Have only tried ronin sushi and was recommended by the Foodies Daytona Beach group on Facebook to check out Cafe Du Japon. It was a little tricky to find as the google maps was off but after finding it, was greeted by a friendly host and shown to my table. It was around 5pm so it had just opened and I was the only one dining. Ordered the sashimi and it was on point - order the fried tuna jalapeno dill and it was good. Would def return again with friends to enjoy some of the freshest sushi in Daytona beach.

Great food with incredible prices. Flaming Salmon and the Oh My God Roll are amazing. Very tiny little restaurant with wide variety of sushi and Saki. I highly reccomend checking it out. One of my favorite sushi spots in Daytona Beach.

In town for a mini vacation we came here the first night for takeout and then ate here two more nights because it was so good! The prices were very affordable to load up and we tried a lot of different stuff, our favorites were the fried California rolls, the fried scallop rolls, the spring roll sushi roll, the screaming salmon and the golden ninja, but I bet everything on the menu is incredible, we ate at least half of it and it was so good!

My wife and I were spending a few days in Daytona Beach Shores. We wanted Sushi and chose this place because the high ratings. We parked and walked right past it accidentally. Walked back and noticed... It is completely signless. With tremendous curiosity, we entered after the host came out to greet us on the sidewalk. She saw us standing there. My wife is Japanese as well and immediately we felt welcomed. The food was absolutely incredible. Huge cuts of sashimi and sushi. Very fresh. Tempura shrimp were perfectly battered and offered authentic flavors and taste. Fried tofu was great as well. We felt like VIP when we were there. Top notch service! Will definitely return. We consider it our hidden gem of Daytona Beach. Easy to not notice. Look for the neon sign and question mark.

Best sushi Ive ever had in my life!! We sat at the bar and I believe sharing really is the best way to do it since the food doesnt come all at once, you have more time to enjoy it this way.We got a little bit of everything and it was phenomenal!! Things to order: sashimi sampler platter (so good, it melts in your mouth), the rainbow roll, and the spicy California roll. We even ordered different mochi flavors for dessert and it was the best mochi Ive ever had. I am highly satisfied and I recommend if you like sushi, you HAVE to try this place and Im positive you will too.

The sushi was pretty good. The prices were not bad. I ate here once but it was a take out order. Maybe if I ate in it would have tasted a tad better. I felt for some sushi rolls that were supposed to be six pieces or eight they were small.

Everything was delicious, especially the Triple spicy crunchy tuna roll. Fantastic. Service was pretty quick for such good sushi. Very fresh. They also had an adapter for the chopsticks for children.

This place is just fantastic! The food, atmosphere, staff, and everything else are really awesome. The food tastes amazingsauce. I had to use this made up word to try to come as close as possible to having even a modicum of adequateness in summarizing the exquisite ride your taste buds will go through when you taste their sushi. as a local who loves cheap quality food, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CAFE DU JAPON... they are the best around for price and its always fresh! yes yes yes .... I usually order take out/to go because I like to eat at home but when I go to dine in rarely, its always great too!

The freshest sushi in Daytona.I came to visit my uncle and did not expect much from Daytona in terms of asian restaurants. However my uncle stated that there is a real Japanese restaurant in Daytona. He was right. Real authentic Japanese sushi chefs personally prepared our sushi and they were real treat. Also when I got a bill, the total was less than 69% of my expectation. Win win for my palates abd my pocket. I will definitely come back for more.

Restaurant was empty when we first got there. We were sceptical in dining there since it was our first time. We took our chances and for our surprise it but filled up rather quickly. Many were repeat clients. The food was amazing. We loved every dish and roll we ordered. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return to this restaurant during our next visit to the area.

That was my first visit...We went last night around 6, walked in and waited a few minutes as there were no clean tables, finally sat down by the window in the outdoor furniture setting. Not the most comfortable! 2 other couples came in after us over the next 15 minutes, and got better tables, although they were still dirty...and they got served first...?We waited because we were hungry, after 25 minutes got a menu and card for ordering. Gave drink orders, and started looking over the menu. Pictures and menu didnt match the order card. We finally got our sodas. Everything we wanted to order we had to write in. 20 minutes getting the order straight and written down and still no waitress.We waited for another 15 minutes and I noticed the other 2 tables had ordered and 1 already had their food and we still hadnt ordered. We already invested over an hour in this meal that seemed it would never arrive.So, we left. My girl went and told the waitress we were leaving and why. Her reply was they were short tonight.Never going back!

Most insulting family owned business..my mom dying of cancer and owners calling me and my son harsh names from telling them I know what gyosas are..needing to get off phone quickly as my mom looks like a corpse I drove 3,000 miles to save..Very rude and should be held accountable for grotesque behavior by all family members working especially the female manager. Take heed in ordering here if you have life threatening emergency .

This is one of one of the best sushi places, if not THE BEST. Totally authentic, fresh, very stylish plates, lots of choices, the atmosphere is very friendly, cozy, almost romantic, perfect to bring a date, but even for a family dinner. Place is not very noticeable from outside, theres only a big lighted question mark on the window. But dont be fooled, walk in there and enjoy the best sushi of your life!!!!

This place and Maki (I think thats how you spell the owners name), is awesome! I have literally tried everything on their menu since theyve been open, and have NEVER been let down. Hands down the best quality and best tasting sushi in town, and literally half the price of anywhere else. The OMG roll, smokin lava roll, triple crunch spice roll, and sunrise roll are my favs! I can never chose between the 4 and always get all of them A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

The food is still delicious, but the staff (like everyone else is mentioning) are incredibly slow. Theyre also unprofessional and stand at the back gossiping and chatting away - rarely checking on customers. They really make you feel like youre intruding on their space rather than them offering a welcoming environment. Its such a shame because the food (when it finally comes out) is actually really good, but I dont think Ill be coming back. This was the last decent place in the Daytona area - just go to the Orlando/Winter Park area for good sushi.

Read the reviews and decided to give it a try. Sushi rolls and saki were wonderful. Service was fine. Did have to speak up to get their attention, but they were very courteous. Will definitely go back again.

I went into this place with my family and we werent acknowledged for fifteen minutes. After my mom went to the bathroom and decided it was too filthy for us to eat here, we left. The lighting was too dim to look at the menus left on the table (we used our iPhone flashlights) and the music was too loud. We noticed the sushi chefs wiping sweat from their faces and then continuing to construct the sushi rolls without gloves or washing their hands. Unacceptable.We went to Ronin Sushi and Bar instead and had a delightful (clean) and delicious experience.

Cafe du japon was the most amazing, most authentic, and most enjoyable Japanese sushi restaurant I have ever been to. When we first walked through the door I was judging the lack of customers, but once I sat down and had a bite of the authentic, fresh sushi I immediately was astonished. The food is extraordinary as is the service itself. The restaurant has a calming and inviting environment as there is a constant stream of different pictures and a disco ball that spins constantly. The service was also excellent as we were checked on and got served very fast. But above all the sushi was the most spectacular i’ve ever tasted. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in Daytona Florida. We enjoyed the California roll, the oh my god roll, and the spider roll.

Great sushi, not so great service. Didnt help there was a big drunken party being loud and all over the floor but the service still could have been better and faster. Maybe hire a few more people and bring menus out when you take the drink order. I shouldnt have to go up to the counter and get my own menus.

Its sad that i have to write this review, because i never really had a problem with this place. their food is good and the sushi is fresh. If you eat there, the wait and the service SUCKS though. I just spent 1.5 hours waiting on my food which was already made and just to told them to put it in a to go box. They then took 25 minutes to put an ALREADY MADE sushi roll in a to go box. They then blame the fact that theyre low on staff. Umm, no. The same 4 people that i see there time after time, when i pick up food, were the same people that were there today. Not a happy camper. at all. It can be the best place in the world, but one bad experience and Its convinced me to NEVER eat or get food from there ever again!

Edit after reading some reviews: some nights are very busy because they dont open till 5 (not sure why someone reviewed when they went in at lunchtime because they aren’t open then), when theres many people and only so many staff then it could take time to get your food, but a wait should be expected at any food place you go to. Also someone claimed to not go there if you have a life threatening emergency, why would you go anywhere but a hospital if you have a life threatening emergency?!On another note, if you’ve only been once and didn’t have a good experience, then you should give it a second try.I never liked sushi until I came here, been coming here for many years now, even my younger kids love it! Always my birthday treat every year. They have a great variety, most of the sushi is original and can’t be found at other places, good prices, amazing staff and an overall enjoyment. Everytime I go in or oder pickup they remember who I am and get my order quick. Will always be my favorite place!
