We did the Pumpkin train. Even as adults without the grandkids we had a great enjoyable ride. The museum 8ncluded with the train ride was a wonderful history lesson to view in person. I could spend hours at the museum and still find things I missed on the next trip

The Duluth Depot is an awesome and historic place to visit for locals and tourists. The summer months are great to visit especially when they have Thomas the Train during the month of August every year, and really cool during the Christmas holiday when they have the Christmas train leaving Fitgers and arriving at the Depot! Plus, the added bonus, the eerie bit awesome spirits that are in the Depot at night I believe as seen on Ghost Hunters on TV.

Very impressed! First off, the ticket agent asked if I might be a veteran, I told him I was. He informed me that happily the policy had been updated and families up to 5 members can visit for no charge when with a veteran. Thank you for that honor! The museum was great! Two teenage girls spent over 2 hours exploring on their own!It rained 5 the day we were there, and we never cared. A great place!

The Duluth depot is a very historic building. It was constructed in approximately 1892 when Duluth was the railway hub of the north. When you go down the stairs (where people went to board the trains) there is a very impressive railroad museum which allows you to go in a variety of different historical railroad cars.

This is a family-friendly museum with LOTS of real trains to look at! The only downside is that there are only a few that you can climb into. But there are many other sites and toys for kids to play with, not to mention the museum itself is simply beautiful. Its definitely a fun stop if youre in the area!

Beautiful, never boring. The trains are, of course, the best part for the kids. Once in a while they move them around, switch out ones that are inside with ones that are outside so you dont see the same things every time. Even if they were always the same though, you could go a dozen times and see something you missed before.

Great place to visit for trains. Lots to see and climb into. Also has train rides and a model trains setup with interactive buttons for automation of train equipment. Has a lot of other history in other areas of the museum. Great old historic building. You have to pay for parking if you park in lot next to the depot.

Had such an amazing time visiting the Duluth Depot! So much history in such a historic location. Youre able to go walking through some of the cars and see how small those areas actually were! The gift shop was also fun and wasnt just full of over priced nonsense. My husband and I will definitely be returning during the summer for one of their Train Ride Shows!!

I went to this museum yesterday with my boyfriend. We spent hours marvelling at the old train cars and the artifacts preserved by the museum. It was truly an incredible experience to view the immigrant waiting room and to read information about what our ancestors experienced on the walls. The museum was really easy to navigate and the gentleman at the front desk was incredibly helpful. Parking is free on Saturday, which was a bonus! I will definitely be going back.

Whether one likes this place will depend on ones interests. I liked the Native American arts and crafts (both traditional and contemporary). My spouse liked the trains. Someone else might like the Finnish frontier cabin/farm exhibit. Duluth is a smallish city that doesnt have a lot of indoor tourist attractions, so visitors should be open-minded about appreciating whats there.

A great place to take the kids! I nerded out at all the displays and history while the kids did the same at all the trains. We spent two hours with no child complaints about time or boredom and the entry fee is really reasonable. If you keep your eyes open for it, there are little hobo signs all over with their meaning, too. A really diverse historical area with a lot of fun for everyone. Try the train up the North Shore, too!

I am an intern at the art institute within the Depot and from what Ive seen the rail museum is one of the most interesting places to go. I havent had much time to visit it but from what Ive seen in passing it seems like a fun place. They dont ever seen to be understaffed and the people working there seem friendly enough. I am only giving four stars because I just dont have enough information to give a better review. The rest of the Depot is also really cool by the way!

Really? 9:15 pm an your trains are blowing horns through lakeside? I guess our little kids should just stay up late so 612ers can just lovw Duluth.Id prefer no trains go through lakeside. Also, can you clear the brush and hill on either side of the tracks so we dont have to drive onto the tracks to see if a train is coming?Pizza train hit a car tonight 8/22/19. I hope no one was hurt. There is no reason a train needs to go through a residential neighborhood.

I really love this place. Theyve got an unbelievable variety of railroad cars: huge steam engines, snowplows, passenger cars, logging cars, wreckers, dining cars, mail cars, a narrow-vague street car. and even President Lincolns funeral car (rebuilt). This place is part Iron Range history, part US history, part golden age of rail nostalgia, and all railroad awesomeness. It is 100% worth the price of admission, and while you *can* see it all in one visit, its pretty tough. Highly recommended!

I enjoy when people complain about the price to enter a Museum. AAA Discount 10% off & for larger groups. It’s expensive to pay the staff & cleaning crew to keep the building openThen the complainers: will have an I phone, Travel, eat out; all is expensive. It’s 2018.As fair as the Handicapped entrance to the Train. Then the Website needs an update. Calling ahead to make sure is good Initiative.Called ahead to make sure does make sense. The Tour Trains their in Duluth, were build before Amtrak, & therefore; special equipment must be available. & again it helps to call ahead

We went to the Depot to ride the Pizza Train and the experience was disappointing. One of our folks is handicapped. The web sit indicates handicapped accessible but they had no available equipment. Conductor said we needed to call ahead. No warning of that on the web site nor signage on site. The train left about 30 minutes late. The bulk of the ride is through the woods and the lakeside woods should be cleared. Music was supposed to be provided but needed to be sent through the speakers on the cars. No music heard in my car. Not a good experience to show off Duluth to tourists.
