This is another one of Central Floridas hidden gems. An easy one mile paddle down Blackwater Creek takes you to Lake Norris. I typically dont enjoy kayaking on big lakes, the full sun and stronger winds can be unpleasant on open water and there is typically less wildlife than you would see on rivers and creeks. Lake Norris is a pleasant surprise, the dwarf cypress trees that circle around the lake are beautiful and fun to paddle through.
Great bike ride with a gorgeous woman in a beautiful setting well maintained roads for mountain bike ridding
A truly untouched bit of Florida I so enjoyed our kayak group paddling through the ancient Cypress Groves
Nice place to visit.
We were on a pontoon boat, saw the place on a beautiful day. Recommended if you are into Nature.
The real wild Florida! If you want to experience what Florida would have looked like hundreds or thousands years ago this is your place. Bring bug spray and sun screen plenty of water and your sense of adventure! This place definitely brings the explorer in all of us.
Quiet, unspoilt.
Nice park and a great place to have some quality time with the family. Liked the facilities and the organization. Just one hour from my home and it’s a great place to go in the weekends. My wife loved too!
This place has it all! Hiking, fishing, kayaking, and much more. Plus its never crowded because of its location.
Black water Creek was a beautiful paddle and lake Norris was Serene and calm as glass. Perfect day! Loved it... Mid moderate skill level going through the creek.
I love this place!
Lots of fireflies approx. 30 minutes after sunset. Easy walk.
This conservation area is really a unique gem in Florida. It has well maintained and labeled horse trails with excellent footing and a variety of flora and fauna to look at. Highly recommend as an equestrian trail.
What a magnificent adventure to wade alongside the crystal clear waters. Lets keep it liter free!!
Quiet peaceful place. Access for canoes & kayaks to Lake Norris about a 30 minute paddle but difficult in low water. Horse Trails and walking paths. Very limited rough camping accessible by hiking only.
Good place to kayak
Good donut spot
My girlfriend and I took a short ride from Apopka via picking a spot on the GPS and checking it out. What a great find! For those of us who like to camp and hike, this is a wonderful secluded area of Lake County. The campsite is by reservation only which means its yours to enjoy for a short stay. Canoes can also be reserved too. There are lots of trails and a nice parking area right at the entrance. Maps are at the parking lot kiosk. This is why we live in Central Florida!
This is a new addition to the Lake County conservation areas. A section of it used to be an old sand mine / borrow pit and some is still used for cattle grazing. Much of the hiking trails are along the open fields or at the edge of the tree-line. Only a few short portions are in the deeply wooded area so bring a hat or sunscreen. The true gem of this area is the Backwater Creek run into lake Norris. This is a kayak and canoe dream run. Its about a mile paddle upstream to Lake Norris where its filled with cypress trees and great wildlife. The park has a single primitive campsite and several canoes that can be used by reservation only. A very cool, hidden gem in Lake County.
I didnt get to see it, the canal to the lake was blocked off I was in my kayak
Great for hiking and small bike trail
