This was such a fun adventure! We took the two-hour trip. My three children kayaked while my husband and I rafted. Caleb was our guide, and he was excellent and kept us laughing with his reserve of jokes. We wish we had time to do it again!

Nice guy, but dont go to Alpine Pass using their cars as the car will be too dirty and you have to pay extra $85. Yes it was dirty, but I said what Id do with the car. Use a quad instead. It seems this Jeep is only good for clean asphalt. Asked for top down, got half the top off instead. That seemed to be a problem too that I took that off. Watch the Rockies in ACd car? Might as well get COVID and do this via Zoom.

This was our family’s first time to whitewater rafting. The booking process was easy and everything went as advertised. We booked the 4 hour trip. Our guide was Shawn who was awesome. He was very professional and did an outstanding job taking us down the river making our trip so much fun! Great job!! Our lunch was BBQ from Serious Texas BBQ which we enjoyed about 1/2 way through the trip. Their food was wonderful and plenty of it too. At the end our youngest got in some swim time. When we return, we will definitely be using Southwest Rafting again!! Thanks, guys!!

What a great experience and the service was 100% the best! We were in town for one day and looking for something to do in the afternoon. Southwest Raft and Jeep took our call had us in a raft with the most amazing guide Chewy within a couple of hours. The river was great, our guide was phenomenal and back at the shop they were so kind and professional. Dont look anywhere else for rafting in Durango. These guys are the best!

Our family had a great time on the two-hour rafting trip! We had two 7 year olds and a 9 y.o. who were absolutely thrilled with the whole experience. Everyone had a paddle and felt like a part of the team. Our guide Cameron was knowledgeable and experienced, and full of corny jokes that had the kids laughing. Even in the summer (lower water levels), we had plenty of white water and were soaked by the end. Will definitely book this trip next time were in town!

We did the 4 hour trip and the experience was awesome! The lunch stop in the middle was delicious and allowed for the perfect break in the action. Our guide Andy, was very personable and made the trip really fun! He also gave us tons of recommendations of places to eat and things to do in and around Durango and his recommendations were spot on! Not only did we have a great time rafting, but we alsogot a chance to pick the brain of a local for other great things to do! Would definitely recommend making this one of your first stops while visiting the city!

We came over 4th of July weekend (2020) with a group of 15. Only 2 of us had been rafting before. We had a blast! Our guides were awesome, fun, entertaining, and made the rafting even more fun! We had a great time rafting with these guys, one of the highlights of our trip! The river was flowing good because of the recent rains. Elijah is absolutely amazing as a river guide and made the trip fun and exciting. Definitely do this while in Durango and use southwest rafting, very laid back and easygoing.

We had young kids (age 6, 7 and 8) on our trip and this was perfect for them. Our guide Cameron was attentive to how the kids were doing and was full of ‘dad jokes’ for the kids and history of the town and area. A great experience- definitely ask for Cameron for a great family experience. My kids all want to do the 4 hr one next time.

The river was fairly calm, not too many rapids, but it was perfect for our family. We also went mid July, so the water was lower in general. The kids loved that there was a part when they could get in the river and swim. The enjoyed helping to paddle. Our guide was knowledgeable and funny.The barbeque lunch that goes along with 4 hour trip was so very tasty! Everyone gets $8 plus a drink to spend at the restaurant....its right off the side of the river too.Great experience!Oh and you can buy a usb drive with pictures they took of all the groups for $35. They took a bunch of pictures too. Very pleased with the quality.

I had an awesome 4 hour trip with my wife and two sons (6 &13), in the duckies (inflatable kayaks). Zach and Tyler were great. We would absolutely do this again. We had the option of allowing our 6 year-old to walk around the white water section, or go in the big raft with Zach. He chose to run the rapids with us (in my wifes duckie), and it was the best part if our Colorado trip so far. I saw a review complaining about a boat flipping, and kids being cold, etc. This is obviously part of the deal. If you dont want to get wet or possibly cold, dont go on a raft trip! Also, since its the covid-19 era, Zach and Tyler made sure everyone wore masks when necessary and washed hands at the awesome BBQ lunch (get the pork taco). Totally worth it.

A week ago today, my son and I reserved a package twelve line zip line in the morning and two hour raft trip in the early afternoon. We both enjoyed that day immensely. We had Boggs and David as our zip line guides, and they could not have been more polite, caring, careful, considerate and funny. They are both very experienced and obviously enjoy what they do. David and Caleb (Rafting Instructor) are both currently in college and majoring in and studying the business of adventure trips for the public, so they really want to succeed in this field. The girl (Nicole? I am sorry I forgot her name), that registered us in the store was very happy, helpful and friendly as were all of the workers with Southwest. David and Boggs were sure to keep everyone safe and have an enjoyable adventure for all eleven of us. The other members in our group also really enjoyed the zip line adventure. Then we were with completely different people for the white water rafting. The bus driver (Marjorie?) was very good. It is hard enough to drive a bus full of people, but to back up with a trailer and pinpoint it on first try is skillful. Caleb was very friendly on the bus ride and obviously excited about his job. We had the pleasure of having Elijah as our boat guide. He was friendly, and told great jokes, while ensuring that the seven of us had a safe and fun trip. He was skillful at telling us when to paddle and was careful to steer us while avoiding protruding rocks. Thank you for a memorable day. We are really happy with our day on 7/8/2020, and hope that you recognize your exceptional employees.

We had so much fun tubing. We didnt reserve ahead but easily rented two tubes and booties. Staff was friendly and answered our questions. Little confusing where to get out of the river. Make sure to bring a dollar each for the trolley. We forgot and walked about a half hour back.

Had a great experience buying my rooftop tent from these guys. I ordered a 23Zero Walkabout from them last April and they helped me through it from start to finish!I must’ve called Troy 10 different times leading up to my arrival in Durango and every time he was knowledgeable and patient with all my dumb questions. He also helped me pick out the right rack system to support the tent, and performed the installation.I’ve used the tent numerous times now over the course of a 1,000 mile roadtrip to CA and only have good things to say about the product and install.I can only speak to their knowledge of camping and outdoor accessories, but I’m sure all other aspects of their business are on point based on my experience.If you’re wondering where to go for upgrades on your next adventure this is the place! First and foremost, the owner of southwest raft and jeep is an amazing human. We bought an inflatable kayak off Amazon and had a rough experience. (Seam split on us in the water) after spending roughly $850 dollars we were heartbroken. A couple days later we decided to go and see what southwest had to offer, hoping that we could get something better quality with the refund we got. The owner was incredible. He walked us through the specs of each boat, honestly discussed our options, and listened to all of our questions he was one of the most attentive friendly people Ive dealt with. He went above and beyond to make sure that we were getting exactly what we wanted.Needless to say we left with a boat, paddles, and a dry bag. Bonus: it was a full $150 dollars under our budget.So we immediately took it out to the lake. The aquaglide Chinook tandem performed beautifully on its maiden voyage. Its perfect for our family, and the shopping shopping experience was second to none!I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to pick up any inflatable!

Troy took 7 of us out on the water. Our group included 3 children ages 10, 8, and 6. Our guide Troy made sure that we were able maximize the amount of fun we had while also ensuring our safety. We chose Southwest Raft and Jeep for the barbecue lunch but well choose them again in the future for their excellent service.

Saturday we watched a family flip the raft there was young children on the raft. We were completely disgusted by the fact none of the rafters were properly attended to with first aid after everyone made it back to the bank. There was numerous rafts with their kids freezing, no shoes, Shaken up from the scary event they just endured. We walked with one of the women from the boat who had no shoes her ankle was torn up and the guides just loaded everyone on this bus after a wait for them to get there.

We had a great trip down the river with Jay. He was an amazing tour guide, river guide, and overall friendly personality. He kept it real while keeping us entertained during the lazier parts of the journey. And for my first time rafting, you guys definitely have a great section to take first timers out. I highly recommend this company! Right downtown Durango, friendly, and obviously experienced.

SUP Rentals + 4 Hr. RaftingBeen renting SUPs from this family business for years. Well kept and good quality equip. You jst hav to do your part to keep it that way and avoid fair but justified damage fees.This year we tried their 4 hr. raft trip thru town... Excellent experience.Sean, our guide is engaging and informative on every level and shows great care and concern for his guests, especially the kids. No matter what, the river is wild and can be unpredictable in a split second but I always felt Sean was positioning the raft and communicating clearly with us, the paddlers. I realize I expose my child to risks on the river that are not entirely within the control of anyone but Sean fit the bill in my mind at reducing those risks, but of course not entirely - It’s a white water river w/ rocks. The three kids on our boat had a blast and Sean was well liked and appreciated by all the guests. We enjoyed it so much we’ll do this or the 2 hr. trip again next summer adjacent to the days we rent their Stand Up Paddle Boards. Oh, the Serious Texas BBQ lunch and extra 30-40 min. on the river we really enjoyed and felt it was a well worth it value for the small addl. charge to the 2 hr. rafting option.Southwest is not the largest but they treat each person as a valued customer and individual. They are also more competitively priced and deliver the activities and rentals in an efficient manner. We were off having a great time instead of mired in a bus of 50 people or trapped in a long line in an office processing units rather than people.

We had a great experience here! We had wanted to buy a raft set up for several months and decided to purchase one here. We were pleased with all aspects of the process. Troy was very helpful and accommodating, opening the shop in winter just for us. They gave us a stellar deal on a self bailing raft/ frame/ accessories. The total was far less than what we priced it out to be through other companies. Supporting small business is easy when the customer service and pricing are both superior to anything online. Their knowledge and hospitality make it easy for me to recommend them to anyone for any type of business. I was very impressed with everything about them and will certainly be back anytime in Durango.

I was tasked with putting together a rafting trip for nearly a hundred seniors from a local high school. I had the pleasure of working with Troy, the owner, from the planning to the moment the trip was done, and it was awesome. Prices seemed very affordable & owners knowledgeable.HOWEVER...anyone who requires a service animal should be aware that they will NOT allow you to take them on a jeep rental, citing that someone may be allergic to dogs. Very unwelcome.

Great experience up until the point we had to clean the vehicles...We showed up an hour early with the jeeps cleaned like we were supposed to. It had rained that day while we were on our ride, so there were puddles all around Durango. On our way to return the jeeps, we hit a few puddles and made the jeeps a bit dirty. We got to the place, and they told us they were too dirty. We offered to go back and clean the jeeps, since we were an hour early, but instead they charged us $50 for them to go back and wash them. Beautiful country, jeeps needed taken care of better, and terrible management.

Loved it! What an adventure for our 32 nd anniversary. The two guides were great. I feel like we made new friends. Highest water of the year raised the awe factor. Only four stars cause the van driver told a couple crude immature jokes.

Our tour guide Zac was awesome! So was the staff. They were helpful and flexible to ensure we could get a river tour in during our vacation. It was a last moment activity our family decided to do and the guys at southwest raft and jeep were nice enough to accommodate on a specific time for us.

Cant say enough good things about SWRJ. We rented one of their Wranglers to drive the Alpine Loop, really nice truck. Troy was extremely accommodating and knowledgeable, he gave excellent directions and also allowed us to drop the truck off after hours. Would like to rent a jeep and a few paddle boards next summer to take up to the lakes on Alpine Loop.

It was really fun even though we got stuck in an Eddie we were all very thankful for cam who also saved me from falling out of the raft thank you cam!

We rented a Jeep for the day to drive up to Silverton and go on some trails. The owner (forgot the name, sorry) came out and showed me the ins and outs of the Jeep, we signed some papers, and then we were off on our adventure! There was great communication about what was needed before we got there, which made it all run so smoothly.

Did the two hour lower Animas River trip with Zack as our guide. We had our girls (11 & 13 yo) on the trip and we all had a great trip.

When we first got there all of the guys seemed like someone we would want to hang out with, but in the end all they wanted to do is suck our money out with fines that aren’t needed. (They also forget to tell us that the door rattled and the window didn’t roll down)

Just got back from our tour on the Animas River. Our guide Maddie (sp?) was exceptional. Her ability to guide the raft and our four year old was great. We were nervous at the beginning, but she helped to ease our worries. We ended up turning our two hour tour into the four hour tour. My wife and I cant thank her enough for being so nice. Weve decided that we will be making this an annual trip and experience because of hers and the rest of the staffs great customer service.

Had a blast today with Jarod as a guide and Troy was the best driver. We have been in Durango working for about 3 weeks and we finished today and the boss treated us to rafting. They let us park our truck in front of their shop and kept an eye on our truck with all of our tools. Thank you so much for the great time. Oh, and we got to stop and have bbq for lunch.

Best rafting and jeep outfitter in Durango. Top notch equipment at an affordable price. And did i mention that Troy and all his staff are very knowledgable and informative about all the gear they carry. They actually do their research. I bought a k2 cooler from Southwest Raft and Jeep and 5 days later after a moab excursion it still had ice! They carry non counterbalanced sawyer oars and every kind of special equipment that other stores in town have to order. They also do a stellar rafting trip if thats your style as well. I am overall continually impressed with this company and owners.Edit-- I have since moved out of the Durango area and continue to do business with Southwest Raft and Jeep. They recently mailed me a hyside paddlecat across the country just in time to go abroad and I have found these guys are always the most fair and helpful when buying gear from dryboxes to jeep tents to rafts. I am so grateful for all that youve done for me over the years. Thank you Southwest!!!

Great company in downtown Durango! I bought a RMR Storm from these guys in the spring. First run down the Animas these guys set me up with a guide, a shuttle, and rented gear for a few buddies to tag along. Awesome time, squared away shop, looks like they just started doing outfitting and multiway gear rentals.
