The museum is small, but interesting. The top of the mound gives you incredible views of the surrounding area. You just have to close your eyes and imagine how beautiful the river basin would have been in their time.

One of the most interesting things to visit in Florence is the Florence Indian Mound museum. Not only is the mound itself incredible, but the museum is top notch. The museum is host to many events, many of which are geared towards educating children. The owners are super awesome and make sure to treat you like family when you visit. When in florence this is a must visit, and you will walk away well educated, and with a smile on your face. Do yourself a favor. VISIT!!! You will not regret it.

An unsightly industrial zone now surrounds the 43-foot-tall mound, and its adjacent museum. But that shouldnt put you off. If this ancient relic were in Rome, tourists would be lining up to marvel at the several-thousand-year-old pile of earth. Standing on its grassy top feels a little like being an astronaut on a dead alien planet. The museum next door can give you insight into the long-ago world of its creators.

What a fantastic place! It gives a great deal of context around the cultures existing before and during the creation of the mound. It also details what occured after European contact within the area.

This mound is kind of hidden in an industrial complex so it can be a little bit of a maze as you navigate around trying to find it. But it is really really cool. It basically looks like a medium sized hill to the uneducated eye. But there is so much more. Too bad the museum was closed when I drove by this place. Either way it was still very fun to look at.

Its a weird spot for a mound to be now. Great spot when it was first created. Now it sits in an industrial area. The building is much nicer than the mound. However, the display area inside is small and contains conflicting information. Three different time periods on when bows were introduced. So you wonder how much more information isnt correct. The mound itself isnt much of youve visited others. The whole point is to see how connected to the sky and spirits that the top of the mound is, but when all you see are industrial buildings the connection is broken.
