We did the full tour, and were absolutely amazed. We downloaded the self tour app and that really added to the experience. I would recommend researching the Congdon family prior to going. It was interesting to learn where their money came from, and their history so you could relate better touring their home. The architectural details and woodwork, fireplaces, and moldings were so marvelous. The various gardens and fountains were so beautiful. Cant wait for the carriage house to be finished. I thought it was worth the extra money for the full tour, the third floor was great! I heard Robert Congdon had a hockey stick somewhere in the house though, that would have been a very Minnesota thing to display :-)

This place was beautiful! It was such a nice tour. Only reason for only 3 stars instead of full was the beginning not even the beginning of the tour but just to go buy the tickets was confusing. You walk through the stables kind of looking at everything and theres really no signs or anything. There was a tiny little room where you watch a video but again not any signage about that or not big enough to read. There was a group there before us and we had no idea what we were doing so we passed them to go buy our tickets we were looking to do a full mansion tour. When we got to the front the lady was so extremely rude and responded to us by saying yeah they were before you have to help them first. We had no idea we had to watch the video could have been explained better from her side. We ended up going back to watch it and even the people behind us had no idea and tried to go ahead as well. Better signage is needed and better customer service. We ended up only getting the general because of how rude she was kinda turned us off.

Glensheen Mansions history is wonderful to learn about. The stories about the Congdons are fascinating. The artifacts displayed throughout the mansion from the Congdons travels are superb. I loved the gift shop. I bought a book about Glensheen and read more in depth how the house was built a d about the Congdon family. Well worth the money to explore the home and grounds. Plan for at a 3 hour stay.

Loved seeing the Glensheen mansion again. I believe this was our 3rd visit. This time we took the full house tour which included more than just the basement and first and second floors. The full house tour included the 3rd floor and the attic which definitely was worth seeing! Loved seeing the grounds and the gardens and the bridge, etc.

So intriguing, opulent and serene. Great place to come sit by the lake and have a picnic around the fire. The history of Glensheen still mesmerizes visitors. I can’t wait to read the book about the Congdon tragedy “Will to Murder”. Walk around the property and enjoy all the sitting areas. The stalls are amazing too!

The coolest mansion in Duluth. Glensheen is my home away from home (a little nicer than my actual home) and everytime i go through it i fall back in love with the area. So much great history and they put on so many fun events every month that are usually free! I never thought Id be able to hangout in an intertube and listen to live music on lake superior but Glensheen made it happen!

We visited the outdoor garden area only. Staff had masks on but most visitors did not in more congested areas. Overall, the gardens were stunning and well kept. Flowers were in bloom and beautiful. Kids were free so we only needed to pay for adults to enter. There were port a potties by the parking for guests to use. Signs were posted about wearing masks and social distancing as you walked in. Staff was very friendly, courteous, respectful of social distancing, and knowledgeable.

The Glensheen Mansion and grounds are beautiful. Even my 12 and 15 year olds enjoyed it. If your looking for more details about rooms than you can get from the boards in the rooms, check out the app. The stables are well worth exploring, too. That was my daughters favorite. Make sure you take time to walk along the shore of Lake Superior and skip rocks on the creek under the stone arch bridge. Gorgeous fall colors.

Wish we would have had a tour guide. It is a beautiful house and estate. Just wish I would have had more info since we had no clue of the history until we looked it up after we got back to the hotel we stayed at. May have to do another tour sometime and see the entire house. It was amazing.

Im amazed that there is enough funding to keep this place near pristine condition, but just as unexciting as any other heavily guided tour through a single building. Im all for ramping up the excitement or intrigue when I pay money to be entertained. Always a pleasure visiting the Glensheen. I think they should open the whole house for one price. Not charge extra for the 3rd floor and attic. $54 for three of us to tour without 3rd floor and attic. Also no discount for my U of M student daughter because she goes to TC campus not Duluth campus.

Very disappointing. I thought the grounds would’ve been larger. There were tacky inflatable sharks in the only fountain, the flower gardens by the mansion were small because they needed moisture, and boarded up windows on the buildings. Pretty view along the rocky shoreline and the vegetable garden looked well tended to. We didn’t go inside the mansion. I think we spent about an hour there at best.

We did the Gala Party Tour. It was our first time here and it was incredible! All of the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. This tour had access to all of the areas not available on regular tours. It included food and 2 drinks. This was their 1st time doing an authentic Hawaiian Hog Roast using Lake Superior Rocks! It was amazing! We love Duluth and Lake Superior was the calmest weve ever experienced. They had great food and appetizers. And dont forget the shots in the dark that were hidden in random parts of the property. I would come back for this one day a year only event again. The Mansion was breath taking. We took the servants tour in the morning and then the summer evening tour that night. The first tour ended up just being my boyfriend and I with our guide. She was knowledgeable and allowed us time to explore, take photos and ask questions. We got so much out of our tour it was great. Then we spent an hour or so walking around on the grounds. We sat by the lake and just soaked it all up. Later, the Summer Evening Tour guide was phenomenal and we got even more!! We got to see all of the floors, including the attic and the boathouse. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and made the tour enjoyable. Both tour guides took interest in their guests but you could see that they enjoyed their jobs!! This place is STUNNING.
