Stranahan’s has been one of our go-to places for to-go cocktails during the pandemic. My husband and I usually prefer to make our own cocktails because we like our drinks strong, but Stranahan’s does exactly that...make strong and unique drinks! We have enjoyed taking Stranahan’s for all of our socially-distanced camping trip weekends.

My husband and I toured the Stranahans distillery on our wedding anniversary and had a blast. The entire whiskey production and aging process is explained and full access to the factory is given. I was allowed to take photographs which was wonderful. The whiskey tasting was wonderful too and my husband and I learned the proper way to drink and mix whiskey with water to obtain the full range of wonderful aged flavors.

What were we thinking doing two distillery tours in one afternoon?!? I tell you what, it was totally worth it. Im not much of a whiskey drinker, but you have to check out Stranahans Colorado Whiskey. We had some time before the tour, so we bellied up to the bar. Steve B., mixologist and server, was really cool and explained the drinks to us. When it was time for the tour, we were introduced to Logan. He was an awesome tour guide, and has a great personality for it. He gave us a history of Stranahans as well as what it takes to make their whiskey.During the tour, we were given some samples. Again, not being a whiskey drinker, I was surprised at how you go about tasting it. And it wasnt bad! Logan even showed us what happens to the whiskey when you add a little bit of water to it. We were able to keep our tasting glass as a souvenir, and some of our group took advantage of the discount after the tour to bring home a bottle or two!

Do the tour! Their guides are well versed on the brand and are awesome storytellers. The tasting room is gorgeous as well, if you want to just stop in a for a drink without the tour. If you get as lucky as I did and get selected for a bottling, make whatever arrangements need to be made to attend! It was an awesome experience overall! The staff was fun, they give you breakfast and lunch for the morning crew, as well as a sample each time the crew filled a pallet! Very cool that all their bottles are done by volunteers. Wow, what an incredible tour! Our guide, Ashlene, was super engaging and funny, as well as incredibly knowledgeable about whiskey in general and Stranahans in particular. The tour is about an hour long, and you do get to taste some great whiskey. Included in the price is $10 off a bottle if youd like to take some home. The tour ends in the lounge, which has an amazing cocktail menu with skilled bartenders.Overall, its not my favorite whiskey, but it was fun to see how the spirit is made and get to try different types I probably wouldnt have sought out otherwise.Definitely worth doing if youre in Denver!

Took a tour at Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey and finished it off in the bar by trying the snowflake whiskey the tour guide recommended. The tour was super interesting and provided 3 shots of whiskey tasting with a super cute (no fall over) take home shot glass they were able to box up for us. The tour took a little longer than an hour, but we sat and chatted with the locals in the bar for an hour after that as well. Everyone there is extremely welcoming and we loved it! Fantastic place to grab a cocktail and tour. You get 3 whiskey tastings as part of the tour, plus the chance to check out the entire distilling process. The cocktails are well-crafted and wide-ranging so there’s something for those who like booze-forward as well as those who want it completely masked. Personally, I had the Funchroom that came in a cute tiki cup.

He was super knowledgeable about the process, the product, and broke it down easy for us to understand. Weve been to other distilleries in other states and Kevin was one of our better guides. The stemless Glencarn glass was a great souvenir to receive at the end. Diamond Peak is the best!

Good whiskey, but at a high price and excessive hype with unfortunately downhill service. The snowflake event is quickly getting out of hand. It seems like theyre experiencing growing pains as they get bigger - some events are fantastic (cask thief), others arent worth the waste of time or money (snowflake). Weve been loyal stranafans for a while, but lately find ourselves more often turning to other great local options instead, like Tin Cup or Breckenridge.

Tour was great. Max gave great details and had a real cool fun personality. Kept everyone engaged and entertained. Really got into how to properly do a whiskey tasting so you could fully experince the different flavors of the whiskey and the subtle changes when mixed. Product is good. The Snowflake is interesting and definitely worth trying if you like to go a little off script. However the highlight of the entire experience was Lucas in the lounge. Welcomed us. Engaged in conversation. Made some amazing suggestions on what to try based on our tastes. We had one non-whiskey drinker in the group so the mixed cocktails were perfect for here. The in house infused choices we awesome. Honey comb was my personally favorite. You could really tell Lucas and Max both truly enjoyed the brand as well as their work. And it comes through in their service. Definitely worth checking out and will most certainly be adding Stranahan to my liquor cabinet.

The standard tour is a total bargain (not to mention both entertaining and actually informative). For ten bucks a person you get two tasters and a free tasting glass - the boys over in Scotland dont even let you in for less than about $25, and they certainly dont give you a glass or more than one taster on the basic tour. In any case, its a good time and certainly good value, and that makes it feel worth it to stick around for another drink or two (or three...) at the bar, which also has great staff and even better cocktails.

Very disappointed in the customer service I received. My close friend bought me a tour for my 30th birthday. Due to unlucky circumstances, a family emergency came the day of my tour and I had to reschedule. To top it off, I came down with the flu and had a fever on the day I rescheduled. We asked for the date to be moved - only to be met with resistance (for an already paid for gift) on moving the date. They offered discounts but yanked the paid for tour out from under me. I was very excited to go to my favorite whiskey distillery for the first time. However, after the experience - I will no longer be purchasing Stranahans whiskey. I cannot support a business that acted in such a manner. I hope this was a one-off and that if you go you receive better service - but be careful if you’ve paid and cannot make it - they will just keep your money and send you packing.

This is a MUST visit if you are ever in Denver...oh, and it helps if you love whiskey.Book a tour for $12 and be prepared for some amazing tastings. This is the first whiskey distillery in Colorado. After walking the building, you sit down and get to try 3 different types of whiskey. They are heavy pours so grab some water up front and bring it with you. Our guide was super fun, informative, and really made the tour worth the trek. Btw, from the water to the barrels, what makes this spot different is that everything is super American and made in the USA.At the end of your tour, try the snowflake at the bar. It only comes around once a year but youre able to taste it at an additional cost. Its worth it. People wait in line for a week for this stuff. Oh, and the manhattan and old fashioned look amazing. Wish I couldve tried either of them but I hit my limit, for sure. Also, you get $10 off a bottle if you decide to purchase something.

A good place to start if you arent familiar or knowledgeable with whiskey and other spirits. Their tours (not free) are very comprehensive and a great place to start if you need a remedial lesson on how whiskey is made. We all have to start somewhere. It is unfortunate though that the tours arent free considering Ive been to about 60-70 distilleries and have paid for approx 2. Stranahans included. Its probably because they are one of the larger distilleries and is a necessary evil. Fact of the matter is, making whiskey is in general, very similar no matter where you go so this would be a nice way to show your guests around or perhaps first date but I wouldnt recommend it if you arent new to the distillery experience. Their products are good of course and its a good place to get swag, but there are SO many places in Colorado that are more boutique, locally owned distillery that makes cocktails equally, if not more amazing at equal or less than what they charge. I cant review a distillery any higher than a 3 when they act like they are local and yet, are owned by Proximo which is based out of NJ to increase their production. Its misleading so I cant be more of a fan than this. Sorry guys. There are way too many options to resort to spirits that sold out to NJ. With that, a lot of the materials (i.e. barley) is local, but still....Jersey?
