At long last we now have our very own Laemmle Theater in Glendale on the corner of Maryland and Wilson.I have been attending movies at all manner of Laemmle theater for many, many years. I even remember when the Los Feliz was a Laemmle and that there were 3 Laemmles in Pasadena: 2 near Pasadena City College as well as 1 close to Il Fornaio in which the movie theaters were all downstairs. Not to mention the theaters in Beverly Hills and on the Westside like the Monica 5 and the Encino unit. I am, and have always been a dyed in the wool Laemmle guy: and so has my family and friends. This property is multi-use with not only the movie theater on the bottom floor but condos on the top floors and a restaurant or two forthcoming. I hope this edifice will mark the beginning of a revitalization of the Exchange area which during the 90s and early 2000s was a fun place to go: with a big movie theater, restaurants and retail stores open and bustling with business.Their official first full day of business is today and i was almost the first in line to buy tickets for the much lauded film, 8th Grade. This theater is smaller (5 theaters as opposed to 7) than Pasadena. The physical plant is sophisticated when upon entering you see the Laemmle sign: very cool, sleek and cosmopolitan.Of course since its new, everything is clean and organized. The prices of the popcorn, sodas are way below other chains as well as the entrance fees. They serve Beer, coffee and i think wine. The theaters themselves are minimally decorated which is apropos in that the movie should be the focus and not the color of the seats which are definitely comfortable and rock back for extra comfort. These theaters are much in the nature of the black box as in the Arclights. Both the Film projection and sound production are absolutely superior which is the norm for the Laemmles. I wouldnt have expected anything less here. The actual screens here are larger than they are in Pasadena. There is parking at the Exchange across Wilson as well as a public lot directly across the street at a buck an hour. (btw: i do not know yet what the parking fees are in the Exchange or if Laemmle validates)My only gripe is most of the movies showing here are also showing in Pasadena.Laemmles: couldnt you have pulled out something from your coming soon or classic french or italian drawer to screen as a special treat to celebrate this beautiful new theater?I look forward to having a Laemmle in downtown Glendale and to attending a lot of movies here,Wecome to Glendale, Laemmle!

Great newish art-house theater just off the Brand strip in Glendale. Theaters are small but everything is very nice in terms of seats and screen quality. They serve beer and wine. Food is made fresh, so if you want a hot dog or what have you get there early, it took them 20 minutes to turn out two hot dogs and french fries, with no other orders in front of mine. At one point the manager walked out and said that they only have one oven.

You can count on seeing a good movie whenever you visit this theatre chain. Concessions are reasonable compared to the other chains and they even throw in popcorn seasoning.

Im reluctant to write a review. I dont want to let the secret out. The secret is that this is the best theater in Glendale. Few crowds, several theaters and great independent films. I try to make this theater my first resort anytime I want to see a movie. Feel free check it out for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

A fine new theater, public parking lot across the street, a nice part of downtown Glendale. Kind if understaffed lobby. Good seats and sound. Not reserved seating. This was a ten dollar matinee showing. They have beer and normal movie concessions. Pretty art on the walls and a nice place to watch a movie.

I just love my free non GMO popcorn on Thursdays with my Laemmle gift card. May seem a little steep at first for $100 but you can reload it for $50. M-Th it is only $6 for a movie for Seniors and $9 on the weekends. There are so many theaters with different gems that is easy to go through the $50! But you have seen a variety of quality films not just the latest Hero movie! I just added Dr. Ruth to my list of admired Women! Had no idea the impact she had made after seeing Ask Dr. Ruth today. Hope it is playing somewhere else next week so you can see it, left people chatting in their seats long after it finished! Enjoy!!!

This theater is phenomenal. I love the people working there, the theaters, the films, the projection and sound. Its about a mile from where I live so I simply take a nice walk, catch a film and enjoy the walk back-processing what I just saw.I disappointed that more people dont come here, but Im also kind of happy they dont (selfish, I know). This is the theater you come to see films with a date. You come to see films that have an audience that is also there to see films. Ive had conversations with complete strangers after screenings and that immediate connection is there. FILM.

Small theaters but everything you expect from a Laemmle theater. Great to have a location in Glendale now too. Hit up Daemons across the street for their 3-7 happy hour and get a couple $5.50 MaiThais and catch a movie. One of my favorite ways to catch a film.

I have seen several limited release one one night only films here.A relatively new addition to the Laemmle family, it is convenient to restaurants and other shopping in this area, and several historical landmarks. It is clean, comfortable and nice place to catch a flick. They serve California red and white wine and bottled beer (2 glasses at a time), as well as a limited selection of gourmet food.As with most of the Laemmle Theatres, there is a rotating art exhibit here that features local artists. Take the time to look, you never know what you will find!Parking choices are metered street parking, a lot across the street and there are 2 metered spots right in front of the box office. They do not validate parking.

Really impressed that theyve gotten such a nice theater in as small of a space as they did. Great prices and nice screening rooms. Of course, these arent going to be the biggest screens, but for the size of the theater I was satisfied. They are certainly on par with screening rooms at theaters like the AMC Sunset 5. My only complaint was that I wanted something from concessions during the middle of a last showing, and I was unable to because the staff was cleaning up. I understand that this may be procedure, but it was a bit disappointing.

If the same movie shows at this theater vs Pacific Theaters in Americana, this relatively new arthouse theater in downtown Glendale should be your first choice. It offers a pure moviegoing experience without the overcompensating frills that many chains use to mask failings in the essentials. It has the best projection quality in Glendale and significantly better concessions for the same money—in addition to standard fare, they have local Brewyard Brewery offerings on tap.Specifically, with regards to the viewing experience, I see compression noise and artifacts in the Pacific Theater. Its enough to make actors look waxy and to mute colors. In contrast, every movie Ive seen here at the Laemmle feels much more transparent to what I expect as a professional filmmaker as well as a casual consumer. However, the sound in some theaters feel somewhat boxy, as if the mid eq levels around 400-800hz were turned up. Its a minor technical issue. Two minor minuses for average customers: 1) no assigned seating exists, so you cant reserve your seat like most modern theaters these days and 2) the seats dont recline as much as many modern high end theaters.Given these small dings, I cant give this theater a 5 star rating, but its definitely the best option local to downtown Glendale. Im glad theyre around and given the new SMG movie theater reopening across the street, I hope Laemmle thrives. They provided a much needed service to properly exhibit independent film in an increasingly crowded media landscape.

Really enjoyed this visit to the newest theatres in Glendale. This will be the place to see art house and independent films as well as mainstream movies. Prices are standard across the Laemmle brand so compared to the Pacific theaters at the Americana they are a steal. Seats are not recliners but they are quite comfortable none the less. Theres public parking across the street or a block down as well.

I love Indies and thats what Laemmles is all about. Thought Id check out this their newest theatre in the chain to see if theyve become more like Arclight - you know reserved posh seats, elevated snacks and larger auditoriums. Nope. Its Spartan like their other venues and serviceable. A formula that works apparently to keep them profitable. So, if providing Indies more screens is what we get - I say its worth sitting in coach for 2 - 2 1/2 hours instead of business class.

One of the small up-and-coming film theaters right smack in the center of all the commotion—The Glendale Mall!!! You would be very unhappy to not miss out on one of their select movies playing that is different but moving at the same time. Independent films that don’t get much attention but are worth checking regardless before announce release dates on streaming sites like Netflix and Amazon.Staff was stupendous and courteous. We just finished watching Lars Van Trier’s newest flick ‘Jack Builds a House’. Worth. Every. Penny!—no reserving seat, yes to cushioned chairs with possible reclining features. Stock up on their wine selection and your favorite candy’s, there is something for everyone at the concessions stand. We stuck with the traditional sampling of nachos with cheese tip on the side and extra pickle jalapeños to the side—that loud crunchy texture in a dark room is always musical of laughter to our ears. Enjoy!

What a fantastic addition to the Laemmle theater chain! My only complaint (and its a fairly significant one) is the parking. The lot across the street has the most cumbersome and needlessly complicated system for self parking with no option for an app like PayRange where you could use your phone without a credit card PLUS there are no options for using cash - its completely outdated (the CallToPay option theyre using only works to INCREASE your time in the lot, you still have to manually present a card to get the thing going....ridiculous). One would think a brand new theater could have some influence on the lot directly across the street, but whoever is running that lot doesnt seem to care its becoming a liability for the movie theater, which it is. Ive been there 3 times so far, and each time that lot has caused significant delays. That being said - the movie theater is just great. Its not a movie palace - but it doesnt need to be - its got all the state of the art bells and whistles and a fantastic selection of first run art films and special events thats closer than Pasadena (though Im sure Ill continue to go there every once in a while to get a Vromans fix). Just saw An American In Paris which was outstanding - have tickets for two more special events already - the Sheridan Smith Funny Girl from the Meisner Chocolate Factory and the Kelli OHara The King & I also from the UK but a recording of Ms. OHara in her Tony award winning role. Love that I dont have to drive to UCLA to see these!! Hope a lot of people will come and make Laemmle happy it decided to build in Glendale - now if they could just do something about that parking lot!!
