Was such a great experience, especially if youre a car or truck enthusiast! The guys who own/ run it take the time to tell and/or show you so much about all the vehicles. I absolutely LOVED seeing them as well as learning about their history and specifications. More then just cars, some of the very first motorcycles and snow machines as well.

One of a kind. Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum is a must see for anyone that travels to Alaska. It is definitely worth the stop. Plan on 2-4 hours to really enjoy the place. I have teenage kiddos that loved it. This is a first class car museum and the people there have so much knowledge about where the cars came from and what it took to restore them. Even the ladys will love all the antique dresses that they have on display...and all the cars but 3, they drive every year. Not your typical museum car. Again I absolutely recommend stopping here for a relaxing afternoon. Open Sundays and Wednesdays only.

Antique American cars, plus a great staff makes for a great museum. This is the place if you like cars, engines, and things with gears. They keep the balance with period clothing so if this place sounds like a visit to a parking lot, its not. There really is something to catch most peoples imagination. Do ask the staff questions they know most of the answers and want to share it. Bonus, lots of Alaska history to be found here.

We had a lets choose something right in Fairbanks moment and happen to select this place. And wow - what a lucky find and very unexpected since we were there on a nature photo trip. We pulled up to the parking lot on a snowy Feb day and expected to make a 30 - 45 minute visit, then hit the road again. Not a chance - the minute we entered and saw what an amazing place this was, we were hooked. Im going to post pictures but they dont even come close to replicating the feeling of being there among all that history. Standing next to these beauties cant be felt in pictures. We closed the place, spoke to the owners and observed some work in progress. This has to be a stop if you are in the area. What an automotive and history gem.

An exquisite antique car museum in Fairbanks! If you are an antique car enthusiast, or simply appreciate a wonderful collection of amazingly curated history - this place is 100% worth the visit! You dont have to love cars to appreciate the incredible restoration of these antique cars, the history of American car manufacturing and fashion of days gone-by. Truly a wonderful museum for all ages. Its worth every penny to see the unbelievable ingenuity of American car manufacturers from over a century ago. And its in Fairbanks! Even if youre not a car zealot, this is still definitely a must see! Nice people, too. Dont think about - just go!!

Lovely, at times overwhelming collection of gorgeous antique beautifully restored cars! Im not much of a car enthusiast but reading about each model on display was fun, informative and interesting. You see how there were small tweeks through the years, and yet, the difference between an 1890 and a 1930 car was staggering. Add in the costumes from the same period, stations with small movies about travel and vehicles in Alaska in the early 1900s and the opportunity to costume up for a photo with an antique, this museum is a definite 5 stars. We were lucky that we were here on Sunday as its only open on Wednesday and Sunday in the winters. Woohoo!! If you have the opportunity check it out. Admission is $12 per person.

Our group of 5 consisted of a 13 year old boy, his father (me) and mother, and his (2) 74-year old grandparents; so a broad range of ages. Only one of us knew anything about vintage cars, and we went mostly for him.Just like our visit to Gold Daughters (separate review), this place ended up being a real hit with everyone in the group, regardless of preconceived notions or expectations. The cars were just amazing and in some instances surprising. A magnetic / electric / gas triple-hybrid from the early 1900’s?!?! Yes!.~70 beautifully restored cars (out of a collection of 90+) housed in an immaculate show room with excellent information on every single car. Just as amazing as the cars were the vintage outfits everywhere you looked. Someone highly interested in early 20th century fashion would probably not even notice the cars, and vice-versa - but I appreciated all of it together. A lot of Alaska specific information peppered throughout the museum was fascinating; including early models of skimobiles and snowmobiles. Excellent vintage photographs blown up larger than posters hanging on the walls. A window to the garage where restoration work might occur. Couches all around for comfortable seating when tired. So many details here that I won’t be able to hit them all. Just a wonderful visit for all of us. Nate was the one who greeted us, answered questions throughout, and sent us on our way feeling well-cared for. None of us regretted the 2 hours spent at this excellent museum; and all of us were blown away that rare pieces of vintage automobiles could be found in Fairbanks, Alaska!

We enjoyed dressing up and taking photos with the cars, as well as speaking with the super-nice lady at the welcome desk. The only thing that would make this museum better would be a live-person guided tour. There are obviously a lot of people who put their heart and soul into making this museum as wonderful as it is, I want to hear the stories from their perspective and ask them questions. When we were at the museum noone was available to answer difficult questions about the cars but luckily the lady at the front desk had a collection of frequently asked questions and answers to provide us.

This is as it says in another review is .. one of the best kept secrets of Fairbanks Alaska. What a wonderfully informative truly enjoyable day I had. Ive never been to an automobile museum before and probably never would have visited one. Im glad that the opportunity arose to visit Fountainhead and Im so happy that I did. I like cars but this place wasnt just about the cars, it was so much more.. so much extra information to see and learn.. from the dresses and posters of that particular era to the personal stories about a said car or model of that car. Everything about the museum grabs you.. as you walk in your almost whisked off into a different time and a different era. The timeless elegance of these cars has been preserved and not just preserved but actually kept in working order. For these cars as I was informed by a very knowledgeable and friendly staff member dont just sit cordoned off never to move or start again. These cars are moved about and taken out on the adjoining car park for test runs and what fun that must be for the lucky driver. Had such a great time and whether a car fan or not this place has I think a little something for everyone.. mums dads and kids alike.. and at the entrance price its a bargain. 10/10 from me.
