A museum that contains an immaculately maintained home with many artifacts that were handed down for multiple generations and still flawless after many years. The tour guides give a rich history and have in depth knowledge of the many different artifacts around the house.

The tour guides give a rich history and have in depth knowledge of the many different artifacts around the house.Went during Denver arts week which happens during the first Saturday of November where multiple art museums graciously open up their doors for free between 5-10pm.Museum admission is not expensive on most other days and it’s a fantastic way to explore some history and immerse yourself in the life of someone with a house built almost 150 years ago.

The tour guide was knowledgeable about the house and all things in it. They allow small groups of people. It is a great place to learn Colorado history. Great for family.

This is a beautiful home with rich history. Our tour guide, Judy, was very knowledgeable about the house and the families that lived there. This was definitely a highlight of our trip!

The home of a family who had great impact to the Denver area in terms of art and womens rights during the late 1800s to the early 1900s. This original and very well kept home is very interesting archectually and the original pieces of furniture, art, books, etc. give a real sense of the histories of the families that owned the home.

This was a special treat! If your looking for an awesome informative history of some of Denvers most influential people I can not recomend enough. The house is breath taking!

We were given free passes after visiting the main History Colorado Museum a day earlier. The house can only be visited via a guided tour, and we called ahead to make sure theres spots for us.The house is definitely beautiful and looks remarkably well preserved. The docent shared a lot of interesting tidbits about the Evans family and the household items they left behind, but didnt really demonstrate the connection between the family and womens history in the state. There is a small gallery at the reception, but I also didnt notice any mention of the Evanses in that gallery.

You can’t enter without a guided tour. But it is worth attending and watching these preserved interiors.

This was such a fun tour! We got there a bit late but Kat (like cat) was so awesome and gave us a tour even though we got there late. She was kind and funny and knowledgeable! Beautiful historical home that will make you feel like you stepped back in time. Only $6 dollars for adults and for 12 and under is $4. We came on a Sunday and it was probably the best time too! Tour is about 30 mins.

Fascinating history of occupants. Learned that Mt Evans (& other mtns are named after Denver mayors). Warning: House appears larger than it seems from outside!

This amazing place holds the entire history of Colorado in an attractive, well designed, interactive format. We spent an afternoon there thoroughly exploring each of the six major exhibits. The racist past of Colorado, like most of America, was not sugar coated. It was acknowledged and documented in context. The many conttibutions of African Americans was fairly documented. The klu klux klan robe was especially surprising. The exhibit on Hispanic discrimination and civil right activism was especially enlightening. The dust bowl era display rivalved Ken Burns for interest and accuracy.

It was interesting to learn some of Colorados history in seeing the beautifully preserved home that I never realized was right next to the Denver Art Museum....a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered.Three stars because parking is an expensive challenge downtown, and some of the tour guides are much more interesting than others.

Pretty much is house turned into a museum that shows very good history lesson about one of the oldest families in Denver. Is a 30 min tour and has a tour guide and gift shop. Recommended

Two very important Colorado families lived in this house. The tour is a nice walk through the Evans family past.The guide starts with a little introduction to William Byers, who founded the Rocky Mountain News and built the home. Then on to John Evans, a territorial governor.Short, interesting and worth it if you have any interest in Colorado history.

This was actually pretty cool. Highly recommend. Very friendly staff and some great history!!

Love the story and histories of the often forgotten womens work in our communities. This museum is a favorite.

The docent was really great, interesting history of this house.

I read some of the history of this place and really really wanted to see it- but I just missed the last tour by about 10 minutes. The building is very interesting and rumor has it that its haunted. I ended up seeing the Molly Brown house instead- but Ill make sure to come back here the next time Im in the neighborhood.

Awesome tour! Great rope free tour of a turn of the century household. Took 45 minutes, will take another just to get more pictures!
