The Childrens Garden is a wonderful place to spend a few hours getting away from the reality of the world. I love to stop by on weekends early in the morning and look at the world through a childs eye. You can go over the bridge or play in the sand. Or walk over the chime grid and enjoy the simplicity of being a child for a few minutes. If you have children this is a great place to teach your family about all the beautiful plants that can be grown in our terrific state. I have spent many hours when my children were growing up taking pictures and laughing with my kids over the simplicity of this wonderful oasis. Find the time to grab someone and make some your own special memories.
Hit this place between ice hockey practices. What a great little park...15 yr old girls had fun and so did the adults. Very well designed and maintained. Especially like the mason bee houses!
I have never been here before and didnt even know it existed! Found it by accident while looking for the butterfly house at MSU. Wow! I could post a bazillion pictures, but I wont We were there in late August. More butterflies than Ive ever seen in one place! And hummingbirds were everywhere! It was great!
Great place to take the kids to get a few of their wiggles out. Masks on!
Wonderful place to take kids showing the nature and its progress.
Unique and lovely place, kids love it, and it connects to the larger horticultural gardens at MSU - which are terrific
A magical place to walk through & to experience a lot.
Very cool place for the local kids. So many learning opportunities. The staff here are so very nice and patient.
An inspired place to take a child... or yourself. The first.. or one of the first childrens gardens in the US, it was the brain child of creative woman who has since been invited to create childrens gardens in a number of foreign countries. Lots of activities and theme gardens... created both by garden sponsors, 4H clubs, and corporations.
Well maintained with fun exhibits for children
Nice little garden. Right by the other ones too, so its easy to look at all 3
Nicely done colorful place
What a hidden gem! A tiny hedge maze, an ampitheater, a story walk, lots of cool plants including one that smells like popcorn, a beautiful bride under a weeping willow ...And the details are all there. For example at first you just notice the colorful crayon shaped posts on the fence. Upon closer inspection, youll see that the name of each crayon is a flower that matches the color. And then youll notice that the same flower is planted at the base of each respective post.Throughout the garden there are well tended details like that which really elevate the experience. This isnt a cheaply thrown-together thing. This is well thought out and cared for, and it shows.
My son had a field trip here, it was my first time. The kids seemed to love it, and the guides were super kid friendly. Overall a great experience and a beautiful garden. I would recommend it to friends and family to take their kids to as well.
My little family loved this place this past summer. Well maintained gatdens, public clean restrooms, sandbox, a storywalk, and tons of identified plants to see and explore! You have to pay to park and cant pick any of the produce which can be disappointing to some kiddos. Overall very fun!
I absolutely love this place! I was there 3 times this past week and its so relaxing, beautiful and a great place to take photos, picnic or spend time with someone! ️
One of my grandchildrens favorite places. The gardens are beautiful and the theme days are loads of fun. Be aware that the parking lot will be closed this summer due to construction. I have been advised to park at the Wharton Center.
I love this place. Peaceful and fun. Very child friendly
Great place to take children for a picnic, and the MSU dairy store is only a 10 minutes walk away.
Got married right next to this garden. We bring our son here from time to time and he loves it so much he cries when we leave. It seems like a few things arent really working like they used to, thats the only reason I gave it four instead of five stars
Took my son to the childrens garden, he had a great time. It is too early in the season for any real flowers, there were a few sprouts poking out here and there. There is a stage area where I assume there are events although I have never seen it in use. Numerous structures and small things to play on.
This is such a great place to go to anytime of the year because it has different Beauty for different seasons and even different times of the day! A little something for everyone and you cant help but feel good and have a sense of peace as you walk through, hearing Birds, Herring fountains, seeing the beautiful colors and various types of plants. Hats off to those who takes a beautiful care of the gardens!
Beautiful! so much fun!!
This was so much fun to watch our grandchildren enjoy the butterflies landing on their fingers. It was a very fun time.
Beautiful
Nice place to play and go for a little walk. There are several activities and play areas for all ages.
Lots of fun and my kids enjoyed the activities like the frog gate and bridge!
Beautiful kids garden! Near butterfly garden on MSU campus. There is an unfenced pond, so keep an eye out.
Amazing place to visit
Beautiful place
Great place to bring the family. Beautiful and well kept.
Pretty cool place to explore with young kids! Absolutely stunning garden in the summer. You may even find the occasional plant scientist or get in contact with MSU and the labs if you have questions. They are eager to meet. Look out for the kid-oriented annual Fascination of Plants Day - usually around the 2nd weekend of May. This year on May 18 at the EL Arts Fest and the MSU Broad Art Lab!
A nice place to take younger kids in the summer and warmer weather generally. Parking is a bit of a pain during MSU school sessions. Check out the butterfly garden nearby.
They have not kept this garden up. Weeds, none of the fountains worked, broken benches. Really disappointed
The entrance is separated from the main garden, cute and a nice walk.
It is winter now and parked here the other day but have been here multiple times before. Very cool for kids.
Very nice. Great for families and kids
Absolutely wonderful day! Bought plants at MSU plant sale! Great Christmas gifts and ideas! Volunteers were very helpful!
Im there all the time... Great place to visit, bring a lunch, play, volunteer....
Great childrens garden! Bring the kids and a camera!
I love the park, but it could use a little updating.
Kids had fun and I got some great pics
Loved the Childrens Gardens! So great to have such a beautiful place that is geared toward teaching children.
I have enjoyed taking my children, and now my grandchildren here since the childrens garden was first built.
Had a great time with my daughters.
Beautiful place for families. A must visit at MSU.
Great place for young ones feildtrip. Easy to get to and good parking .
Very cute little garden in the MSU area.
This place was horrible, my husband is a horticulturist and the plants have aphids and other bugs, the plants were dry and need to be dead headed... the butterflys exhibit was terrible, Im so glad we didnt have to pay for that 5 minute look!! We wont be back
Nice place to spend couple of hours with kids. Lots of inviting plants and flowers
We love it here. Both my husband and are are alumni and we love bringing the kids. Its a fun and relaxing place. The aqua bridge is our favorite.
Very cute place to visit, neat concept. But this has become less childrens gardens over the years. The climber that used to exist is gone now, which is very disappointing.
Beautiful I took the whole family with me and my toddler definitely enjoyed walking through landscape that were his size
Such a beautiful place and my children have so much fun running and exploring all there is to offer!
This place is absolutely beautiful in fall, sadly all the flowers where wilting but still a lovely garden!
I took my young daughter there and we absolutely loved it. Simply gorgeous. My only regret is not going earlier in the summer. The tiny train garden kept my daughter fascinated for a half hour. I hope all families take their children there at least once. We spent an hour and a half there no problem. We only lieft because I forgot a sippy cup with water. We could have easily spent 2-3 hours walking around and playing.
This place is pretty cool, we were early in the growing season but a lot to see and start learning about.
Excellent child oriented garden environment. It makes learning about plants a fun adventure!!
My nieces loved the garden. Many different areas to explore.
Very knowledgeable teachers and beautiful grounds!
Unbelievably beautiful gardens! Very nice stop on our visit of Lansing. Kids had a great time.
Nice Garden they do a lot of work in there flowers are nice I went there playing a game Ingress
I like to relax here in the spring after a long day of classes. The gardens and play areas are well-kept. Seems to be a fun spot for families.
Great place for photo ops! We go every year for pics.
An amazing place for photoshoots!
Grandbaby loved it
Beautiful child friendly place. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
We LOVE spending time here. The childrens garden is ALWAYS charming, and the flowers in the botanical gardens are a visual treat no matter what time of the year!
The Pizza Garden and the Alphabet Gardens are just two of the innovative themes at the 4-H garden. Great place to spend an hour and 25 minutes. ( ran out of meter time lol)
My husband and I were married there on 8/8/08 .. Its was beautiful and inexpensive.
Very beautiful lively gardens. Nice place to walk. There are also a couple pokestops and a gym.
Cool place for kids, has a nice little garden and a small play area and pond and if youre in to Pokemon Go it has a ton of poke stops and gyms.
I just visited here briefly, but it is an educational garden that would be perfect for young children. Convenient parking and a manageable size make it a good quick trip for families.
Free parking on weekends. The 4 H Childrens Garden is part of the MSU Horticultural Gardens. An enchanting garden for children of all ages, with koi ponds with bubblers, musical tic-tac-toe chimes, a hedge maze, foot bridges and much more. All plantings are beautifully maintained and are clearly labeled.
Beautiful garden at MSU. Picturesque spot for families. Many people have weddings and celebrations in the large, adjacent garden. Free parking on the weekends.
Great place to walk around & relax
What an amazing place! A combination playground, botanical garden, and place to take a peaceful and leisurely stroll. It is also adjacent to an entire compound of different gardens also affiliated with MSU. And you cant neglect to mention that it may be the best location on campus for Pokémon Go, with about 15 Pokéstops and 2 gyms.
My son loved the butterfly garden
Cute gardens
Very pretty place to walk around with kids , plenty of hands-on things to entertain them and neat plants to see
Wonderful time. Educational and beautiful!
Cool garden. Most things are labeled so you can learn about the plants.
A delightful and beautiful place
A really neat garden, a good mix between an academic garden and a childrens playground. Being your kids!
A great garden to discover new plants in, and a nice place to take a walk.
