Was stressed out and took a day to clear my mind. Lazy afternoon, late in the season. Not much to do, drove down here on a whim. No one around, literally no one in sight (it is Covid season after all). Walked out on a pier and sat down. Next thing I know Im laid out on the pier, drifting off to the soft sound of lapping water and the subtle shifting of the floating pier beneath me. I sleep for maybe an hour. I wake up, still alone, troubles gone, totally refreshed. Best hour Ive ever spent. Have no idea what this place is like in normal times wroth kayaks and whatnot, but the peace and quiet, the scenery, the gentle water - that alone will, bring me back.

It was a quiet afternoon trying fishing with a young daughter. We werent alone but far from crowded. No fish but enjoyed the peaceful time.

I called up one day prior visiting, they confirmed they are open for boating but it was extremely limited service for boating, I paid $7 for parking I was visiting with family.This is the offer: rent one boat of 4 occupant maximum for $130 one day unlimited?For me it doesn’t make sense specially when I visit with family.We return back, because if we rent more than 1 boat then kids couldn’t operate another one.Not recommended for boating with family and kids.

My girlfriend said it’s like heaven so I would recommend visiting this beautiful peace of nature. Be careful, you will be ticketed if you don’t pay for parking. All the rules are strictly enforced.

Beautiful lake with forest walks and views. Lots of people fishing, but plenty of hidden and secluded areas. Ample parking (paid upon entry). Many waterfowl (ducks, geese, and even swans).

They had a cleaning table for fisherman. A playground for the little ones. Boat docks around the lake to dock and go explore if you want. Pretty cool place

We went on a Monday so there was almost no one else there. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of nature. We saw wild turkeys, Canadian geese, turkey buzzards and even a pelican! The picnic area has covered and open tables which have BBQ grills. You can reserve a picnic area. The restroom was clean. Paid $7 for parking fee. There is no disabled parking spaces. You can rent boats, dont know cost as we didnt do that. You can fish here. There is a visitors center and Cafe. My dog was welcome on her leash. I wouldnt recommend here on a busy day like weekend or holiday as parking is very limited.

My husband went fishing here. It has a small beach. As far as walking around with your fur baby its alright, its really for fishing. There are more parts to this area.

Cool place. Was a bit crowded when I was there but it was really fun. Went for cousins birthday and we got to go on a small boat on the lake and got some cool pictures of the place.

Beautiful Place, fishing, feels remote in a very busy area, I believe it was $6 to park with a day pass to fish - you must also have your regular fishing licence from department of fish and Wildlife (I dont think theyre available here), in advance to acquire the day licence here to fish legally.I hit a Safeway about six miles south of the lake to pick up supplies and also noticed a Starbucks there. I came up from San Jose early on a Sunday and it took about an hour, and was very easy to get to. Be aware that the reservoir closes for the season in December and reopens in February , call the boat launch for exact dates and hours.

Great place to go to fish and wildlife. Recreational areas where clean and so was the fishing banks.

Friendly staff, well stocked lake with great trout, the rental boats are awesome. The layout always for trolling, bait fishing, and exploring. A piece of heaven on earth. Grandson and I had a blast last Saturday and hit some beautiful trout

This is a nice national Park. Paid 7 dollars to get into the parking area. Parking is available but is packed on busy days. Handicap spots will still be available. On a crowded day there are many families setting up canopies and BBQs. There is a childrens playground on site. You can rent boat rides here as well- at the on- site store. Well maintained bathrooms are also available. There is docking for boats if you decide to bring your own. I tried to fish here along with others, but couldnt seem to catch any. Grassy fields all about if you just want to pitch a blanket. There is also an area around on the other side where you can park and fish. It is a windy area even on sunny days, but the view is amazing, very relaxing. Good day spot, but I wouldnt recommend night unless you have a bond fire or BBQ.

We went there for boating with family all the way 40 miles but they had no options .Poor service provide, not recommended for boating with family .

Unfortunately it is closed now but you can get a good view from Kennedy Grove. The reservoir looks like a worm on a string :)

Party barge rental was perfect for a day relaxing and fishing. Would recommend bringing a cooler with ice, sandwiches, and water so you can spend the whole day having a blast. A+++

Not a great place for hiking but unique in that they have a boat rental and places for a picnic. They also sell tackle at the cafe. Parking is pretty pricey though at $7.

This place is awesome for family functions. On the river the grass is beautiful its ideal for a great outdoor barbecue.

Decent park plenty of trails to walk, lots of activities for the whole family, boat rentals, fishing, fish cleaning station, playground, bbq grills, grassy field, small store with basic fishing supplies and other odds and ends, boat launch just up the road.

Minus the fact that fishing was scarce due to the massive amounts of otters present we had a good time. The guy that manages the rentals down on the dock seemed a bit mad though. Maybe it was too early

We visited on graduation weekend. There were a few parties going on. Everyone seemed to be having a fun time. We didnt know what to expect. Next time will pack a picnic lunch and stay longer. They have a playground. People seemed to be having fun fishing. I believe leased dogs are welcome.

We went to San Pablo reservoir just to know whats around our new place and had a beautiful surprise after we arrived there. Is a really place for a picnic, to have a bbq, take kids to the cute play ground, see the ducks passing by, etc. Is a place that will become our spot when trying to get some fresh air and to spend some quality family time

Very lovely views of the tree-covered surrounding hills, helpful staff, lots of boating options, food and drink, a great picnic area, and diverse, interesting bird life, make this a great day out for the family.

Fun place to kayak or canoe, stay is friendly, and the place is beautiful. Go on a week day if you want to feel like you have the whole place to yourself.

Good for a picnic with kids, not great if you’re looking for a place to quietly enjoy the sun on a hot day. (no sand, lots of goose poop, can’t go in the water, pretty crowded with lots of families and kids)

It is astounding that this place has the score it does. Today, between parking, launching a kayak and fishing it cost $22 for the trip. It was $7 to park, $10 to inspect my kayak for Quaga Mussels (free outside of EBMUD and the form can be found free online, FYI) and $5 for a fishing permit (fishing license separate of course). Not sure where the money goes, the bathrooms are gross (see pics) and its awquardly crowded. Lesson learned.

I like this place and we frequent this place, but the cashier was so unprofessional (8/4/2019 3:30pm). Experienced the worst customer service. I never see rude customer service like that any business place, bad experience. I will never ever come back again this place, its awful how they treat customer like that, unwelcome and so rude be careful all the toys are mostly broken or seems like second hand, after you purchase and if it doesn’t work they don’t exchange it.

A great place to picnic and fish. Lots of families were there enjoying the nice weather. Lots of parking and plenty of picnic spots with grills and tables, all with great views of the reservoir.

Very nice place for group BBQ with many options of other activities: water sports are a must! Remember that swimming is not allow. Canoa, kayak, motorboat... Bring your ball (soccer, volleyball) or Frisbee... Definitely week days are less crowded.

They Dont treat there employees well. But its not a bad fishing spot.

Ive been coming here for decades. Use to come fishing a lot, have rented boats which are a good deal, used picnic area which is very nice, right on water. All away from the main road, giving you a feel of being away from town. Lots of birds and scenery.

Very nice place for fishing and relax. Beware though that parking is not free. Boat prices are relatively cheap. Also the lake is stocked periodically. Different times in a year you can catch different types of fish there.If you know how to fishing its pretty much guaranteed youll catch something.
