This is a very well run place, and the price is reasonable for the range of activities offered. The staff is super welcoming and efficient. For those preferring organized activities, there is a great variety of classes led by knowledgeable, talented, and enthusiastic instructors. The place is a pride of Vandalia.

The Rec center is good for youngsters to learn and how to play sports. Swimming pool is nice and the weight room is awesome. You can also take classes here.

Good place for a kids party & private rooms are nice & have play areas with kids playsets & more. Lots of other things to do & swimming . Good parking & friendly greeters & receptionist.

Ive grown up in this place. It never fails to impress me with the service desk always so kind and smiling whether youre calling in or walking in. The building is clean and very well maintained. The best thing is the feeling of safety provided in such a scary world. I love how zealous the lifeguards are for our childrens sake and also the additional emergency only exit doors off the party rooms. Id recommend this place to anyone for a regular membership, for a fun day with the kids swimming or even for their services for birthday parties. I know Ill be back.

I have no idea how this place rates so high. I bought a family membership for me and my boys and we had to pay to use the wall and the jungle gym inside after already paying $45 a month. You have to pay for classes too. Its prolly good for old people though. Anyone under 60 id recommend going elsewhere.

The pool has a very large area that is shallow enough for toddlers. My 2 year old could walk in much of the pool and my 4 year really covered ago footage. Theres a water slide that looks like a frog, a tree housearea, water fountain and much more. Theres also a whirlpool. The life guards helped keep an eye that parents with small children were really paying attention and there are many signs up to remind everyone how quickly drowning can happen. It is always a nice experience.

Always kept clean. Water could be a tad warmer but nice winter activity for kids.

Variety of things to do. Nice people. Been going here since it opened in the late 90s early 2000s. Loved it then and now.

My entire family has lived here for over 60 years. We visit every other Christmas, we are not new. My husband and I are military and he had daily passes to the gym. He became ill could not use them and sent me. I was almost denied entrance. Next time Ill be going to another gym. Very sad, as Im use to everyone being so sweet here! Instead Ive been met with annoyance and plenty of attitude. The cost is $8 a day for a tiny gym.

Had an awesome time at the birthday party and the venue was perfect for the kids..they had fun swimming and loved when Elsa arrived..a great Frozen theme for the birthday girl!

Excellent facilities. Great, helpful staff

Our team had a baseball tournament game there. The field is clay and sand with grass outfield. It is very well manicured. The provided umpires were very good. My one gripe is that there were no covered dugouts. Other than that it was overall a good experience.

I recently purchased a family membership at the rec center. The facility is always tidy and the staff is very polite. Its a very good value for the activities offered and the annual rates for child care are amazing. Having a year round pool, gym, track, rock wall, and gymnasium membership is incredible. Its more affordable then a membership at the YMCA and has just a few extras they dont. I would highly recommend this facility! My wife is a stay at home mother. Having the option to get out of the house is wonderful for her and keeps the kids entertained!

Needs better child care hours but the facility is great

I only use the parking lot to return a phone call and answer some emails. It was a nice parking lot.

We went on Family Fun Night. The friendly staff is what made it a fun night. Kids loved the pool, naturally,but the climbing wall, open gym,snacks and snow cones were AWESOME!!

Very clean! The pool has been updated since our last visit and we were pleased with the updates. The pool room is warm and the water was nice and clear. The staff is very friendly and polite. Price is decent as well.

Great facility to play basketball at.. fun times

I love this place, and so do my kids. Cool programs, very nice gym for workouts, and my kids and I love running around the water area, slides, and lap pool. The kids do say however that the soft play area is more for smaller kids. All around though, a cool, healthy place to support healthy lifestyles.

Top notch rec center and sports fields adjacent to it

Free Wall Climbing on 12/18/18:) When my daughter and I first walked in we were greeted by Mrs. Jamie who works at the front desk. I told her we was here 4 wall climbing and she said that was fine and I would have 2 eat my food over where the tables were b4 I started 2 climb. So I smashed my chick-fil-a then headed 2 the area where the wall was and was met by a nice young lady named Hanna:) I had 2 sign waivers 4 myself and daughter and put on the proper gear b4 we started 2 climb. First my child went,then I went. We had so much FUN! This place is great! The kids rooms are clean, there is plenty of cardio equipment, the pool is awesome for kids and exercise. The only thing Id like to see more of is some extra free weight equipment.

I had my sons birthday party here, and everything went smoothly. We had the party room for an hour and a half and then went to swim, which was supposed to be for two hours. Someone pooped in the pool or something so it had be cleaned out which takes 30 minutes or so. We were offered to wait for the pool or take the kids to the jungle gym and rock wall. We left the pool and let them do the gym and wall. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I definitely recommend them if youre looking for a place for a pool party. I might even do it again for his party next year.

I was at the recreation center for the annual Vandalia Freedom Ride. It was an outstanding time and the event was well put together. A+ for a great event and the catered food was outstanding. I really enjoyed the outing as I always do and have for the past 3 years.Today, I had the distinct opportunity to ride with the organizer and learned his patience is very remarkable. He goes above and beyond to be sure everyone is having a good time. His spirit is real and genuine. He truly cares about what is going on and he does what is needed. I was very impressed.This ride is held every year at the Vandalia Sports Complex and I would encourage those who enjoy a good time, great cycling, and great food to come and participate in this event. It is well worth the drive. The Wright Patterson Air Force Base division of your United States Air Force Cycling Team is always present and available to help at roadside with issues that may arise. There are only 10 of them or so and 700 riders in this event.The road markings and signs are very well placed and you have to really be paying no attention to miss a turn or marking.Come join us for this event.

Extremely nice environment! but they can get pretty busy and If you go their to workout your workout will take longer because you have to wait for a bench or squat rack to open up.

The gym is decent and the pool is great. The area is nice. Membership is reasonable for what all you get (pool, gym etc) its decently busy at all times but rarely overly busy. youll usually always be able to get in though the pool does get crowded in the summer at certain times of day. They offer swim classes.

Took my son since I use to go as a kid, was disappointed to see how far they go to make sure kids don’t have fun. In the pool area we were immediately approached because the kids aren’t allowed to have their own swimmer helper floats, everything has to be coast guard approved from what they told me. Then I’m watching my son slide on his belly down the tiny frog slide. Oh no, children aren’t allowed to have fun like that so here comes the a lady yelling at children again. Nothing I’m complaining about is posted because you guys realize how dumb you would look on paper, so you give these people made up rules to inforce. But it’s ok I will try somewhere they allow fun. FYI Vandalia rec center remember who pays your bills before you run around yelling at people’s children.

Everyone has been so friendly. Very clean and it has so many things to choose from.My daughter is taking swimming lessons and the pool is very nice. Instructors are friendly and make it a enjoyable experience.

Id recommend it for family get togethers.

I went to the Oktoberfest. It was way too expensive. I did not like that I had to buy tickets to buy things with. Had to pay $5 to get in. They say parking was free but had to pay to get in so they double-charged you

Very nice soccer fields. They are very well kept and parking is designed according to field numbers. This makes parking very easy!

Its good if your into rec. centers. I just keep wondering why the ambulances go there all the time.

Great fun place for the whole family. NOW read all their roles BECAUSE they are too strict. Had a friend asked to leave because her swimsuit. They went to find her in the shower to tell her to change or leave. And you will hear life guards calling peoples attention all the time. Why do I still go there? Because the water park is nice specially in the winter.

Great center for this community. Good balance of programs for all ages, from preschool to geriatric.

Great place for the family or just yourself. Full aquatic center, fitness area with free weights, machines, and cardio equipment as well as a rubberized track.on the 2nd floor. Theres a gymnasium for basketball and other activities as well as special needs accommodations in the locker rooms.

Love it people are so nice

For some reason social distancing the equipment appears to have consisted of getting rid of the only piece of cardio equipment I generally use in the building. Fortunately the one Id generally use if the go to unit was occupied is still there, and broken.... Boo. Boo Vandalia, boo. Ya done bad. I loved this rec center, and you took away the equipment I used. So boo on you.

The gym isnt bad, I wish they had more machines, like a hack squat machine and tanning and free classes with your membership, like other gyms. Do NOT like the pool at all. Not because of the pool itself, its the staff. They are way too strict. Even when i was younger I went to the rec and you get in trouble for everything and they make you sit out. Now even as an adult, they were still blowing the whistle at me over essentially nothing... example where I got out of the pool at. not okay with it, dont like the pool. I have a pass but plan on cancelling very soon. They also dont tell you when your renewal date is up, they just automatically renew you without asking, so if you want to cancel any time other than the renewal month, you have to pay $50. Ill take my money else where. Consider changing these things, Vandalia.

This is great. We bought a day pass for the pool usage, the water might be saline. But there is no gagging chlorine smell which we appreciate!

I love the way this facility is built and is typically not very packed, or overrun by high school kids. They have nice gym equipment, a nice outdoor track. The pool is huge, like a water slide, a lazy river, and of course rows for swimming laps. The staff is usually friendly and welcoming.

Locker rooms are painfully cold. But the pool is warm and the staff is nice.

Too expensive to go regularly, but we do have fun when we get to go.

Very nice set up, wish we had one in Beacvercreek Ohio.

Theres so much good stuff to do with the family here I could write 5 pages. Workout, swim, play basketball, take dance, acrobat or martial arts classes. Very nicely priced, especially if you get a yearly pass. I never get tired of coming here. Great staff as well!

Always friendly staff. The fitness center has enough to get in a good workout although the free weight area is very small. Big bball court and an incredible zero depth pool with lots of kid friendly features. Locker rooms and showers are about what you would expect from a rec ctr.; just the basics but it is clean.

Could give more options. Lifeguards pay very good attention. They should open the slide more often.

Fun Fall Festival

Lots of things weve experienced at VRC. Rock wall is awesome and the staff has always been friendly and helpful.Swim lessons are fantastic. Weve taken preschool and the regular ready to swim. Weve also taken the homeschool lessons and the instructors are top notch.I really enjoy the family restrooms/changing areas in the pool area. Nice size. Usually pretty clean.I wish that the temperature control was better, but it may just not be helped with the design of the building. If youre watching people swim its super hot! I am usually sweating if I am not sitting under an air vent. Then after you swim and go to restroom its freezing.Kids have played in The jungle (childcare) and really like the slides etc. I wish their wasnt a TV in there, but that may just be me.
