My first time here. The art on display seemed sparse but that is probably understandable as we are in the middle of the pandemic. But everyone we interacted with was very polite and the cafe was nice.

It seemed very clean and sterilized, everyone was wearing a mask and they were only letting a certain number of people in, so I never got nervous about Covid. The collection of art was pretty impressive. I didn’t know any of the artists so that was good. I like being exposed to new art. I kind of wish there was a diversity of theme but all in all it was really great.

We were there about five minutes. The exhibit wasnt anything special or appealing in my opinion. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone to be honest. There are better exhibits for the same amount of money around Denver. People working there were unfriendly

Small but manageable floor plan with rotating exhibits. The teen space upstairs is really cool. Current exhibit by Nari Ward is varied in its mixed media but a lot of the pieces can be very heartbreaking. Nice rooftop space.

What a nice museum to visit in Downtown Denver. The exhibitions are interesting and well described in English and Spanish. An audio guide would be nice. The building itself is a piece of art. Make sure you explore. Suggest you take the stairs to the 3rd floor and enjoy a libation in the cafe and take in the nice downtown views on the rooftop. Check out their website for events, activities and current exhibitions. $10 for adults. $7 for seniors and students.

Interesting museum, interesting exhibits. And the cafe is a comfortable place to relax and enjoy some of the very tasty drinks!

Amazing art museum that has quite a few exhibits showcasing local Denver artists. Not a large space but packed with multiple large exhibition halls and the building itself is beautiful piece of architecture with large glass windows and the entrance is amazing. They also run an amazing program that allows local residents to rent art pieces and place them in to your own home for free. The rooftop bar/cafe is a great way to take a look at the city and enjoy the sunny weather. A great mix of substrates from photos to videos, paintings to sculptures.

Excellent museum with wonderful and enthusiastic staff. Current exhibit Citizenship: A Practice of Society is incredible. The rooftop cafe is a gem, as is the gift shop. MCA Denver is handling COVID protocols so that visitors feel welcome and safe. Very worth the visit!

What an incredible place to visit and it’s a Free Place to go in Denver. On the weekend it’s now FREE. They change exhibits all the time and it never disappoints. I’m a huge history and museum buff and for the size it’s truly incredible. I didn’t mind paying but, it’s a great place for a day date and something todo during these times instead of just sitting at home. The roof top is one of the best in the city. There is nothing better than sitting outside in the middle of the city.

Great COVID activity! They’ve limited guests in the building and in each part of the exhibit. I’ll definitely come back for the next artist

I love modern and contemporary art so this full gallery exhibition was wonderful to have during my visit to Denver. I urge everyone to spend some time here and consider the weight of the pieces. They mean more now more than ever.

The current exhibit by Nari Ward Is breath-taking, thought provoking, educational and inspirational. you should make time to go if possible, definitely for teenagers on up.

Stopped by Dec 2018 to catch a Tara Donovan exhibit, which took up everything in the space.Stunning pieces, she is probably more patient than I, given the difficulty of putting all of these pieces together.I especially liked the 3D sculptures.There is a small cake on the top floor, with outside tables. Nice views of the city up there.Did have one room of local art students efforts, some of which were stunningDefinitely check this place out if you are into modern art.

The Art was amazing !! The staff acted like they didn’t want to be there and was very rude. They could of been a little more friendlier especially the girls walking the area to make sure everything was ok. It would of been a great experience with out that .

A nice addition to Denver arts and culture. A little small but they have thoughtfully curated shows. The current show by Tara Donovan is amazing and a must see. Past shows by Kristen Sink and Laura Shill have also been amazing. Love that they showcase many female artist. The rooftop is also amazing.

I liked my visit. I found the installation by Derrick Adams to be the most interesting and exciting, especially Future People. I was also intrigued by two other exhibits, Honey (strange and sort of fun, with a slight mythical twist) and Spine (strange, but very sad). I greatly appreciated how the exhibits supported minority artists or interests (Adams, Washington) or social justice concerns (Oppenheim). The fine arts - even contemporary arts - can harbor conservative sensibilities, but these exhibits were progressive in every sense of the word.For a smaller museum, I thought the exhibits and the use of space were quite complementary. There was a flow and balance in the exhibit rooms that worked very well. I appreciated the posted texts about the exhibits and the artists; I felt that information was helpful and not intrusive. A small suggestion: it seems as though the very top floor could be utilized better. Sure, the revealed cityscape is striking, and the architectural design and patio garden are nicely done. But couldnt you display some statuary or other outdoor-friendly art up there? Again, only a small suggestion.This was my first visit to MCA. It was inspirational, and I look forward to returning.

Love this little gem in downtown. Great nearby park and bike path.

For penny Saturday, certainly worth the price of admission. Took me less than an hour to get through everything. Great selections, solid gift shop, lovely rooftop cafe. Might be strange to say, but I felt like the density of art could have been increased.

Intriguing retrospective show currently by Clark Richert and his “droppers” - I loved it.

Wonderful temporary exhibits enable you to keep coming back for more. The building itself is a work of modern art. I recommend a visit to the beautiful cafe and garden at the top floor.

Absolute favorite museum in Denver. Love all the exhibitions they get here I became a member here because it’s so reasonable and totally worth it!! Their “rooftop” bar is also a lot of fun, especially in summer. I love this place, never have a complaint. Staff is also always very very friendly and extremely helpful.

Coffee was good, didnt care for the art.

Exhibits focused on abstract and representational painting. The loaning of pieces is interesting, close to library approach.

I really enjoy coming to this museum with the family frequently. There is always a new reception and there is so much going on as far as events, etc.I have gotten to see so many artists and learn so much, the value is way more than what we paid to be members.

Is there such a thing as too contemporary? In my opinion art can be contemporary but still speak to a basically conventional concept of beauty; some of the exhibitions at MCA dont conform to that concept so Im ambivalent about them. But overall I enjoy visiting and I recommend it; maybe check the website before visiting to get an initial impression.

A decent museum of moderate size. I spent 1 hour here. Go after 5pm to get the discount rate! Also not busy during this time on weekdays.

Absolutely loved it. The design of the building itself is great, with an awesome rooftop bar and cafe, amd awesome spots for exhibits. I was fortunate to be there during the Tara Donovan exhibits, which were incredible.

Tara Donavan exhibit is amazing! Admission is super affordable ($8), but if you’re tight on cash you can always visit during one of their monthly “penny admission” days. Would definitely recommend visiting! Also very walkable to many restaurants and bars.

Pint size gallery that packs a punch. The labyrinthine like layout makes it feel much bigger than it is. The Richert exhibition was beautifully curated. And was only $8 entry fee. Didn’t stop at the rooftop cafe but it looked good. Stop by next time you are on Denver.

I visited MCA recently they have a rooftop cafe and a beautiful view of the Denver Downtown. They have some beautiful stories and pieces of arts. You won’t be deceived.

Interesting works of art by Tara Donovan. Worth a visit!

The facility is an amazing Leeds certified structure. The space on the roof top is a favorite with little garden nooks to gather and have coffee or just enjoy the Denver city view. I wish it was a bit bigger to house more art. I do like the featured artists that come through as they bring in big names and up and coming artists.

Underwhelming museum. Pretty much one exhibition throughout so if youre not a fan of the style then you wont get your moneys worth.

I gave the museum a 5 star rating because the design of the building made good use of the space available for artwork. It happened to be a very nice day, so hanging out at the rooftop café and enjoying the view was nice. If your into contemporary art this would be a nice stop for you.

A great immersive space for thought-provoking contemporary art! The staff is so friendly and warm and the shows they represent take you through the full spectrum of emotions. Space Elevate you and your perception of the city around you. They have wonderfully eclectic events I always feel like its an art Escape within the city

MCA is one of Denver’s best hidden gems, people tend to forget about it since it’s not over by the DAM and the Clifford Still Museum, but if you are an art lover you can’t miss it! Tara Donovan’s fieldwork exhibit was amazing! I highly recommend catching it before it’s gone, but either way, MCA does a great job with their installations. They have really wonderful creative programming (Black sheep Friday’s) and a lovely café. If you park in the parking garage and the Davita building they will validate for you.

Came in for one of the Friday Tours and will be back ASAP. We were on a tight schedule and weren’t able to stick around for long after the tour. There is so much more to explore. The tour guide gave an amazing perspective and point of view.

Cheap price for entry with a large space. Targets a very unique brand of artist that may not be your cup of tea, but for the price its worth the risk. We spent two hours browsing.

Literally the best art museum in the region. Always innovative and interesting. This museum continues to progress the artistic conversation in Denver in such a beautiful way! Would definitely recommend as a MUST see in Denver!

Small, but very nice museum with interesting exhibits!

Visited the MCA for the first time on Sunday for the last day of the Tara Donovan exhibition and my was I impressed! While it is a relatively small space compared to other contemporary art museums I have been to, it was obvious that it works. There is enough variety in room layout to showcase one artists work or 3 or 4, which of course means I will have to go back to see the next iteration of the MCA!

Radically left leaning throughout, full of political and social exhibits, not much emotional art, not what I was expecting.

Great location and space. Exhibits are hit or miss. Staff could definitely use some customer service training. My party walked up to the service desk to purchase admission tickets and WE had to initiate a greeting and conversation with the staff member and she seemed almost bothered that we interrupted her day. Otherwise, good visit.

Nice museum with interesting exhibitions. I left feeling inspired to draw something special. If you love the artwork and would like to support the art in Denver, you should definitely visit this place.

I enjoy the MCA and am there often- seeing an exhibit for the third or fourth time is just as good as the first. Their front desk staff can be a little surly in an art-student sort of way but frankly that’s part of the experience. Wouldn’t change a thing.

I was on a 12 hour layover in Denver and decided to get out of the airport and come see some art. Not only was their a great amount of art on display but also there a was a nice little cafe and bar on the top floor. There was a patio outside you could go sit outside and view downtown Denver. The drink was awesome and very instagramable and the the caprese tower was amazing. When I go visit Denver again I will be back.

I enjoy it every time. The exhibitions are usually very interesting and well done. The staff are helpful and friendly. Rooftop cafe is delightful and completes the experience.

A very nice museum with more contemporary art exhibits than the museums on the other side of downtown. I’ve seen some really cool exhibits over the years here. Very nice building, beautiful showrooms and never too crowded allowing you to enjoy the art in peace. As a bonus there’s a really nice cafe / bar on the rooftop letting you hang out for a bit after checking out the place. Highly recommended!

Is a very well curated and taken care of Museum. The Rooftop viewing gallery and Cafe are great as well. The staff are very courteous and will answer any questions that you have. I look forward to attending many more exhibitions here.

Excellent museum of contemporary art, featuring both national and Colorado artists. The building galleries vary in size and shape, providing different spaces to explore the presented artwork. I especially enjoyed the installations of Nathan Carter and Kim Dickey.

I have been here when there were some really cool art displays. The major one going on now is more of a historical recount of an American family from the early 1900s. Pretty boring and not really art to me. It would be better off in a different place....Im kind of sad that it has a longer display time of 6 months compared to the average of 3 months. I believe theyd be better off having visitors vote on the art or have some sort of survey discussing the art before leaving. That way, the rotation of art is displayed at a more appropriate period of time. Just an opinion. The upper level is always a nice insight on local youths reality and perception of art. I believe it is the best display usually.

Super great! Came in and it was penny day which was a pleasant surprise! Exhibits were thought provoking and well organized.

Pretty decent museum, but it is on the smaller side of things with only 4 floors of galleries (about 3 to 5 rooms per floor). During my visit the basement was closed and each floor hosted its own exhibit so there wasnt a ton of variety at the time. Still very interesting and the architecture of the building is unique. Do check out the top floor on a good day as it is a roof top cafe with some decent views and nice mixed used to show off the materials that the building is made of!

Constantly changing exhibits so there is something new every time. Very well laid out and handicap accessible. Admission is very reasonable, and they give a student discount. Only drawback is that its small!

Awesome exhibits of modern art from different artists

I went to go to the museum with a few fellow graduate students and we were turned away because our small group was “too big”. While we waited to regroup we watched several groups enter with no problem. So just make sure you don’t arrive all at the same time or they won’t allow anyone to go in.

Breathtaking exhibit of light and dark currently. Loved.the experience. Definately a must see.

Beautiful and great for kids. We saw the Star Wars exhibit when it visited and discovered all the other wonderful regular exhibits they have.

Great museum in downtown Denver! The architecture is cool, and they have rotating exhibits. The exhibit I went to was very fascinating. They also have a library of art, where you can enter to win a piece of art and borrow it for a bit. Interesting program!

Amazing place full of great art that is supee easy and cheap to view. If you are and artist visit their website to get a free membership to the museum. I saw the tara dovan show and this building gave her an amazing platform to build such a breath taking exhibition of magically changed mundane materials

Very repetitive; not much artwork on display. By far the least content of any museum in Denver.

Nice Contemporary art museum. Not as many exhibitions as expected, but still unique.

Each Thursday has different events and shows, check your schedule. Come early if you want to have shorter lines and view everything you want. Probably have enough time to see it all when we were there, but we had a limited viewing time due to our schedule, so didnt get a chance to explore the movie/ show area.

It is truly a great way to discover new artist. There is so much story behind every artist & the Museum of Contemporary Arts really allows for that story to be shown. I enjoy going every three months to see the new art that they decide to display. Truly an amazing place.
