Golf course a bit confusing right now but definitely worth the money. I always love the pro shop. All the staff and course marshals are easy going and very respectful. Course looks great. Can’t wait for Big Shots to open and the course to get back to normal.

The pace was SUPER slow with three different rangers we had a 3:17 front and 2:50 back. The slow play was one thing but the greens made the experience absolutely awful. They are in HORRIBLE shape and lets not mention the traps... Its apparent that there are issues whether by management or just a lack of interest and it shows. I definitely will never play here again. From pro shop to the course it was a completely awful experience... Dont waste your time and definitely dont waste your money here. Plenty of great courses in the area with better value and absolutely better conditions...

What a disappointment! Even driving the golf cart over the rickety wooden bridge showed the disrepair of the course! The fairways and greens werent bad but the perimeter of the course and the lack of proper signage were uncalled for. Stand in the first tee box and try to figure out where to go after you tee off...good luck.

They completely resequenced the holes on the course, so no GPS or Sky Caddie will help. This was tough since I never played the course before. Also a majority of the holes dont have yardage markers, only the 150.Great staff and Marshall. Greens were good and were cut at about a 8 or 9. So fairly slow. Nice club house but confusing if youve never been there. No place to set your clubs up at the bag drop in front, so you put your clubs on the ground before you go into the club house. Pro Shop is to the right when you go through the front door.I suspect they are still figuring out the new course layout because multiple par 3s in a row is no fun, plus 17 and 18 are interesting too.Getting to the driving range is an adventure if youve never been there. They have 2 ranges that face each other.Multiple greens with blind shots to the flags. The Green fringe is very unforgiving so make sure you hit the green. The slow greens will keep your ball from rolling off the green.Easy to book a teetime online so that was good.Pro shop was fairly small and not too many golfball selections.I would be interested to play this again when all the yardage markers and layout is complete. So maybe spring 2020.

You would think what they charge for 18 with a cart you would get an excellent place to play. I was very surprised that this course has lots of issues starting with the greens are not smooth, burnt, dead spots etc. There are some tee boxes that need a lot of work and dont even get me started on the bunkers. This was my first time and my last time playing here I didnt even finish my round because I stopped with 9. Just plain ridiculous....

Played 18 holes yesterday and had a great time. Yes I read the reviews talking about the greens being bumpier than a frozen pickle but thats how it goes when greens are under emergency repair. Overall the course was in good, playable shape. The birds eye view is what is important here. First, this GC is not crowded...almost like having the place to yourself....so sweet. Second, I encountered an extremely cordial staff....and that includes a friendly question answerer in the parking lot, a knowledgeable and accommodating pro-shop attendant, greens keepers who looked out for golfers, and a smiling cart attendant.I played on a coupon but would gladly come back and pay full price. If you have to have perfect greens, then wait a few months. If you want to play a course that offers more than what you bargained for, go play Champions now.

Played a lot of rounds out here in the early years after it first opened. A Greg Norman design that originally was so difficult that even Greg Norman, according to local legend, agreed with when he came back to play it. Ended up doing some redesign to make more playable for me and you. Always had a great staff here, in my opinion, and always offered reasonable rates, especially for seniors. The course has a good mix of holes, I play the middle tees, from real tough to eas(ier). Always fun to play, with good pace of play during the week. Weekends are for fishing, not 5 hour rounds of golf.

My wife and I played on 6-17-18 and the following day, I was sent a request to fill out a survey by Players 1st golf. I was very honest about the course quality and the pace of play, not negative, just honest. Keep in mind, this is the course asking me to provide feedback about things that were good and bad.I received a response from Adena Wallace which I thought was great, management cares. Wrong. Instead of taking feedback and acknowledging it, she disputed the items I relayed. There was not a starter when we went to check in at 10:25. Evidenced by the fact there were a total of 5 twosomes playing back to back when the course was fully booked. There was not a Marshal (to assist with slow pace of play) that passed us during any portion of the almost 5 hrs it took to play the round. Several holes, we sat with two other groups waiting on the teebox. To show how far out of touch she was with the operation on Sun, she went one further. In the survey it asks, were there any other areas to address. I relayed that when I checked in at the pro shop, I asked to purchase range balls. The gentleman behind the counter explained that balls were available at the range and were complimentary. Unfortunately, there were none available and we scrounged up a few apiece to warm up. Now according to Adena Wallace, my booking did not include range balls and I should have purchased them. So if your employee at the counter tells me they are complimentary on the range, how would I get him to sell me range balls?Nothing disparaging or anything else in my survey, just pointing out that a starter and Marshal may have helped with pace of play. Next time, dont ask for feedback if you have no intention of acknowledging it and accepting it for what it is, just feedback.

Got to play here thanks to a coupon from a third party. This course is pretty wide open. We played a full 18 holes of golf. It was not crowded so we were able to enjoy our round of golf a little more. The course was very dry and the greens were very fast that day, but I understand the course being dry during the Summer months. Overall it was a good experience.

This course would actually be quite beautiful, if it wasnt in complete disrepair. Supposedly originally designed by Greg Norman, he would weep if he saw the condition.Shockingly they were fertilizing and watering the greens on Sunday morning at 11:00 am, which not only was bizarre, it was incredibly annoying because they were always one hole behind us. ...well until I said something to the head groundskeeper, who, not only was a jerk, clearly has no idea about course maintenance. The holes were very challenging and fun. I think we found more balls than we lost. The greens were bunkers. Seriously.Bottom line: With the abundance of awesome courses here in Dallas/Fort Worth, dont bother spending your hard-earned money here.

This is a layout that is very challenging. However, the condition of the course is less than adequate. I think it goes without saying that in the Texas August heat you will have some dry areas of a golf course. This one is one of the driest around. It is apparent that either a. maintenance department is substandard and doesnt care or B. Management is spending the money on adequate service items. There were a number of sprinkler heads just laying on the ground. I made the comment that I would not be surprised that this course may shutdown in the near future. That being said, I found that the staff was very friendly and had us out playing in a hurry. The clubhouse is nice and clean so there are some bright spots. Here are the things I would like to see: 1. Water the course to bring it back to a decent condition before it turns into the goat ranch. 2. There needs to be a layout map of the course to be able to know how to play it.Definately would not spend the full price playing this course but the 1/2 off coupons were nice. Plus, playing with my wife and neighbor made my day!

The course was hosting the Texas Junior Golf event so it was quite busy. The course was challenging but dry (not surprising since it was late summer and the region was under a drought) and many of the bunkers were hard pan and rocky. We played under a Marriott golf package so it was not expensive. Other reviewers indicate maintenance has been an issue but it would be nice to play if they can maintain the course.

Played a charity tournament in the rain May 3rd. Had club slip on the second hole into the pond but clearly visible. Was told in the pro shop they would send someone out to retrieve the club. Followed up several times only to be told they hadn’t got out there yet. Called and spoke with Adena on May 29th, she stated they have been too busy with all their projects to get the club. She assured me they would check into and “try to call me back”. Not impressed with Troon so far. Customer service does not seem to be a priority.

Review №65

Course was in good shape. Fairways were the best I had seen out there. The Bermuda greens were a bit shaggy. The pace was pretty bad early on. They should have a starter or somebody out there at the 1st tee directing traffic. Kind of free for all. It was really backed up the first few holes, but like other times I have been there, once you get to the easier holes it opens up. I do not know if it is worth the $69 green fee when compared to other courses in the area with that same rate. However, it is worth the afternoon reduced rates. If they could cut the greens a bit shorter and get them really slick then it would be worth the higher fee.

Played in the rain recently. Course was in decent shape. Some tee boxes not closely mown, greens were a little thin in places, but overall I enjoyed a rainy round; difficult to tell if some of the things I saw were weather/rain related, or actual course issues.Staff was very helpful @ check in. Made sure to credit Troon account, and gave me a quick tutorial on the course before I went out; water/creeks in places that arent apparent.
