We came here to go geocaching. The trails are very nice, well maintained, and interesting. There is a nice boardwalk down to the lake where there is a covered seating area along the way, and a dock with picnic tables over the lake.Along the way are numbered pieces of wood. There is a guide at the learning center that explains what is located at each number. There is a nice screened patio with picnic tables at the parking area as well as tables right near the entrance.Work is being done on the learning center where there are very clean restrooms, extremely nice people, and a very friendly dog (Mandy). We still have some geocaches to find which means we will be back. There are plans to add a lot to this preserve. Please donate when you visit.

Multiple very shaded trails, well kept boardwalks and walkways over marshy portions of the trails.Did not partake in any of the buildings, so I cant say what they offer. Nice shelter overlooking the lake at the end of one of the trails.Did not see any wildlife during this visit, other than the usual lizards and the couple of caged animal exhibits at the entrance.

This is a great place. There is a nice visitor center with cool exhibits. The hiking trails are well marked and scenic. There are some cool boardwalks and a great overlook of a lake. We saw a huge alligator just a few feet away from the boardwalk along with tons of birds. The grandfather oak is very impressive. Definitely a great place a quick, family friendly hike.

Fantastic place. Lots of very small trails, so if you dont have a lot of time you can still do some hiking. If you have more time you just do all the trails and you can get over a mile. Trails were well maintained and easy to follow. Trails are well marked. No traditional blazes but they have the occasional red arrow painted on a tree in some areas. Again, the trails are short so getting lost is unlikely but its good to have things marked anyway. There are.maps available to give you a full view of the trails. There is a lovely walkout to Trout Lake. They have an educational center. A few picnic tables for lunching. This is a nice park

Another central Florida gem. We went for a guided, morning bird watching hike. The volunteers were incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming, and patient with our boys. Even our dog was welcomed warmly on the hike. Their event schedule has many different events covering all kinds of nature themed topics. The main hall has excellent displays with lots of educational and interesting information about different native and some non-native plants and animals. There is a water fountain and clean bathrooms in that building as well. There is another building which has a museum, but we didnt get to check it out. The hike began on time and they even had multiple bottles of insect repellent for guests in case you forgot your own. The hike was so fun and the view from the dock of the sun rising over the lake and rookery was simply lovely! Afterward, we did some hiking on our own. There are a few different trails. The three we did were beautiful and lots of fun. The kids Adventure Trail was my boys favorite as it has a (slightly) wobbly bridge. It ends at a huge and gorgeous old oak tree. All the trails, bridges, and boardwalks we went through are in great shape. We were smitten and will be going back soon!

Such a lovely place to take the kids and dogs as well. The museum with Florida animals is so educational for the kids and adults alike. There is no cost but donations keep them up and running. Somewhere to take the kids thats in-expensive and we can all afford a donation. Wonderful place.

We had a wonderful time there, it was peaceful and quiet and beautiful, and the staff were very kind. We really enjoyed walking the paths. I would give it 5 stars for myself, except I have to admit that not everyone would find it so. Its small and while we loved it, it wont have enough to keep people active if they are looking for something really engaging.

They have two large air conditioned exhibit buildings with restrooms. The 200+ acres are serene and natural. They are presently seeking donations to expand their educational facilities, so please consider helping with this endeavor. This was my first time visit, but will not be my last.
