We loved visiting Applewood. We did both the gardens tour as well as the house tour. The gardens tour is everyday at noon and does not require a reservation. We really loved our personalized tour with Becky and I think the other girls name was Wendy but I’m not sure. They are very passionate about where they work at.Tracy gave us a great tour of the inside of the house and he was very passionate and informative.

It is the most beautiful garden in my city in Flint, MI. During the season, I go to Applewood State, to follow the gardens flowering and to enjoy the beauty of the place.

We went to the Halloween event. There was a story teller, treat stations, and crafts that kids can do. Its a safe place to take the kids for an halloween event. If you wanted to go just for candy this wasnt the place for that. I think my kids only got a few pieces.

Very beautiful grounds to study at, learn the area, or take photos. I enjoyed learning about the grounds and the person who owned the property. Right at the beginning, a staff member gives you a map of the area to navigate your way through. However, some rooms in the house (upstairs) are not even period correct and are modern office spaces. I suggest moving the office spaces someplace else on the property or even in the Flint area. Also, I think this place should also have a store so that people coming to the area can purchase jams, foods, and items. They can bring home something special from the grounds to enjoy.

This was my first time on the property. It was absolutely beautiful. The tulips were in full bloom. It was still to early in the year for all of the gardens to be in bloom yet. The grounds were so clean. The volunteers were all so curtious and knowledgeable. My family and I took a tour of the inside of the home. Ive lived in Flint all of my life and never realised how special Applewood would be for me. CS Mott was one of the starting founders of what made Flint great. To look back to the early 1900s until now. The Mott family had wonderful values that still continue to give back to the community to this day through the Mott Foundation.I would recommend anyone to go for a visit and see for yourself. They say the best time to see everything in bloom is in mid July.I dont think that the house tour is wheelchair accessible. Call ahead to verify any information needed. This is a great piece of Flints preserved history!

The tours are popular and seem to book up quickly, especially in summer, so check their website before arriving if you want to tour the home. Our tour guide was a little too we are the earth and the earth is us for my taste, but was also incredibly kind, informative and inclusive. The eastate and tour have so much to offer. The gardens are spectacular and the home is really stunning, too. We toured with all ages (7-70) and all were interested and came away with new knowledge. A very very pleasant way to spend a Saturday morning!
