Parking lot is well maintained. $6.00 for all day parking. We were there to hike. We took the Jim Donnelly trail then switch to the Steer Ridge trail to loop back. It was a moderate 10 miles hike with rewarding beautiful view and especially the wild flowers.

One of the nicest placest to mountain bike in northern Californias bay area Hiking and horses share the trails also! Several awesome fast curvy downhills. Take your time to learn the trail systems, climbs can be grueling but be patient they get easier after three rides. Some very nice views on your climbs and along the ridges. Gulch trails will have small creeks running or springs seeping water. The weekends youll sometimes cross paths with hikers and horse back riders but Be considerate to hikers and horse back riders. We all share the trails and have a mutual respect. Be sure to bring plenty of water. Enjoy!

I started up on the willson trailhead and it was super foggy out so I had no clue where or what to expect. So Im hikeing strate up for about 40 min wondering...my god is this trail going to stayten out and is this fog ever going to burn off so I can see what is going on! Then I got to the top of the peak...the sun came out and started to burn off the fog and I was just in an awww! I thought, heaven...Im in heaven...and theres no place else Id rather be....than on this trail...and its only MEEEE!!!! I made it the full langth of every trial starting from the main lot. In six hours of running and hikeing I only saw three other people...awesome......04 Sep17... 5 hours of running and all I saw was animals. The links was the most unexpected. And the bird was very still and didnt even move. The only way I knew it was alive was it was blinking!

One of the best trailheads for getting into Henry Coe. It is a bit of a drive but you have a few different paths to loop through the park from here. the 6 dollar parking fee is a bit steep. A bit of rain will give you a river crossing not deep but you will get wet.

This place is the best kept secret, such a short drive away from the hustle and bustle of the bay, over 70,000 acres of state park land thats protected. You can hear nature at every turn. You are in the habitat of wild boar, mountain lions, hawks, coyotes, foxes, bobcats. Keep that in mind and respect their home, pack your trash but enjoy the picnic benches scattered throughout the shady spots. The creek dries up in the summer months and exposes secrets that are hidden in the cooler winter months. Take care of this hidden gem and it will take care of you for years to come.

Second of three entry points into Henry Coe State Park. Theres a $6 parking charge for cars, but more parking spots than at Headquarters site. Several trails originate from here, at different grade levels. Great wildflowers in the spring, especially at Steer Ridge.

I have never been here for a hike. But I often drive here to the parking area at nights to watch meteor showers. This is a great little dark area at night, just an hour away from my home. Due to low light pollution, you can easily locate the milky way at night. The night is pretty quiet over here.A lot of night birds and animal sounds can be easily heard.
