A little more than a flat terrain nature park and a little lighter than a hike, this nature walk in suburbia is an accessible getaway. While you can hear 696 throughout your experience, if you make a point to stay present there’s a lot to experience and see (e.g. animals, flowers, trees, etc.). I appreciate the benches they have scattered along the paths, which can provide some respite if you need a break. This was an engaging walk through interesting terrain.

Although there was road noise, this was a totally unexpected experience. Be sure to find the last trail loop. It looks over the pond and for fall colors is well worth it. The guideposts are not very helpful but it’s not so big that one would be totally lost.

Love this trail! Its nicely wooded, even though you can hear the freeway the whole time (just pretend its the ocean). Highlights: rock stacking sanctuary, regular deer, creek and ravine. Dont miss the little bonus trail behind the pond.Warning. It is VERY muddy in the spring.

A little bit of wooded nature for a peaceful walk with only a few small valleys to go down on back up. Some wood chips on trails but most with out. If you go out after a day of rain, expensive tennis shoes ISNT a good idea as some fellow hikers learn. Even with pandemic cutting the traffic on I-696 is easily heard but no leaves to help lessen. Rest room is more like an outhouse than late 20th century. Will be back when drier and the leaves are out.

Close by city park to spend a few minutes walking and spending time admiring nature. In a two mile walk we saw two deer, many ducks and a blue heron. Only downside is I696 borders the north end of the park and creates a lot of traffic noise.

Great little nature area with hiking trails wildlife and a pond, unfortunately very close to I-696, so traffic can be heard everywhere in the park. Never seems to be really busy with only a few people on the trails. Really wish this park allowed dogs, but there are NO Farmington Hills parks that do (with the exception of the dog park).

This park is a no for me. It felt so secluded that I feared for my safety. I was walking the trail and not even a minute in, Im like, nope, turn back. I had no idea where it was leading and it was just high brush and myself. The fear of the unknown got to me. Made me turn back. I watched too many ID investigations to ever let my curiosity get the best of me to see where it leads. If you ever decided to go there, proceed with caution. Looks like a one way in, one way out type of trail.

This would be a beautiful place IF it werent for the fact that...dogs arent allowed..picnicking isnt allowed (although there are two picnic tables right as you go in!) And no jogging or running is allowed!!! COME ON LETS BE REALISTIC!

Trails are usually muddy and overgrown with a lot of highway noise. However you may still spots some wildlife. River area is like mini version of grand canyon. Keep this trail after sunny days or always use hiking boot and prepare for mud

Beautiful trails easily accessible. No pets and a bit mucky in spring after snow melts. Also close to I696 so you do hear the shhhh of the freeway in the background. Trails a notch below IMHO but down the road (Farmington rd) at Heritage Park feels more secluded.

Beautiful little trail system in a suburban landscape. Lots of wildlife. Trail starts off very well groomed then becomes a bit more rustic back near the river and ponds. Wear shoes that you dont mind getting dirty.

This isnt one of the better trails in the area. Its not well-maintained and parts can get very muddy. There is quite a bit of noise from freeway traffic and there are also more bugs in the warmer months than other trails. I would recommend nearby Heritage Park over this one.

The biggest caveat is the proximity to i696. The traffic noise is just too much. If you are looking for a quite time, this isnt your kind of place. If you are not bothered by it, then go ahead.

Good gods dont go here without hiking boots. It is VERY muddy and crappily maintained. The noise from the nearby highway is loud as hell, and there are a ridiculous amount of restrictions. Plus theres only one PokéStop if you play Pokémon Go at parks.Just go to the Farmington Hills Nature Center, which is greatly maintained, prettier, has free activities AND hiking, has longer trails, has PokéStops, and has critters to see.

Nice woodland park, more for hiking than picnics, narrow primitive trails and a lot of natural wildlife. The noise of traffic from the nearby freeway will remind you that you are in the city. Although pet free, there were many violators. Mentioned wildlife includes snakes, so wear good hiking boots. Parking area is very limited for cars, but there is bicycle parking.

Beautiful wooded trail, but the solitude is marred by the noise of traffic on the nearby highway. Sign at the entrance of the park forbids too many activities. Your dog would greatly enjoy a walk on the path, but the municipality prohibits all pets, even on a leash, as well as removal of anything alive or dead.

This is a very nice natural park, is clean (Meaning that visitors are respecting Mother Nature with a smile) and the trails are easy to navigate. However, you do have to watch your steps because the tree roots, just might decide to take a hold of the tip of your shoes as you walk alone the paths. One other thing, the noises from the highway traffic can be a little nerve wrecking, but at the same time it can be very helpful to you if you have problems with navigation. The sounds can assist you with orientating you back to your point of reference. It is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
