This was more of a walk than a hike, but its still really beautiful. its really easy to get to, and fully paved so its accessible to just about anyone. We got lucky to catch views of wildlife before they scampered off. I only did half the trail next time I will do the whole thing

Went to a drive-in concert because of the covid and it was so fun and so pleasant and great to be outside listening to music. They had a cute little golf cart ice cream wagon they should have had food trucks but it was a good night and miss Kitty you did a fantastic job as usual. The Johnny Cash cover band was spot on. Please have more.

Very nice bike trail and great for walking. There are a couple good steep hills. But not too bad. We walked a bit with our 8 year old. We looped it around over the dam and back over Rainbow bridge. Took about 2.5 hours going slow. Great short family trip to get outside.

Best way to get from Empire Ranch, Briggs Ranch and The Parkway to Sutter street without having to worry about cars. Once the art installations are complete this will be the best outdoor attraction in Folsom.

Great addition to the Folsom bike trails. It provides a convenient way for riding your bike from downtown Folsom to Folsom Lake. It has a few difficult hills that makes it a little challenging, but overall it is a pretty easy ride. There is a convenient under passing under one of the prison roads to allow you to bypass the street light. Theres also a beautiful new bridge built that spans the ravine.

Nice short trail for biking. About 5-6 miles long. Has 2 nice bridges with great view and a run close to the folsom damb. I guess quick for bikers and too long for hikers. But still beautiful and good to try at least once.

Great trail. Scenic. The bicyclists need to have respect for pedestrians too. This is NOT the Tour de France and you are NOT Lance Armstrong. Met some real jerks on this trail riding bikes. Met some super cool people too.

Did this today with my teen daughter, it was fun, the Johnny Cash Trail is only about 2 miles then it turns into the Folsom Bike Trail I think thats what it is called, and then it separates again for maybe half a mile stretch, there is an ugly stretch along a very busy and loud street for maybe a mile very unenjoyable stretch, also I wish they had markers in two spots especially if you are going counter clockwise you can miss the left hand turns to get you back on the trail as the paved trail especially when you need to go left over the Rainbow bridge there should be a sign there, it is a very busy hike with bikes flying by you at speed, if you have a small child hold their hand at all time, you are supposed to walk on the left against traffic, the bikes get the right lane, its sort of backwards

Kudos to the Folsom City government for making the bike trails in Folsom so much fun and easy to use. The latest project is to open up new sections of the Johnny Cash Trail, which extends from Folsom Prison to the pedestrian bridge over the Folsom Lake Crossing road. There is also a new tunnel going in under Prison Road at E. Natoma Street, so bikers wont have to stop for traffic on that busy road. There is also an extension from Prison Road, across prison property, going towards the American River and connecting to the existing bike path at Rodeo Park. Wonderful trail that is expected to open Oct. 14, 2017

Its a good trail. My significant other and I tried this trail out our first time. Trail was tiring going up to the small pedestrian bridge over the freeway (going up hill on a bike). But the way back was a breeze (going mostly down hill on a bike) and all the hardwork going up was worth it.P.s: trail leads pass the Folsom Women Facility (FWF).

So pretty in the springtime! I love to bring my dog here. It is the long perfect walk to wear out a puppy. Watch out for ticks! It is also fantastic for biking. There is lots of traffic sometimes and it comes close to the road, so keep the little ones close. Also, I hope that the development of the trail is eventually finalized

Great walk from parking lot at the end of Stafford Street, then east on the Johnny Cash Trail, across the new & impressive Robbers Ravine Bridge, & then up to walking alongside Folsom Prison. Its a mile to the 5th power pole after going under Prison Road, & 2 miles to overlooking Folsom Dam. Turn around at either point -- a very nice walk at either distance!

Not what I was expecting. I thought it would be a trail around and through the hills and oaks of folsom and see folsom prison. Instead it was a walk into oncoming bikes on a paved bike trail. A few times the trail split and there was no signage...which ultimately led us onto the bike trial right next to a freeway like road in front of the folsom dam. No signs saying end of the trail or it goes that way! We got so far away we called an uber to pick us up and drive us back to the parking lot. Also heard there were art installations along the way. Didnt see any of that other than a couple plaques and the Johnny Cash bridge.

The Johnny Cash Trail is located in Folsom, CA. The trail begins at 50 E. Natoma Street, near the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary, Public Library, Lion’s Park, City Hall, and Dan Russell Rodeo Arena. The Johnny Cash Trail runs behind the City Hall campus, taking visitors on a scenic path with views of the American River and across the newly constructed Robbers’ Ravine Bridge. Trail goers then traverse safely under Prison Road through a newly constructed tunnel, and then parallel to E. Natoma Street up towards Folsom Crossing and over the Johnny Cash Overcrossing Bridge near Folsom Lake. The trail itself is a Class I paved multi-use bike trail that welcomes cyclists, runners, joggers, and walkers. The Johnny Cash Trail connects the existing Class I trail at Historic Downtown Folsom and the popular, Class II Folsom Lake Crossing Trail.

I enjoyed it but it’s overrated online.Theres no sculptures out there as of today. So if you are going for that you will be disappointed. Its not a 3 mile trail, the loop is 6 or more miles.Theres no bathrooms.I parked at the library but discovered more free parking at the visitor center and a entrance to the trail is across the street from it with visible signs.Theres signs only on some of the trail so use a app or gps to make sure u are on track.Theres also a sign saying it’s the Johnny Cash trail by the prison but it’s really not it’s a dead end and you must turn around. The whole trail is paved so it stroller friendly.I gave it a 3 star because after I researched it online says it was completed in 2017 even though it’s not completed.Theres pics of sculptures online but there was nothing out there but signs telling you the locations of the sculptures.Hopefully they will be out there soon.

The Johnny Cash Trail is an incredible project. Right now its a multi-use bike trail that takes you near Folsom Prison and over the landmark overpass bridge. Its a lovely, scenic place to walk or ride your bike. But its going to be so much more and thats the exciting part. I cant wait for the art to be installed along the trail and for the Legacy Park to be built. When the project is complete, the trail will be a world-class public art trail and park paying homage to the legacy of Johnny Cash in Folsom, and theres not going to be anything else like it in Folsom or anywhere else. So cool!

Great trail with little off-shoot trails so you can get closer to the river or check out off the beaten path. Properly marked fir both bicyclists and pedestrians. Great ideas planned for an amphitheater and more but they need donations and more funding. Park in historic Folsom, take the trail and stop for lunch or a treat before heafing home!

My dog and I walked from Old Town Folsom to Folsom Dam crossover Bridge. GPS says its 1.7 miles each way. Not a bad walk. Why would anyone give a bike path/walkway 1 star unless it was through a ghetto? Its an excellent addition to Folsom and my heart skipped a beat ( unexpected and beautiful) when I saw the wooden bridge near the Rodeo. Folsom cant change their landscape to look like Willy Wonka designed it ffs. If you dont like walking or biking go to the movies and sit.
