Fun byway stop to entertain the kids. It is amazing how much time was put into the display. Pretty expensive though.

Pretty nice museum! 10 bucks for 12 yrs and up, 5 bucks for 3-11. Sounds pricey, but once you go inside and see the detail and work on what the crew did to make the picture pop; well Id gladly keep paying it. Son loved it! We walked around and took it all in and oh and ah over it all. Definitely will be back! The gift shop I hope they update more with more options.

Always find one of these on our road trips. Probably one of the most impressive displays I have ever seen. Nice mix of model train displays as well as fun and historic facts about the area, trains, automobiles, etc.

This was a really nice find. We had been in Brunswick, MD and were told that this would be fun to visit with kids. The model layout is incredible with lots of track and trains. There is a lot of opportunity to interact with the display with various control points to press. There is a good deal of pop culture reference throughout.As well as model trains and cars, there is a fairly extensive Lego display too. All in all a good place to spend an hour or more with children of all ages.

Neat road side attraction. Saw lots of parents bring there little ones. The owners put a lot of TLC into this place. You may have to go twice to catch all the Dr. Who stuff.

Its a bit dated, in need of sprucing and cleaning up. The display was extensive, however several buttons were not working which would have activated the display. Seems the love for the hobby isnt there. The cost of admission was a bit high. Should consider a private massive display with elevated displays offered by Mr Ken Harrison located out of South Mountain Road in Knoxville which is open to the public and is free (donations accepted).

I love the huge model train display with all the different scenes to look at. I wish the displays were maintained a little better. I love the idea.

The staff is wonderful. So much to see. The kids loved the scavenger hunt and all the interactive buttons. Perfect stop for a rail fan

Great for my 2 year old with buttons and such. Needs updating and a good cleaning. Pretty good place to go if you are already in the area but I wouldnt travel far for it. Admission was a little high, $10 for adults.

Plan on spending an hour here at least. These people put so much work into the trains, scenery, etc. Its pretty incredible. If you have toddlers, youll have to hold them in order to see much of it, but so worth it.

It was a little pricey imho to get in, $20 for 2 adults. The train garden is big and well put together but I did not feel they had many trains running. Also the museum aspect had a lot to be desired. The artistic portion is there but definately lacking in history.

What an amazing find in downtown Frederick! The owners have put together a fantastic display of little Villages and railroads. It is great for little kids and big kids who still have a little kid inside of them!

Nephews birthday party, surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

This was an amazing treat for our granddaughter and we all enjoyed it. Everyone who worked there was friendly and inviting. We will be back!!!!

This is an amazing museum for model train enthusiasts! It’s interactive. My 4 year old loved it.

I went here to see if a 5 year old would like it . After I took the two word I would not recommend this for a young child there are not many trains running on the layouts. Although there are interactive buttons they can push to activate some scenes but I would say that this is not worth $10 for an adult and $5 for a child I was very disappointed for what I paid to experience this

You could probably spend an hour here not more than that. But that 1 hour will definitely be interesting if you like trains and stuff!

Bit dated. Kids had fun pushing the buttons. There is a Lego room, but it is only to look at it. If it was a play area would be much better. The train displays are impressive and there are a lot of fun nods to pop culture and funny scenes. Did expect to see more trains in action.

Kids will really enjoy this place. Not a whole lot of things to do; short visit but their trainset is worth seeing! Very big and inclusive with buttons to activate the moving parts.

A smaller version of Roadside America in Pennsylvania. Good. Especially for the young children. Adults will like the large exhibit.

This place is awesome huge railroad setup with interactive buttons. Kids loved it.

Really fun place! Our little one had a blast running around pressing all the buttons to make the trains and other animations move. They also had a Lego room with several detailed displays. Of course, the Lego room has moving trains too! Dont miss the hidden gems like the display showing how the old rotary phone works- it is interactive as well.

One of the best Lionel find the _____ model railroads. Works for kids and adults. Nicely done.

Amazing museum! The craftsmanship and love that went into these displays is evident! Both kids and adults will love this place! we look forward to going back!

This is an awesome and massive model train layout that will please both adults and children for hours. The cost of entry is minimal and the interactive buttons and switches make for a lot of fun for everyone. A definite must-see in the Frederick area for anyone with a love of trains. The only complaint I have is that their bathrooms are small and dont have changing tables in them which is an inconvenience for a place that has so many little kids in attendance.

Awesome place for train enthusiasts as well as the little ones. Plenty to see and the scavenger hunts within the layouts are fun. Prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly.

Wonderful, interactive museum. Great fun for little kids, older kids and adults. Great day trip from DC. Highly recommend. Price of admission lets you return multiple times in the same day (which kids insisted we do!)

One of most amazing museums we have visited. The Lego room hands on display was awesome! Both my 8ish and teen daughters said they could stay for hours.The details were amazing with pop culture icons from recent to literally ancient times. Well done and worth the admission.

Lots of model trains to look at with many buttons for kids to push. A bit pricy for a giant model train setup. Great for kids that love trains. Lego room also had some button pushing activities. We spent about two hours letting the toddler push buttons.

Very impressive how large the model train display was. We enjoyed their Lego room, it was fun finding all the different and some unique characters in the Lego display.

What a nice place to enjoy with my grandkids. Never knew theyd be so interested and even amazed. Spent a couple or more hours looking. Could have used some seating spots for old people. It takes a lot of walking to take it all in.We all had a good time .

Very nicely done exhibition of model train layouts, laced with clever pop cultural references. The Roads and Rails Museum is a delightful surprise.

This train garden is fantastic. Its the largest one that Ive ever been to here on the east coast. Theres a sign inside that says it took five people five years to build it. You can tell they took their time and paid attention to detail. If youre in Frederick make a point to stop in!

Visited museum today - my kids enjoyed the train exhibits but I was disappointed with price to get in ($25 for four of us) and only one room with train setups. Have been to a few others that were free or less expensive and offered more to see. Friendly staff though.

Great activity for the whole family. Lots of creativity and knowledgable staff. Enough action to keep a three year old occupied for two hours, with tongue and cheek humor throughout the layout to even have adults enjoy.

Wonderful place to visit. The main train setup, although only living in one room, offers hours of investigation and exploration. The lego train setup is exquisite. This is not the place for hard-core scale purists (as in, everything has to be size and period correct in the display), but it is a neat place to explore with a youngun.

Roads and Rails was the coolest place I have been in a while. I think they should charge more than $8 to see the exhibit...Puts Thomas the Train sets, and even the many train displays you would see during a Christmas in Manhattan, to shame. You will be amazed!

Roads and Rails is quite the place for kids of all ages. Aimed mainly at model railroad fans and those who love miniatures in general, its a great way to spend an hour or so during an afternoon downtown stroll. There are a couple model train displays in the gift shop, but the real draw is behind the curtain. The model train layout is gigantic! Its a historical fantasy land of model railroading, as its made up of a wide range of model sizes & scales, time periods, and even a few fandoms. Pay close enough attention during your visit and you may see a TARDIS and several of The Doctors adversaries. Throughout the train layout, youll find a functioning drive-in theater, the Cobra Kai Dojo from The Karate Kid, an Old West town, an erupting volcano, a working carnival complete with roller coaster, a UFO landing, police chases, a prehistoric cave dwelling with residents, and a New York Subway station. At the far end of the model train room is a small display showcasing a piece of coal from the wreck of Titanic. Down a side hall, youll find the Lego Room, a display created from several dozen individual Lego play sets. Like the main model train layout, it mixes themes and eras, but its just as fun!
