Place full of historical information. Once you walk in you feel proud of the legacy of the ladies who change the story and made a difference. Women who open the door for the new generation. This was the day of the re opening of the museum and inauguration of the second floor where the costume of Wonder Woman dress by Gal Gadot was exposed.

A fascinating gem of a museum highlighting a little-known area of our history. From exhibits on unsung cowgirls past, to the famous Annie Oakley, it tells the story of their hard work and determination to succeed against steep obstacles in a male-dominated arena. Well worth the visit!

I thoroughly enjoyed a couple of hours wandering through the beautiful building and seeing the collection of cowgirl memorabilia housed here. It includes a very extensive collection of Annie Oakley items with a detailed history of her career. They have a nice collection of personal items from country singers, writers, and artists as well. The gift store is very nicely stocked with a wide selection of books along with the usual touristy collectibles. Also worth noting are the sculptures on the grounds of the building. These include Sacajawea, Sgt. Reckless, and High Desert Princess. Facing Dickey Arena is also the Richard Haas Mural featuring five cowgirls on horseback. Definitely worth a trip!

Summary (4/5): a somewhat small, but beautifully designed museum that offers a comparatively small selection of items complemented well with technology. For $12 per adult , the cowgirl museum cannot compete with enormous museums that have multiple exbibits and a hoard of historical artifacts. Yet, the pieces that they do have are well complemented by digital imagery and mini hologram videos. It provides a good overview of the contributions and accomplishments of various cowgirls and the addition of a free photo booth and mechanical bronco is a pleasant surprise. However, the narratives of various cowgirls are not as cohesive as Id like, and the fact that parking is a flat $10 makes it value diminish.

Its a cowgirl museum, whats not to love? The museum was still under renovation when I went, but the bottom floor was finished. It was gorgeous. Modern layout, clean white walls, and an inviting atmosphere. Personally, I found the small size of the exhibits to be refreshing and not overwhelming. Oh and they have a great photo booth.

I adored this museum! I visited the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame almost a month ago. My boyfriend took me on a little getaway to Fort Worth for my birthday. I had such an entertaining time. I was so elated to see all of the different cowgirl outfits and to take pictures with them. I thought the photo booth was hysterical. My boyfriend and I had such an amusing time taking pictures with the different backdrops. I even got to ride a pretend bull. My boyfriend laughed so hard! That was lively. I could have stayed in the museum for most of the day. When my boyfriend and I were done touring the museum, I had to visit the gift shop. I had my eye on a purse, and my boyfriend astonished me when he bought it for me. He also bought me matching earrings, a pin, and some postcards. I immensely reccomend visiting the museum if you are a country girl at heart. I would undeniably come back and visit the museum in a few years.

A beautiful installation if you like metal, lucite, and electronics. Several years ago we went and loved all the artifacts on display. We were so impressed with how many pieces the collection offered. Last week we took two guests from out of state. Most of the collection is now accessible from electronic portals. Seeing a tiny photo of a pair of boots isnt the same as seeing the boots. To even see them you first have to know which lady youre interested in, find her on a video screen, CLICK, see the numbered options at the bottom of the little screen and CLICK until you see something interesting. A beautiful generic place that could be anywhere in the world once you walk inside. Except for the video walls of horses running in pasture (nothing about cowgirls...) it could easily be converted to any purpose - just change the video. The main displays upstairs are on five white tables. Our guests were polite and very disappointed.

We first learned about it watching Cowgirls on TV. There are exhibits on female Western entertainers, rodeo performers, and pioneer ladies. There is also room for more material, so I expect the museum to keep getting better as time goes by. It is situated adjacent to the Cattlemens Museum, also very much worth a visit.

I havent visited this museum in quite a few years. A friend and I visited on the first Sunday after the recent remodel. This place is so very interesting, and the live movie mural of the horses upstairs is breathtaking. Its like you could reach out and touch them. The vistas alternate, and the weather / time of day changes. It surrounds you. There is also a small horse statute with saddle so young ones can practice getting up and down from a horse. We enjoyed being whooping it up on the bucking bronco. It sent a short video to our email. Theres also a photo booth where you can choose to have photo taken with Annie Oakley or other Western scenes. All in all we spent over three hours enjoying the Cowgirl Museum. Check out the real Wonder Women costume, and read up on the horse expert that worked on the film. Cheers or should I say Yee Haw

This museum has a great theme and tries hard but there are limited displays and few actual cowgirl memorabilia. I would suggest they acquire a LOT more old ranching gear, outfits, saddles, boots, etc so there is more to look at. Quite a great idea, disappointing how limited the collection is. For the only COWGIRL exhibit, we need more cowgirl gear from all time periods.

The museum is the best museum I’ve been to in a long time. It was incredibly well done, not overwhelming at all, and they had holograms of Annie Oakley recessed in the walls at adult eye level, but had toddler stairs with rails for kiddos so they could see too. They have a bronco ride that records your ride that you can text or email to yourself. They also had a photo booth with different scenes you could be added into. Prints and digital images are free! And they had a little bingo game/scavenger hunt thing for kids so the displays would grab their attention. You don’t win anything for finding everything but it was still fun.Out front they even have a little fountain/splash pad!Five stars and ALL the thumbs up!

As of Jan. 2019, much of this space is under renovation. General exhibit as much about wild west shows as about women in those shows. Surprised that there were few other examples of female ranchers or working cowgirls. Mostly females in wild west shows. Check out the photo booth where you get photo next to Annie Oakley or Buffalo Bill.

Took my wife there as part of her Birthday (she loves horses, the outdoors, and history). She loved it! We ran out of time to see and read about everything. There are several interactive parts of the museum that are really fun. You can take pictures of yourself in cowboy/cowgirl settings and print them out and send to your phone. You can ride the bucking bronco and make a video you can watch and see online. The quality of the exhibits is very good and displays are appealing. A few things for kids, too, although we came by ourselves. You may be able to save $7 for parking if you can find a spot and walk in rather than park in the adjacent lot.

Really, really cool to be able to take my daughter (shes 3) and two sons (theyre 2 and 11) here and show her/them all the brave cowgirls! Lots of really fantastic artifacts, clothing, sterling and turquoise jewelry and possibly the most beautiful custom saddle Ive ever seen! Nice mix of historical highlights explained and delivered in a way (holograms of Annie Oakley acting out significant historical events, throughout the exhibits) that even my PICKY know it all 11 year old was impressed! And thats saying something... The curator of this museum obviously has put in a great deal of time and effort into making sure that what could be seen as a very dry and lackluster page in our history books isnt!! In fact, its quite the opposite! Make sure to stop on your way out and take your spooky, old timey black and white picture of you and your family alongside a shotgun toting, Annie Oakley as she poses for a picture with you before fading off into the dusty wild wild west... Oh and its entirely FREE, or at least it was during the FWSS&R!

Architecturally - a gorgeous building. Very new and spacious inside. Amazing artifacts inside and we loved the free photo booth downstairs (the paid one upstairs had less interesting photo options). Only downside was the gift shop was very pricey.
