I live down the street from this little gem, and had NO IDEA that it even existed until I was required to pay a visit for a college class I was taking. The animals were amazing and you get to have an up close intimate view with them. My fav were the little monkeys (who were a trip, LOL)! Also, the entry price is low, and a nice affordable outing for a large family.

As good as it can get without going into the wild! Breathtaking views, and amazing echo system, combined with great commentaries from the guide, and a driver so you can focus on the views and taking pictures. I think the ride was about 30 minutes long or so. Do not miss!

This is the tram safari included in the normal ticket without any extra payment. Of course, if you would like to have an extra experience, then you can select more advanced safari ticket plan. In my case, we like to see wild animals without so many interference. Happy to see they are healthy and seem happy under the vets care.

Maura was our tram guide. She was so knowledgeable and compassionate about the animals. Her voice was extremely soothing so my friend who is critical of everyone and everything enjoyed the entire ride. She shared with us so many amazing facts about each of the animals their personal situations and how we could help. What a great tour. This was my favorite part of my entire day there at the San Diego wild animal park. Im thinking of buying a season pass now because I enjoyed it so much. The tram is clean and comfortable.

An excellent way to see a lot of animals without much walking.

Driver was knowledgable and the ride was enjoyable. Nice and shaded car! Saw loads of herd animals and even the elusive black rhino!

The Africa tram takes you around in a little train around a big open area of the park where you can see animals in their habitat. I would suggest taking it early as there won’t be long lines and it will give you more time to see the other parts of the park and shows. The best seating is the one on the driver’s side as most of the animals are within the inner circle. You can see giraffes, birds, and antelopes. The ride takes around 45 minutes. You get amazing views of the landscapes and mountains. The animals are seen far away so take a good camera with zoom for the best pictures. It’s worth the ride to take to see animals out in the open.

A very enjoyable 25 minute narrated ride through areas of Safari Park that you cant get to when walking.

I love this park, this tram ride and the tour of the large mixed enclosure is the prime reason why this SD park deserves so much support. In an effort to balance both preservation of both local and world wide biodiversity, the philosophy here encourages visitors of all sorts to see animals in a more natural habitat. Its a beautiful park and the tram is a great way to see a good portion of it.

So lucky to have this in my backyard as a San Diego native. The large free range area is nice for the animals and people alike. Make sure to put on sunscreen and wear your walking shoes. There are hills and in the summer it can be hot. Have fun!

This is a must do attraction at the park. Its completely free and its one of the most amazing parks of the Safari park. You get to see rhinos, giraffes, and buffalo. The wait was very short when we went. The driver was a masters student in zoology and was very knowledgeable about the animals.

This ride comes free (now?) with Safari Park admission. Went at the end of the day and got to see a lot of elusive animals. Beautiful experience. Gives you an idea of the role the zoo and safari park play in conservation.

Africa tram is really great tour. But I didnt like the people managing the queue on a busy day. They may be good in taking care of the animals but the people management is really lacking on the day when it is really needed!!When I visited the Safari Park, last year December(2017) on a long weekend the park was packed with visitors. My main target was to do the African tram and the Cheetah run. We reached the park in the afternoon and got in the African tram queue by 12:15 PM. The wait time as shown in the board was 90 minutes. But we ended up boarding the tram on at 2.50PM. It was a horrible management by the team out there. More than 1 hour of unaccounted wait time. Totally misleading. I knew the proper time, I could have gone for other attractions instead but this wrong information totally ate my time and money. The staffs managing the line were useless and hardly informed the people that for smaller groups we can go to another line (for singles and two people group). They were more busy with making money by taking photographs instead of informing people properly. At 2.30PM, we were like only 10 people away from the first to board - when all of a sudden we see that they kept on filling 3 buses, one after the other, with people from a totally different line - probably priority people and singles and 2 people groups. This got us delayed by at least 20 more minutes and it was so annoying. They were not even informing any body of what is happening and they seemed to be totally careless about it. This totally ruined our plan to be close to Cheetah at the CHeetah run, because by the time thiis tour ended, the cheetah run had already started at 3.30. My girlfriend and me got only a slit of space in between 5-6 people to see the cheetah run. Worst line management ever!!The low stars are mostly for the overall experience for the Africa tram tour starting from being in the queue.
