry if spelling is incorrect), and let her know how impressed I was with their roller rink. Their staff was very friendly, and I will be coming back here on a regular basis! And just like their slogan, I had loads of FUN!

We had a wonderful time, when skaters maintain moving in the same direction its much more safer to maneuver.Skating surface was clean, friendly staff.

Came here for an event hosted by my sons school when my son went to get his skates they were out of inlines the guy behind the counter crumpled up my receipt and threw it away before I could ask for it back as I paid off of a card that I have to keep ALL of the receipts then when I asked for my receipt that he so rudely crumpled up he didnt even give me the right receipt needless to say we wont be back anytime soon with staff like that. The owner Scott did give me a refund on the difference on the skates and apologized for the employee which is why I still give it 3 stars

Kids love coming here for the skating, music, concessions, and arcade games. It is a nice place for families spend time together for healthy fun.

This place is fun if you just want to roll. Not the cleanest spot or the biggest but still fun. Wouldnt recommend the food. But its kind of expected at a roller rink :)

I am happy to say the last few months Im impressed with the changes. The floor and the general up keep have been much improved. Music much better.Except for some of the one timers think favorite radio station should be playing the 1 time they come.

They where very kind and open to new people they really involved everyone and they made sure that we where having fun!!

The Kentwood fun spot was so amazing for my best friends sons double birthday. The pizza was good and staff was great.

I thought the staff was really nice. The place seemed run down and more neon lights should be put in, so things glow better for glow skating. The music was to loud for me, and they should change the songs ever once in a while because all they do is play rap music. Also this place gets pretty crowded so people start tripping each other by accident.

Normally my friends and I have a good time here but they advertised skating for everyone from 4-6 pm on 4/5/18 only to refuse to honor the deal when we walked through the door. We were forced to pay $40 to not have to drive all the way home and disappoint the kids. Very very disappointing business practice.

Overall it was very fun, lots of food, and music. The bathrooms (where I went) was not all that great. But, it is worth your money. The only thing I suggest is that you go to the bathroom ahead of time. But, overall it was fun.

I grew up in this rink as a little girl, I have been skating my entire life, my dad even owned a skating rink. Today I took my 14 and 11 year old boys skating on a Wednesday afternoon. All the music sounded exactly the same! Rap music or slow music that was all inappropriate for the day/time and for age of children that were there. The girl “DJ” was doing her job, just hanging out and skating with her boyfriend, the music said the N word multiple times! If they want people to come. That can’t happen! It’s sad, because I want skating to stay alive!

I had a really bad experience with this place. They stole 2 dollars from me with their vending machine. I had tried to get a pop, but sadly, nothing came out. When I told the people who worked here about it, they had refused to give me a refund, besides the point of me having already brought in something to drink. But the next thing I knew, they took that too.Ill never be going there again. Especially when Im scared of skating anyway.

Its a nice cute little spot to take the kiddos, although they can use some cushioned seats lol..

Kids had a blast, employees are very professional and helpful. Not to mention it was an inexpensive but fun activity for the kiddos. We all had blast and we will be back!

Sweet staff, a bit pricey but well worth it. I think the toddlers who come out should have the option of getting an assistive device to help them stand rather than charging 20 bucks for the use of one. Other than this frustrating piece it was great.

Very loud. Very. Very. Loud. Music played is the current fad, so plus on that, if you like new rap. Kinda odd how they hold your shoes as collateral for the skates, but it makes sense. Place is overall very clean, with friendly staff.

Berto really was helpful and he actually cared about who he was helping. Very fun place on Thursday night.

I would happily give 5 stars if the carpet and skate surface had been clean. The floor is a very nice and was a pleasure to skate on......until my wheels became thoroughly coated with black gunk. I thought at first that perhaps gone too long between cleanings so I sat down and cleaned my wheels. 15 minutes later they were in the same state so I cleaned them again. Another 15-20 minutes....the same. Very disappointing.Im pretty sure that the issue is your carpeting. If a thorough cleaning of the carpet was done and the carpet was allowed to dry, I believe that would solve your problem.We drove over an hour to skate your rink. If we read or hear through the skate community that the carpet has been cleaned well give you another try. Otherwise the building seemed well mantained and the staff was friendly.Our visit was in October 2016.

I purchased groupons for my daughters to spend a fun afternoon with their cousins. We got there right at opening. There were only 2 kiddos in front of us to get skates and the gentleman behind the counter was already acting annoyed with us for asking questions and needing skates. They were already out of certain sizes, and some skates were unsafe for use.When it came time to get the food that came with the groupon, there was little to nothing available to purchase. There were zero hot dogs available made already and the young lady behind the counter said they were out. The only other option with the groupon was pizza, which she did offer to make with some coaxing. All kiddos were also supposed to get a cookie with the groupon. I must have asked at least 5 times and was promised they would be delivered to our table. Of course we never got the cookies either. Very disappointed.

Alberto was very kind and and did a very god job managing everything. He went around and swept the floor and managed the candy/prize desk! He gave lots of people candyyyy!There were a lot of people at the candy/prize desk and Alberto managed the business very well!Thank you for letting our school have a great time!

This place is so cheap and fun! seriously I got so many things for such a cheap amount! I defiantly recommend going here for fun or for your birthday!

Lori was being disrespectful when we first got here. I dont appreciate how she was acting twords my friend and I. She started cussing and I think she should be fired. Also I would not recommend this place for anyone.
