We enjoyed Pioneer Park even though most of the shops were closed.......except for the Train Museum. Gary was a gracious host in explaining the history of the trains in Alaska. Working old time trains! WOW!If you just read about the trains at the beginning of the museum, the history lesson all makes sense.Thank you Gary!

Cool place to walk around. None of the stores open until noontime. So although the park is open early dont expect to go in any buildings or shops. The Park itself is very peaceful to walk around before the shops open and you can still see all of the old equipment and cabins. The restrooms were overflowing and could use some cleaning and plumbing work.

March 2020- Not open on winter. A very nice historic place with real population and habitat of past centuries.Small cabins. In winter is open but nothing will be open or alive to see. You can only walk between the little cabins and read the history but thats it.June 2020- is still not open due to covid 19. I did see one cabin open and it was some sort of food. Mostly people came here for taking a walk and hanging around with their kids at the park. Also some couples eating in tables. Other than that nothing was opened.

Too many open areas, exits/entrances for kids to run and get lost. I prefer smaller parks to keep a better eye on my little kids. But every visitor to Fairbanks should visit there in the summer to see the little old cabins and get ice cream. The walking trail by the river is well worth it too.

This is a cute place with pioneer buildings. Everything is currently closed (October 2020), although Im not sure if thats due to covid or winter. It looked like a set or ghost town with a cartoon-like facade. It was very empty with almost no other people.

Cane here during the winter on a very snowy day and had a beautiful stroll around. Very nice scenery. Nice to walk around and see all the different areas of Fairbanks. Nice area for photography. Cute little log houses that you could peek into. The auditorium was a bit outdated but nice to go in and see the local art exhibitions.

Great local park to walk around and enjoy sights. Take the train round around the park, best $2 you will spend. Visit the train museum and see some old HOs and other model trains, can even walk on a steam train. The air museum is another really nice place to visit. Some really neat artifact can be found here. There a part that is like an old gold Rush town, log cabins and all.If you have kids they have a play ground and the kids were having a blast out there. Theere is something for all to enjoy.

A great place for many activities from shopping, to exploring the several museums, different varieties of art in music to culture to contemporary, and a playground for the kids. In addition, every night at 7 they feature a music performances. The Pioneer Park also has many food vendors and a lot of different places to have a picnic or a BBQ or your organization or business can book a pavilion for summer picnic parties. They have an optional RV parking as well. So, much more to name, definitely a great place for the family and visitors. I would definitely recommend coming here.

First, please note that this is pretty much an exclusively summer park. Theres little to nothing happening here in the winter. That being said, if you are here in the summer, this is a pretty fun, historically themed park. Lots of options to explore, and the people manning the businesses are friendly and chatty. All in all, its a fun place to spend some time or even just take a browsing walk.

People should know that they have removed all seating from under the pavilions and so there is no seating out of the sun except in the weeds and bramble. They are not taking care of the grounds as they did in the past. Its shameful how they have let the Nenana just rot in place after setting up the wonderful display cases inside.

Pioneer Park (still called Alaskaland by locals) features great chunks of Fairbanks and Alaska history, including the Pioneer Plane Museum, the SS Nenana steamship, and a whole mini town of refurbished houses turned into shops. While the park has sunk into a bit of disrepair (compounded by many temporary closures due to 2020s COVID-19), its still in a central location and offers plenty to explore. Plus, its free. Worth a visit!

This place was really neat. If you are visiting Fairbanks I would strongly recommend visiting this place. They have several fun activities for your kids. Most of the things are free (except the train ride and the aviation museum).

This is a beautiful area to visit during the non-snow times. Im surprised its free to walk around. I guess with all the events they host and the businesses set up in the cabins they get enough to keep running. Theres a little train that goes around the whole park and plenty of space to let the kids lose. I just go to some of the events or walk around, let my toddler play, and eat, but there are plenty of other things here, too.

We had a very mixed experience here. We took advantage of their RV parking-lot park and stayed 2 nights ($12, self registration) You are very close to the main road. The first night we had no issues. It was reasonably quiet for an inner town parking lot but the second night, we had locals in cars screaming around our unit, blaring music and beeping their horn. Im glad my kids would sleep through anything because its quiet a disturbing experience. With no one else in the parking lot, they parked within 2 feel of our unit and played their music full blast for half an hour. We left the next day. The park itself was nearly all closed when we visited and only the museum was open, they charge for the theatre/painting exhibit and request a donation to enter. It didnt look very interesting so we didnt go in.
